Hey guys, this delicious restaurant has moved! They are now located at 6 Decker Avenue!!…read moreIt's become like a general store with a delicious restaurant. San Miguel is truly one of only three Staten Island Mexican restaurants that truly serve authentic Mexican food! The best way to experience them is by calling ahead of time, ordering your food, and then picking it up. Whatever we have ordered has been absolutely scrumptious! From their pillowy, creamy yellow rice and their smooth beans, to their wide assortment of boba fide, typical dishes, such as huaraches, enchiladas, tacos, tortoise, etc. The enchiladas come in a choice of green or red sauces, and I must say the red sauce was the best molè sauce that I have ever tasted. Get yourself a San Miguel meal, with a Mexican soft drink, and you'll be in one of those little towns in Cabo in no time.

****3.5 actual rating***…read more I had really high hopes for this place because it was recommended by someone who lives in the area. It was fairly easy to find and we found parking right away. The place itself is decently sized but has pretty dim lighting. The price point was pretty affordable and they have a pretty extensive menu of both food and drinks. We ordered 1 steak taco, 2 chicken tacos, 2 al pastor tacos, 1 steak quesadilla and a chicken nachos. The chicken nachos was the most expensive but it was HUGE and this was super yummy. I highly recommend the chicken nachos, they gave a lot of toppings and the chips were super crunchy and the flavors went amazing together. Everything else was just okay. I found the taco meats pretty dry and a bit lacking in flavor but the al pastor was def the best one out of all the tacos. The quesadilla was just okay in my opinion, nothing too special but not bad either. I would probably come back to this place if I am in the area but mainly for their nachos.

Pro-Tip: Skip the Delivery, Head to the Restaurant…read more I recently ordered the quesabirria con consomme via Uber Eats, and I have a major pro-tip for anyone living a bit further away: Do not get this delivered. While the food portion was generous and the flavors were very tasty, delivery really impacted the quality. My driver got lost and arrived 15 minutes late, which meant the tortillas lost all their crunch and arrived soft and mushy. If you want that perfect, crispy texture this dish is known for, it's best enjoyed fresh at the restaurant. A few other notes on the meal: The Consomme: I was quite disappointed with the consistency. It was very watery, lacked the rich red color I've seen elsewhere, and didn't have any meat inside. Spice Level: I specifically requested "not spicy" because I don't like any heat, but the consomme was still quite spicy and essentially inedible for me. The Portion: On the positive side, the food portions are substantial and more than I expected. I'm a big supporter of small businesses and have seen many great reviews about their authentic food and fast service in person. Because the flavors were good, I'm willing to give them another try--but only as a sit-down meal next time to get the full, fresh experience that I hope they offer.

I got the green salsa with chips, the chips I can tell are hand made. Definitely coming back and making some content here

Best tacos ever! Probably the best I've tried on Staten Island. I was craving for some this morning…read moreafter breakfast and walked up the hill to Taqueria El Gallo Azteca. The experience was very pleasant, and service was quick (I paid and I had a few minutes to go across the street to the Mexican bakery to get two cream puffs for a $1 while they make my tacos) while they made my food. I stopped by at around 11am and the place was empty but there are plenty of seats available in the taqueria with lots of Mexican drinks options. The ambiance was quiet. I asked for two cacti tacos, also known as the Taco Azteca at this taqueria as recommended by the other Yelpers. I started with two because I heard that their tacos run big. These tacos were enormous and I was full eating after just one taco and saved the other one for an afternoon snack!! They also give you a generous cup of green sauce, which is one of my favorites! Because normally when getting a cactus taco in the other boroughs, they only give you a straight vegetarian taco only, but I was very surprised it came with a big chunk of meats. For $10-12 for two big giant tacos, I feel like I am getting fed very well. I'll definitely be back again to try their lamb/goat soup as recommended by the other Yelpers.

Spotted this place on Yelp and it was close so we thought, "What do we have to lose?" It's cavernous and we didn't know what to expect as we sat down. (I imagine the place fills up during karaoke happy hour on Fridays/Saturdays and for private parties.) The food and the service was quite good. They have a wide menu. We ordered a range of tacos (al pastor, chorizo, etc), rice and beans, and beer. We made a few substitutions which wasn't a problem. The waitress didn't speak a lot of English, but someone else who worked there did and we had a laugh about it.

This is what you call s hole in the wall. I had to take 1 star away since our nice waitress didn't speak a word of English and my high school Spanish didn't get me very far. So most the food on menu I had to guess. Which is why I ended up with a dish I thought would be nachos but what I know as a tostada. Our order included just a random sampling of dishes such as: -Tostadas de Pollo: crispy tortillas (should say tortilla singular) topped with beans, chicken, lettuce, sour cream... boring -2 Tamales: chicken/green sauce and the cheese, jalapeño. Great tamales and only $2 and huge -2 tacos: fried beef, onion, cilantro and Chorizo taco cilantro/onion. The beef was ok but the chorizo was crispy fatty deliciousness -the entree of Enchiladas Suizas: shredded chicken enchiladas topped w/green sauce, cheese and rice n beans side. Very tasty their green sauce is unique compared to over verdes I've had, beans n rice kind of an after thought and bland. The total was $28 and we were stuffed. The house sauces don't seem spicy at all but then it creeps up on you slowly. I walked out on fire. They have a high chair but it looked like the dirtiest thing ever so I wouldn't use it. I will defiantly come back whenever I'm craving real Mexican cheaply.

Last week I got home from work famished, and my wife and son were equally hungry with little to no food to cook. I looked up places to eat close by and saw Tacobees. The Google reviews were all great, and I saw they have Birria shredded chicken tacos, SOLD! I ordered from their website, which was extremely easy to use, and has multiple options for selections and toppings. I got my wife corn tortilla tacos, chicken quesadillas from the kids menu for my boy, and the Birria shredded chicken tacos for myself. Since I live so close (4 min drive) I was able to pick up the food close to the pickup time. The parking lot has limited spots in the strip mall they're located in, but for take out it didn't really matter. Inside the store is very clean, organized, and has the hot food visibly on display when you walk in, with window seating all around the corner. The staff is young and VERY friendly. I can't stress enough how cool these young men and women are, an uncommon treat in Staten Island. Picked up my food, asked for some sour cream and brought it home to feast. The Birria chicken tacos came with the dipping sauce which is sooooooo good. The sour cream is very fresh, and the food was absolutely delicious. One of the best taco places I've eaten at PERIOD. It was such a hit that I returned the next two nights for more, so we all ate Tacobees 3 nights in a row! That's how great the food was, each meal was as consistent and tasty as the last. Ironically Taco Bell is in the next lot over, and we said there's no reason to go there any longer with such a superior option next lot over. If you are a taco or Mexican food fan, this place will not disappoint you. Highly recommend it, and I wish this business nothing but success going forward! Now I want som more Tacobees after writing about them.

I had ordered 3 piece birria beef tacos and their sweet and spicy shrimp burrito bowl online. Understand it would take 30 minutes for the order to be ready, and still understand that if they needed more time longer than 30 minutes up to at least 40 minutes due to the longer time they needed to prepare the birria beef tacos. Ok, fine. However, the birria beef tacos were sadly lacking despite the longer time than expected that they needed to prepare it. Although the pricing seems decent, the birria tacos are definitely nowhere near as good or as authentic as the real deal. I've had birria tacos from Birria-Landia and other places in Queens and regret to say this is a poor imitation of it. The beef was lacking in the chili and spice flavor that it should normally be braised in. The taco shell lacked crisp and was soft. This is not how a birria taco should taste at all. I'm not even going to get into the consome. But I urge you to please ask anyone who has had authentic birria tacos, and you will see what I am talking about. The next disappointment was the burrito bowl with sweet and spicy shrimp. In this case, they did not even include the sweet and spicy shrimp ($4.00), so they only provided a bowl with: cilantro lime rice, pinto beans, regular queso, corn salso, pico salso, mexican cheese, mont jack cheese, and cilatantro sauce. As they failed to include the sweet and spicy shrimp that was already paid for in my pick-up order, I only consumed the burrito bowl with the above ingredients, which seemed mediocre/average. Quality of rice and above ingredients is ok, but you may be better off at Chipotle instead if you want fresher ingredients. For those who order online ahead for pick-up, would very strongly advise that you please check your food before you leave the store to ensure they did not shortchange you on your order like they have done to me. Sorry to provide a negative review, but the experience was somewhat poor for both service and the food itself (or lack thereof).
