Service was good and food came out quickly. We had the chicken burrito and the plate special (pork tamale, steak taco and chicken flautas). As a side we requested blackened jalapeños which were perfectly prepaired. We asked for "hot" salsa - We received a spicy habanero salsa that did not disappoint with good flavor. The chicken in the burrito was flavorful and moist. The steak taco on the plate special had cheese, bacon and a hint of citrus flavor. La Carreta will not be the greatest Mexican joint you ever go to however it can provide consistently good food and surprising flavors. read more

This is my favorite Mexican restaurant in Leavenworth area. The portions are always large and great staff. I especially like that their salsa is not spicy, just flavorful. I have eaten many things on their menu and one of my favorites is a special run on weekends, seafood enchiladas. read more

I ate here a few weeks ago with my mom and we both loved it! All the food is decently priced and the service was fantastic! My shredded beef floutas were delicious. I've eaten at La Carreta about 20+ times and it is consistently good. The salsa is tasty (ask for the spicy) and even the basics such as enchiladas and Chile rellenos are full of flavor. In the winter they have a delicious tortilla soup. The service is always very good and the food arrives to the table quickly. The restaurant is clean and the decor is pleasant. Based on Brian H.'s review, the wife and I decided to check this place out. Business was light on a Sunday night so we were seated immediately. The chips and salsa were excellent. The chips were warm and fresh and the salsa tasted homemade and authentic. I ordered the tacos al pastor. The pork was tender and marinated well and the pineapple chunks really made the dish. The wife ordered the seafood enchiladas. Although it was tasty, it was heavy on imitation crab and light on shrimp. I asked for some jalapenos and received three grilled jalapeno peppers. They were great. However, I was a bit surprised that they charged us $2 for the peppers as they weren't on the menu and the waiter did not inform me we would be charged. Oh well, now I know. Anyway, I'll be back if I have a craving for Mexican food. read more

This place is outstanding, service is good, its never too packed around dinner time, i have ordered several times and each time gotten something different and it has been good. You tacos are okay. Your food is decent. BUT, La Mesa is better. Way better. Your service is okay... kinda slow... but the people are nice. Tonight was my first time trying this wonderful restaurant. Thank goodness it was the only one open because my husband and I were forced to try it and the food and service was far beyond our expectations. The ambiance and atmosphere is great too! My personal favorite was the chicken nachos and the guacamole! We got there right before closing and ended up leaving about thirty minutes after the restaurant had closed and the waiter was very patient which was a great surprise as compared to other restaurants in town! Great cheese dip. It has spinach in it and is perfectly seasoned. I had a burrito, enchilada, taco combo platter. The taco meat that was used was very spicy... not my favorite. Of course spicy is usually a good thing for most people when they consider Mexican cuisine. So I can see this place doing well. Decor was okay, staff was friendly...did notice a bit of a language barrier with my waiter and the person that brought the salsa/chips...but nothing major. Staff was friendly. This is the best Mexican food in town. I especially like the deep-fried tacos, (reminiscent of the old El Tampicos) and the beans, which I'm really picky about. These definitely taste homemade. The salsa is flavorful, I always ask for the hotter version and mix the two. The enchiladas are very good too. Have not tried everything on the menu, there is a lot to choose from, but have liked everything that I have ordered. The service has been good, never too long of wait for the food, even when they are busy. The restaurant is clean, cheerful, and family-friendly. I have been here several times with the the most recent time being last week. I ordered chicken echiladas and my mom ordered seafood enchiladas. The waiter was rude and quick to get us in and out. The seafood (baby shrimp and fake crabmwat) was bad. The crabmeat had a fishy taste it. The best part were the chips and salasa and they werent even that great. This place is not like it used to be. This is our favorite place to go to every Friday night. We're treated like family there, and every time we walk in we are always seated in a timely manner, they automatically bring out our usual appetizers such as cheese dip and a bowl of hot sauce for my father. The servers are always so nice, and their salsa is amazing. The cheese dip is the best I've ever had, and their food is amazing. The cheese enchiladas are always fresh, and when we decide to get guacamole, it is always fresh and delicious. I highly recommend this restaurant. read more
