I'm was sitting in there almost 20 minutes and not 1 person can to our table , I felt very offended I will never go here again the one on ponchatula have watt better service

Mario C. was extremely rude. Seemed to be bothered by having to take my table, frustrated by the food I decided to order (a light afternoon snack) and proceeded to grab the menus in an angry way mumbling as he was walking away , approached us to take our order by saying "what do you want?". i love this restaurant but this is by far the worst service i have ever received in a restaurant, and being i work in a restaurant i would hate to work alongside a server like him.

UPDATE: So, Hammond La Carreta's is back! The much anticipated re-opening of the newly revamped restaurant is now upon us! The first thing I will tell you is this, there is now REALLY LOUD MUSIC!! I take it it's to give the place a younger, more hip vibe. At that, it fails miserably! It's FAR TOO LOUD, and no one is listening, as they are all now talking louder to hear over it!! By the time we got chips and salsa, I had a pounding headache. It sounds like a car from the 80's with loud music that is rattling on and becoming just pure noise. Not that my recommendation is asked for, but I'd highly recommend they lower the volume. It would be much better as mood/ background music, than an over powering annoyance. Now, once the food arrived, it was sheer pleasure!! We ordered several things to get a feel for the newly renovated kitchen & staff. Server: Great! Food: Even BETTER!!! We had Carnitas, Brisket Tacos, Beer Battered Shrimp Tacos, Shrimp & Bacon Wrapped Brochetas, and of course Rice & Beans. I can sum it all up in one word: PERFECTION!! Each and every item was absolutely DELICIOUS!! I can tell you without a doubt, something has gotten much better than before. Maybe the new kitchen equipment or the actual people preparing the food. Maybe both! Whatever it is I hope they keep it going!! Oh and if you want an extra treat, try the Watermelon Margarita!! I had mine on the rocks and it was wonderful. I'll add pics of the new dishes we tried below.

First time coming to the redone hammond La Carrara and it was was worth the wait! They have a new lunch special menu and a brunch h special menu. We got the strawberry mint margs and the lunch special chimichanga. Delicious!

Great concepts, great looking food, less than great execution and delivery. Carne asada tacos were very good, but everything else was "meh." The Tamales Oaxaqueño with carnitas and salsa verde sounds terrific, but comes out really bland (not quite flavorless). The plate was advertised with pico de gallo and refried black beans. The pico was nowhere in sight and the beans were kind of rust colored red. The beans, and Mexican rice, were pretty good, but just not what I was expecting. The Monterey Shrimp plate (grilled shrimp with grilled veggies) was simply grilled with no seasoning at all. Shrimp and veggies alone are good, but it seems a reasonable expectation to have them somewhat seasoned at a Mexican restaurant, don't you think? Service? I've come to appreciate slower than normal service for the relaxation from the rat race, but when the waiter simply forgets? That's a bit much. (After asking for our check, I had to get up and go find him to ask for the check a second time.) All in all, not a terrible experience- patio dining with great weather, and decent food (just not all I hoped for), made it a good experience. And I believe this local chain can deliver better.

Had a horrible day at work and was referred here by the hotel. Wasn't up to looking at the menu and asked Grace to bring me dinner. Not uncommon for me to let a server choose. Grace brought the Monterey dinner with shrimp. The meal was seasoned well and delicious. Anyone who follows me knows you loose a star if the kitchen doesn't execute. In truth the lost half a star but I round up. The half star was lost to shrimp that had either been steamed or boiled before cooking and as a result had a boiled texture. The texture didn't kill the flavor but the execution was not flawless. Grace's excellent service (1star) game on TV Monday night (1star) Beer Cold 1 (star) excellent environment (1star) food (1/2 star) Grace's service extra 1/2 star they earned all 5!

Someone had mentioned this was the place to be on Tuesdays due to their taco specials. I can't…read moreremember what it is specifically in terms of $$$ amount. All I know is tacos are cheap here on Tuesdays if you dine in here. So of course that's what I did on a Tuesday evening in mid September. Upon arriving, it felt like you were in a college bar with how packed it was with the demographics here of mainly young millenial & gen Z people. Many of the other reviews will attest to the crowds this establishment draws to it. Probably explains why Tuesdays are it's busiest days. Somehow there was a seat at the bar where I got greeted immediately; they gave me a taste of the juicifer beer when I couldn't decide. I enjoyed the citrusy taste so I ordered it and sipped on it while waiting on my tacos. And of course I decided to order another one once the tacos arrived. So the tacos; I went with the lengua, barbacoa, fajita, and the fish. The fish was not on the Tuesday special but figured I had to try it. The tacos are good size and tasty once you squeeze the lime on it; especially for the traditional kinds like the lengua/barbacoa/fajita with the onions/cilantro on them. The fish taco had a cabbage slaw and a baja sauce on top; not bad but I probably would've preferred ordering more of the traditional tacos that were part of the Taco Tuesday special. Of course I did just that by telling the bartender to order another round of those tacos since they were cheap. I forgot to mention to change the fish so they brought out another tray of the same ones I ordered the first time. I thought about saying something but figured I was the one who ordered it and it's my responsibility; so I finished them with a full belly but a smile on my face. These are probably the best tacos I've had in Louisiana. I've been critical of the taco/mexican eats in that state so I'm glad to come across some tacos that are actually worth ordering.

No one stopped by to say they'd be with us shortly or even offered water while we waited. There are only about four tables on the patio, and while two tables were being helped by separate servers, both our table and another nearby table sat unattended with menus the entire time. We understand busy nights happen, but acknowledgment and communication go a long way. The servers in that section spent most of the time laughing and talking with the tables they were already serving while completely overlooking the unattended tables. Even the hostess walked back to the patio area, looked around, and still no one was sent over to assist us. At that point, we decided to move to the bar once two seats opened up. We were helped shortly after sitting down, although the service still wasn't great. The bartender who assisted us came across as uninterested and not very pleasant. We started with the queso, which unfortunately came out room temperature. The pastor tacos, however, were hot and fresh. We also ordered a frozen margarita flight, but by the time the flavors were stirred in, the drinks had already melted down quite a bit. One positive was the lady working behind the bar, who was attentive despite not even being the one serving us. Overall, this visit just wasn't a pleasant experience.

I saw the sign for Margaritas Mexican Restaurant. When I went inside, I was met with a smiling waiter who took me to my table. It took me a few moments to narrow down my selection and when the waiter came for my order, I had 3 items I couldn't decide on. It was either fajitas, arroz con pollo or huevos con chorizo. I told him what I was interested in and he said to go with the arroz con pollo because there is chicken, veggies and rice, it has everything. My waiter, Phillpe, was so right in suggesting that dish. When it came out, it was amazing. The chicken was loaded with all kinds of sautéed veggies on top with a side of rice, sour cream and guacamole. He was spot on. This dish was amazing. The chicken was so flavorful, the veggies were moist and perfect. I took leftovers home and had them for dinner the next evening. If you do not try this place, it would be a mistake. This place was so colorful as you would expect it to be. For me having a knowledgeable waiter is so very helpful when you can't quite decide what to eat. I was so glad I stopped in to try this place. It is worth a visit and really putting it on your restaurant rotation. Phillipe, you are amazing at your job and should be recognized. You love your job and your knowledge of the food is amazing. Honestly, it's nothing like the restaurant I was the first to review a couple years or so ago. Nothing here is the same except the peach margaritas. The food was a complete let down. No idea who is in the kitchen now but none of my usual favs here tasted the same. I didn't recognize and didn't eat the Carnitas. This was a serious disappointment. I literally had no idea what this was when I tasted it. Not carnitas. The enchiladas were also not good at all. But I managed to eat the meat inside, as I needed to eat something. The staff was more interested in looking at their phones and talking to each other at the bar than service. However our Server was friendly. It's clear that this location needs its old chef, and old staff back. The ones who made great food, and gave extremely good service. The ones that made you feel welcomed and at home as soon as you entered the door. Otherwise, this is a waste of their time and the customers. Honestly, if I had the heart to completely give up on this local favorite, I would have given them 1 star. But I'm hoping they can bring it back.
