There has been many a time 2 o'clock comes around and I am looking for a sugar fix, and The Gingerbread House is always there for me. This bakery, while very plain and ordinary looking, is quite fantastic. All the bread, buns, cookies, pies, and brownies are freshly prepared here. You can also purchase things like meat pies, gelato, pop, soup, local honeycomb, and helium balloons. They typically have a lunch special during the week. I recently had their squash soup with carrots and red pepper and it was so delightfully good. I've seen options such as meat pies, sausage rolls, and sausage on a bun as well. My personal favourite is their triple chocolate brownie with milk, dark, and white chocolate chunks on top. They have various other brownies, squares, and goodies for purchase as well. You can buy one brownie, or a whole pan, whatever suits your needs. Their prices are very inexpensive for what you get. A huge brownie costs $0.75, and a large bowl of soup and a bun is $2.75. Keep in mind the next time you visit, they only accept cash and Canadian Tire money (which really comes in handy when you need your next sugar fix and you forget your wallet at home). Don't miss this gem, pull into the Kilworth Business park the next time you drive by, you will not be disappointed.

I had a difficult time choosing a flavour and wasn't offered to try any samples. I read from another Yelper that the service isn't the most cheery and I have to agree. Their freezer had lots of tubs of ice cream if you wanted to buy some to take home. I also read on Facebook that at the end of the season they will put flavours together to sell them quick so you could find a good deal. Eventually I decided on the Denali Moose Tracks which was vanilla ice cream with fudge and peanut butter cups. It was good, but not extra special. I was disappointed with the fact that I ordered a single scoop, the same size as my boyfriend, but his managed to be almost double the amount of ice cream. What gives? The employee who scooped mine did break the cone by accident but I would have preferred he took some time to make it right instead of rushing to get it done. Overall, this place is okay. It doesn't have the heart that some of the other ice cream places have. The service isn't as cheery as the food they are serving but the product is good, as long as they scoop you enough!

This bakery has a beautiful assortment of cakes and pastries to choose from. We both had the ham and cheese croissant which had an authentic cheese inside. We do wish it was heated up though. My husband also ordered the cinnamon twist and mentioned that although it looked pretty, it didn't have as much flavor as he would have liked. My cappuccino was so delicious! It is so difficult to find a proper one around here and Pastry Culture gets it right. The art around the main lobby represents Paris culture perfectly and the interior design was very nice. You can see some of the staff hand making pastries in the back room as you place your order at the cash register.
