La Bête food truck came to my job for lunch and I decided to give them a try. Their menu was different than the usual trucks which I liked. I ordered stew chicken with rice and beans and plantain. I also ordered a side of crab Mac n cheese. I ate the side of Mac n cheese for lunch and it was pretty good but lacked cheese for my liking. It was flavorful but more like noodles with crab meat. The stewed chicken was pretty flavorful and very fulfilling. I didn't add any spice to mine but they do offer mild medium or hot sauce to go on top. I would give the truck another try and order the tacos or curry chicken next time. Prices are very reasonable for the portion size.

How long is too long to be sitting out?

Don't bother with their Burgers you'll like come down with something sitting out for 25+ mins. Smh. ... the chicken and seafood were the better options not petit for their pricing

We had the La Bête Food Truck at our work today and it was excellent! I personally had the Shrimp and Grits with the blue crab gravy - absolutely YUM! Everyone else also really enjoyed their food - Short Ribs, Crab Roll, Curry Chicken, etc. I highly recommend!!

The food was good but was extremely overpriced! Save your money if you want to eat here! Not worth the price despite the great quality.

Purchased Chicken Sandwich and it was way too spicy hot. I love hot and spicy food but had to throw a $17 meal away.

This is a no-frills, hole-in-the-wall spot serving New Orleans-style fried wings, po' boys, and other comfort food. We got a bunch of stuff: - Crowd Pleaser (with fried fish, wings, Cajun fries, egg fried rice): The fish & wings were crispy perfection & still super juicy. We had them with the two most popular sauces- Mambo and sriracha aoili, both were delicious. The fries & fried rice were classic- the person working recommended eating the rice with a sweet sauce I don't remember the name of and gave it to us without any additional cost, which was so nice. - Shrimp Po' Boy: Again, fried & seasoned to perfection! - Chicken Banh Mi: This is a great option if you're wanting to avoid fried foods! Loved the refreshing veggies (cucumber, carrot, jalapeño) & creamy aioli. I do think it was missing pâté though. - Gumbo: Super comforting. Ambiance isn't really applicable since Manchu is take out only (there are some seats for waiting). Service was great, very friendly & fast. There is a free parking lot right next to the restaurant. 10/10 would recommend!

Only street parking is available, but it wasn't too difficult to find a spot. The atmosphere: Very rustic vibe with some farmhouse-style decor. They have table, high-top, bar, and patio seating available. The food: I opted for the Chicken and Waffles with a side of cheese grits. I chose to make it hot for more spice. It's served with one whole waffle, two large pieces of fried chicken, and syrup on the side. The chicken was not seasoned as much as I hoped and wasn't as spicy as I expected, which was a bummer. The cheese grits were alright as well, but not as flavorful as I hoped. My partner ordered the Double Barrel Bowl, and he really enjoyed it. It was packed with pulled pork and was plentiful and filling. The service: Great and kind service from Mave (I believe that is her name but I'm not entirely sure). She informed us about the daily specials and was attentive throughout our visit.

I pulled into the parking lot and this place has a unique setup. All the tables are outside similar to checkers. The place looks like it belongs in a dessert or South of the Boarder based on the color which is odd as well. They take your orders at the walk-up window. When I originally arrived, I didn't see much business but while I waited for my food the cars were pouring in left and right. My hopes for the food increased. There is a menu on the outside that is somewhat difficult to read and navigate. A ton of options with some whopping prices. I ended up ordering the 1 Snack and Fries. I wanted something good but also light as I had another place in Richmond I wanted to try. $14.99 seemed good until I saw this bogus, Local meals tax on top of the state sales tax. This caught me off guard. I ended up waiting in my car for about 20 minutes and later heard my name called over the microphone. The gentleman showed me the food, and it was 3 large pieces of fish. The fish was delicious. The fish was Cooked well, and I could taste the flavor. Way more than I expected. Tartar sauce elevated the flavor. The fires were piping hot and good as well. I wish I had some ketchup, but they were still good. I loved that they were salted but if I had high blood pressure I should have stayed away. You can see the salt on the fries. They were good to me. Overall if I were in Richmond again, I'd definitely stop. The food was good. I would definitely try more options. The customer service was good. The cashier and food distributor were on their A game. Outside could use some love and care but it is what it is.

But let me give you the cheat code: order the shrimp and chicken Alfredo. Thank me later. It's rich, loaded, and the portion size is ridiculous. Like "why is this plate this heavy?" ridiculous. Let's start with the good: The restaurant is exceptionally…read moreclean. It's small, but it gives that quaint, community-eatery feel that's really welcoming. The shrimp and fish were solid, and the gravy on my smothered turkey chop deserves every accolade. It's rare to find true homemade gravy in Richmond, so kudos for that. The yams were top-tier, and the cornbread, while flavorful tasted a bit dry rather than fresh. Now, the food overall was a mixed bag. The chicken lacked seasoning, and the turkey chop, although thick, was unfortunately dry to the point where I couldn't tell if I was eating turkey or chicken. My aunt ordered the grilled salmon cakes, which were a big miss, though she enjoyed her fried cabbage and fried potatoes. Now for the not-so-good: I attempted to call in my order and was placed on hold for so long that I arrived at the restaurant before anyone came back to the line. When I walked in, it wasn't busy at all, no ringing phone, no visible orders, and no customers picking up, which left me confused about why I had been left on hold. Customer service also fell flat. I still tipped 10% because I always do on takeout, but honestly, I regret it. The young lady seemed far more focused on her phone than on making new customers feel welcomed, and that's the kind of thing that determines whether people return. All that said: I'm a firm believer in giving restaurants two chances. If my second visit is better, I'll definitely update my review . For now, it's 3 stars for me.

The decor and the ambiance are invigorating & soul soothing concurrently. On both occasions I ate in the upstairs dining area & I really enjoyed being able to look out their windows & observe the hustle & bustles of Broad Street while dining. The music that played in the background while we dined was the perfect aural companion to a down home Southern cuisine centered meal. As you know, I love when the music in the restaurant compliments the cuisine & Lillie Pearl's playlist is top notch. During our dining time, we ordered their Smoked Wings as our appetizer. The wings were perfectly seasoned & visually appealing. However, I found them to be a bit dry & overcooked for my taste. My dining companion, however, had no problem with the wings texture. She enjoyed them very much. For my main meal, I ordered their Wild Game Burger[a mixture of Waygu Beef, Bison & Wild Boar] with a side order of Fries. The burger was cooked perfectly. It was well seasoned & juicy. The fries were delicious. They were crispy and also perfectly seasoned. I could have eaten a whole plate of just the fries alone. I ordered a cocktail to complement my meal, the Sweetest Thing. It was bright, crisp & a perfect drink for my food. As for Customer Service, Our server was courteous & attentive & knowledgeable about any menu changes we needed to be aware of. Also of note for me was that I had a reservation I needed to change to an earlier time slot & the staff was able to accommodate my request expediently. I also appreciated the fact that they informed me in advance that they were still on the Lunch menu & not dinner as my initial reservations had requested. I find that type of honesty & transparency refreshing & is definitely one of the reasons I will ALWAYS be a loyal Lillie Pearl customer.
