    Wild boar ragu tagliatelle
    Mike T.

Stumbled upon this tiny trattoria during a quick visit to Pienza and so happy that I did. Run by a couple from the Val d'Orcia region, they cooked up pasta that rivaled the higher-priced restaurants we had in Italy. The wild boar ragu tagliatelle was superb. Bruschetta was on par with others we had too. My only regret was not being more hungry and being to try the other dishes. Hands down my favorite trattoria in Italy.

Simply outstanding! We stumbled upon this place while taking a day trip around the hill towns of Tuscany...and boy was it a happy accident. The bread was fresh and soft, the salad had only the best produce, the meat and cheese plate was perfect (rustic presentation of five different meats and five different cheeses...no, seriously, if you come here get this!), the pinci was delicious, and don't get me started on the lasagna...it was heaven smothered in cheese. We drove about 45 minutes to visit the city of Pienza and may well be driving back to revisit this restaurant. The owner even invited us to try a local cheese that was dropped off for him to sample while we were there, and graciously allowed us to drink his lemoncello. Go here go here go here, it's small, quaint, and perfectly fits what we look for in an authentic Italian meal.

Wide noodles with p. mushrooms. Excellent. We liked it so much, we came back 2nd day!

We went because of Yelp reviews & it was fantastic!! We enjoyed it so much, we went back the next day because it was that good! The chef is extremely efficient & organized. ..Only has 7 tables in this small place but he waits on everyone and serves the finest, most delicious food. And he treats his customers very nice. We loved his food, the service was very prompt and oh the music was wonderful. The perfect place.

    Chickpea soup

One of the best restaurants we have visited in Italy! The place is very small but the food is incredible. The pasta is cooked to perfection. The chili pasta was the spiciest dish we have had since we arrived a week ago, and welcome on the cold rainy day. The duck ragu dish was decadent. They had a great selection of local wines. Our favorite dish was the chickpea soup. It was full of flavor with fresh herbs and large enough to share. Worth a visit and a wait if you cannot find a seat immediately. Thank you for the great experience, La Buca di Encea!

A view from the sidewalks- 5 tables is all the seating. Best for groups of 2 or 4.

This tiny place is solid. The tomato bruschetta and large salads are fantastic (and definitely splittable)! The antipasto meats are excellent too. Pasta was solid for italy. It was very hot so we didn't try to wine or eat a lot of other hot dishes but we trust other reviewers. It's a quick, easy bite in this small historical town.

We had a little trouble locating it in…read morethe alley on a rainy day, but the interior had a cute interior and covered patio, where we sat. After a few spritzes (15 euro each), we split an osso buco raviolo with seared fois gras and truffle flakes which was delicious and filling. We were hunkering for something other than pasta, pizza or steak, so had the delicious hamburger with pecorino cheese, served perfectly rare (20). It came with nice French fries and hit the spot. We were seated next to the owner, a pleasant New Yorker with the cutest dachound Julietta. The restaurant is a bit more expensive than the trattorias but well worth it.

Everyone will tell you to order the burger here, and they're absolutely right. Surprisingly, the…read morebest burger I've ever eaten was the Bandita Burger at this Pienza restaurant. While the beef patty itself is exceptional, what elevates this dish is the generous layer of melted pecorino cheese on top. The truffle butter pasta is equally outstanding. The pasta tastes unmistakably fresh and handmade, with rich truffle butter coating every strand perfectly. Together, these two dishes easily satisfy two diners, especially since the burger comes with a side of fries. La Bandita Townhouse is a must-visit when in Pienza. Just remember to make a reservation in advance, particularly for dinner service.
