Apology Letter from La Bodega
Maria S.

The reason I give La Bodega five stars is because Omar has acknowledged his mistake and has written an apology letter. See attachment. Hello everyone Omar from la Bodega send me an apology letter by email for the community, and after talking to him I understood that Yes He made such a horrible mistake we might think that he was trying to take advantage of the situation but after I spoke to Omar I honestly think he had good intentions he was more than happy to write a letter to the community explaining the situation. This letter of apology should be accepted I believe his actions were justified, and understanding. This is the time to start learning how we can be a little more compassionate He is probably just an imperfect human being who makes mistakes just like everyone else, and will hopefully turn this into a learning experience. Let's all show some compassion for others as you would for yourself. I as a member of this community accept this letter as a sincere apology and acknowledgement of an honest mistake. Let's use this moment to be kind.

Honestly, I don't get all the backlash La Bodega is getting. It's a great local market! I have been shopping here for all my groceries (e.g., produce, poultry, snacks) since I moved to the area for work in the Fall. It's a small store, but they always have what I need and/or are willing to help me order it so that it's available the next time I come in. These are genuine people. The negative comments they're getting aren't right. Yes, we are in a global pandemic. Have you all not seen that prices are rising everywhere? Because La Bodega is a small chain, they order their products from larger manufacturers that are ALSO raising their prices. To keep their store afloat and to pay their workers, they, too, have to raise their prices. This isn't some scam on customers - this is sadly the way life is right now for EVERYONE. Additionally, how do you know they're buying from Costco and then reselling at a higher price? I've seen this same line of TP and paper towels at other grocery stores and convenience stores. It's a generic brand - stop making assumptions and demonizing good people! I will continue to support this store both during the pandemic and after. Now is really not a time to criticize. We're all just trying to get through this together.

Shame on them for price gouging. They are trying to make a huge profit due to a health crisis. Do not give them any money

The produce section looking great!

Awesome place! They have a great selection of produce. It's always fresh and whenever they don't have something I want, the manager always helps and asks what it is that I'm looking for and orders it. Been coming here for a while now and the customer service fantastic. Love supporting local store like this one!

The carneceria here is always top notch. The marinade they use for the carne asada is my favorite. They always have fair prices on their meat and chicken. The butchers always have a smile on and I feel welcomed when I come in! The salsas and cremas they have here go great with the meats too. Great customer service and if I need to make an order for a lot of meat, I can always call in a couple days ahead and they'll save it on the side. I love this place, definitely stop by for your bbq needs!

Cooked Pork Carnitas!

La Bodega Ranch Market - Westminster, CA For the serious taco lover! I recently moved to Westminster and discovered this awesome hispanic market that not only sells local fresh fruits and vegetables, but has several butchers that prepare a variety of marinated and non marinated meats from pork to beef. If your a serious taco lover you have got to stop here on a Saturday or Sunday and treat yourself to the carnitas they cook on site. The carnitas are a bit pricey at 6.99 per pound but it is so worth it. Ask for a sample, don't be shy. Just grab a pound or two along with fresh produce and you got lunch or dinner without breaking a sweat. Spend $25 or more and you'll get a free 16oz container of red or green salas that is also made onsite. Now as a half latina i can say its sooooooo good like my mama used to make.. Check it out and don't hesitate to ask the guys for a sample.

Small, but the meat is great. The marinated meat is delicious. The staff is great.

Although a bit far, I love buying my meat here. It's small, but great staff, and the marinated meat is delicious.

I saw that they had KitKats and one of the flavors caught my eye. It was Sakura flavored KitKats. I've never seen one in person because you'll usually find them in Japan. I never seen them before. I remembered that a Youtuber and his family tried some Starbucks Sakura drinks, and one of the family members said it tasted like medicine. For me, it barely tastes like medicine. But it really tasted more like expensive white chocolate and flowers.

It's always nice to have a few things in the room after you've had a long day at the parks! The location was a great spot as well being close to the park. I picked up a handful of basic snack items, such as potato chips, candy, and a few beverages like soda and bottled water. They also had a lot of different types of snacks available in this store, so it was relatively easy for me to find a few things that I could take back into our room. Vons is is a great option to purchase extra food or snacks that may cost too much money to buy either within the parks themselves or from hotel gift shops. The store itself was very clean and very well organized and found what I needed in no time! The checkout process was also fast, and I was able to quickly get out of there as I wasn't looking to buy much and just wanted to bring back everything to the hotel for our stay during the Disneyland trip. Vons was a good stop while on a quick trip to Disneyland. If you are staying near by and would like to pick up some food, drinks or even some quick groceries for your room, Vons is a good option to have close to the parks.

I'm my last three visit, I've accidentally purchased and have seen several items that were expired by months and weeks. Items that are not even close to their expiration item would also go bad, even though when stored properly. I'm not sure what the heck has been going on. But it seems a lot of their products are not being checked. It's frustrating to spend several dollars on food that I have to end up throwing out because it was expired. This has happened in more than one occasion. I noticed that they had several countless items past their expiration date in their shelves since I because my cautious about checking the expiration date. They have some weekly deals. I like the selection they have for chips and snacks. Their meat quality and price isn't bad. They have a ton of the pre-packaged vegetables that are easily prepped. There's a pharmacy located inside as well in case you need to pick up prescriptions. The workers are direct and mainly there to do their jobs. I wouldn't describe them as the friendliest. I'll usually go to the self check-out line. Seeing as how disappointing it's been to see so many expired items, I don't trust to shop here anymore. Makes me sad to think several others are probably wasting their money on expired food.

It didn't matter which noodles we bought as along as my Mom was good with her purchase. During our visit, I walked around the store. It's your typical Asian supermarket, but it has more Vietnamese brands. The store was quite clean and organized. Aisles were a little snugged though. It has all the essentials that a supermarket normally has... fresh produce, meats, seafood, dry goods, household stuff, alcohol section, etc. Lady at the register was okay. She didn't count the boxes and trusted us. Thank you miss! Check-out was easy and quick. Upon exiting the store, a staff member marked our receipt on our way out. I found it interesting that an Asian supermarket would have this procedure in place. It's all good. The store isn't huge, and the layout is a bit tight, but the selection is surprisingly broad with tons of Middle Eastern staples. As a Halal market, there's no pork at all, but what did surprise me was seeing camel ground meat, plus things like tripe that's definitely not my everyday grocery finds. There's a giant section of nuts and dried fruit (almonds, pistachios, cashews, pumpkin seeds, all the goodies). Keep walking and you'll hit a full wall of colorful spices from all over the world, enough variety to make me stare for a while. They also have an entire aisle dedicated to tomato pastes and sauces, both imported and local, which is oddly satisfying to compare. Their fresh flatbread is supposed to be popular, but I went in the evening and it was already sold out. They also carry a tiny Asian section with Korean ramen and a few Japanese/Korean sauces and rice. Fun discovery: the drink section has Egyptian Coca-Cola in glass bottles, made with real cane sugar similar to the Mexican version but definitely different from the U.S. corn-syrup Coke. Near the exit there's a small bakery with pretty decent-looking cakes at good prices, plus a little food hall (including Kabab We Kofta serving Egyptian dishes) and a perfume/accessory shop. Overall, it's a very Middle Eastern-leaning market with lots of unique finds. If you like exploring international ingredients or need things you won't find in American grocery stores, this place is worth a stop. And if you're hungry afterward, there are several Middle Eastern restaurants nearby like Sababa Falafel Shop (Palestinian) and Damascus House Cuisine (Syrian). For produce, quite a few items were cheaper than H Mart, including enoki mushrooms, Japanese yam, daikon, shiitake mushrooms, tofu, and carrots. That said, the Japanese yam didn't look very fresh this time, so I ended up skipping it and buying it at H Mart instead, even though it was a bit more expensive. Some items were priced about the same as H Mart, like napa cabbage ($0.99/lb), onions ($0.39/lb), and bean sprouts ($0.99 per pack). One change I noticed is that cucumbers are now pre-packaged instead of being sold loose, so you can't pick them individually anymore. They're also slightly more expensive than H Mart now. They also had a great deal on Driscoll's strawberries, $0.99 for a 1 lb box, which is definitely worth picking up.
