Honestly, I don't get all the backlash La Bodega is getting. It's a great local market! I have been shopping here for all my groceries (e.g., produce, poultry, snacks) since I moved to the area for work in the Fall. It's a small store, but they always have what I need and/or are willing to help me order it so that it's available the next time I come in. These are genuine people. The negative comments they're getting aren't right. Yes, we are in a global pandemic. Have you all not seen that prices are rising everywhere? Because La Bodega is a small chain, they order their products from larger manufacturers that are ALSO raising their prices. To keep their store afloat and to pay their workers, they, too, have to raise their prices. This isn't some scam on customers - this is sadly the way life is right now for EVERYONE. Additionally, how do you know they're buying from Costco and then reselling at a higher price? I've seen this same line of TP and paper towels at other grocery stores and convenience stores. It's a generic brand - stop making assumptions and demonizing good people! I will continue to support this store both during the pandemic and after. Now is really not a time to criticize. Went to la bodega to get some taco meat, because I can't afford the carne asada at 14.99 a pound. Got three pounds of taco meat At 5.99 a pound. Came home, threw some meat in the pan, and cooked it up. Nothing but fat and gristle. Tried to eat the meat, but gave up. The meat i had cooked when into the trash, and also the meat that was still in the refrigerator. Right into the trash. When i make a mistake, i deal with the mistake. Right into the trash can. I use to love this store for their meats. I used to recommend it to all my friends and family as the "go to" spot in our area. However the last 3 times I went, (gave them a few tries hoping it was an off day) the meat has been beyond salty. It seems as if they changed the way they marinate it. Also, when I got home and started grilling the beef ribs I noticed there was plastic melting on the meat. It seems that instead of taking the ribs out of the plastic before they cut them into thin slices, they just did it with the plastic still on. So there was plastic all over the ribs. Luckily I noticed them on the first batch so I was able to salvage half the bag. However it was still way too salty. read more

Went today to get meat for some tacos so I bought a white onion for 2.50$ the cashier said onion is expensive right now I had already paid for it but damn that's a lot for one onion also a lot of there things didn't have prices I didn't think it would be that expensive also she was charging me 78 cent for cilantro when they had it for 2 for one dollars I went back to tell her so she refunded me back some money she was stilling asking me where did it say that I showed her and she didn't say much sucks cuz I like 5 min away I guess I won't be coming back here again service it's ok there not that nice but it's if you need somthing asap next to me was an older cashier charging a customer way off too he started complaining they really need to get them selfs together or you will start loosing lots of customers. I made a purchase of $28.90 at the store on 10/6/23 at 20:06 using a Vanilla Gift Card. The swipe function was not working, so the woman working the cashier entered the card information manually and the purchase went through. Since that day, I have not attempted to use the gift card until this morning when I found out that the remaining $71.10 had been stolen used to make a purchase on 10/10/23 at a Target in Pico Riveria, CA. This cashier was the ONLY person who had access to this card information and took advantage. Shame on this employee for stealing what was given as a gift. I will not be back to purchase any items at this bodega and I hope the owners and managers do a better job vetting their employees. I do NOT recommend visiting this store. read more

The carneceria here is always top notch. The marinade they use for the carne asada is my favorite. They always have fair prices on their meat and chicken. The butchers always have a smile on and I feel welcomed when I come in! The salsas and cremas they have here go great with the meats too. Great customer service and if I need to make an order for a lot of meat, I can always call in a couple days ahead and they'll save it on the side. My family and I loved to come here since they opened to get different items. My wife has been going by herself over the last few weeks. Each time the younger Arab guy that works there has gone outside and waited for her but stopped short of talking to my wife. Tonight he again waited outside for her to exit and asked her if she was married despite her visible ring. He apologized and went back inside. This is creepy and unprofessional. I recently moved to Westminster and discovered this awesome hispanic market that not only sells local fresh fruits and vegetables, but has several butchers that prepare a variety of marinated and non marinated meats from pork to beef. If your a serious taco lover you have got to stop here on a Saturday or Sunday and treat yourself to the carnitas they cook on site. The carnitas are a bit pricey at 6.99 per pound but it is so worth it. Ask for a sample, don't be shy. Just grab a pound or two along with fresh produce and you got lunch or dinner without breaking a sweat. Spend $25 or more and you'll get a free 16oz container of red or green salas that is also made onsite. Now as a half latina i can say its sooooooo good like my mama used to make.. Check it out and don't hesitate to ask the guys for a sample. read more

Ok. Ive been going to this little market(owned by questionable people), for about 5 years. Never a problem, until today. I bought a flat of eggs 4.79 and a tub of salsa 3.+, should total to 8+change(no tax allowed on foods). But NO, the receipt totaled to 13+change. I point it out to the clerk, I get a blank face and a "omg!?". I ask her to please recalculate, back out the transaction and redo the transaction. She comes back with cash? I say to her politely "I dont want cash, cause that still shows a sale, please back it out(reverse the mistake)". Clerk gets the Big Guns with the ghetto nails, cause Clerk cant speak english does not know how to communicate my request to Big Guns. Big Guns proceeds to ask why I dont want cash. Really? Seriously? Again I ask for them to back out the transaction and do it right, with a sharper tone of voice(dont make me look stupid, just I got gray hair). Also added "Did I say I was an attorney, dont make go legal on you". Just then the crowd of about 6 backed away, cleared the path, took out their phones(so funny). By the way Big Guns finally got it and did the reverse transaction. Double Charging Is Agains The Law!!!!! Buyers be ware, read your receipts from this place. Oh and FYI my comments here are not slander, its factual!!! 1, for double charging, 2, for have the audacity to think they could fool a gray haired Grama, 3, for the potential of them doing this dastardly trick on others, 4, lack of empathy, no apology. Went to el rancho but it was closed. I decided to go to north gate but I passed by la bodega and made a u turn. Best u turn I ever made!!!!! I have to say with all the ingredient I got from here versus all the other times I went to el rancho or north gate, these were the best carne asada tacos I've ever made!!!! I love this market, the produce here are cheap but sometimes you get what you pay for. The cashier's here I love, they are great people and very helpful. The prepped Chicken is of the hook. The prepped carne asada use to be amazing but now it has no flavor and it's too pricey. They butchers are very helpful but it can be a little better. The old butcher that was there before I think his name was Hector, he made that carne asada taste like heaven. These new butcher can't prep asada at all. read more
