On my first night in Moltrasio I took the concierge's recommendation for a good non-hotel restaurant and La Baia didn't disappoint. The octopus appetizer was very well prepared and the octopus itself quite fresh and not over cooked. For my main, I couldn't decide between the two fresh fish options, so the waiter offered to provide a filet of each, which ended up being perfect. And the two sides...the vegetables and risotto were exceptional. I went with a local Pinot Grigio which was quite nice, though it could have been a bit colder. Service throughout the meal was attentive and pleasant and the lake view was amazing. On my next visit to Moltrasio, I will certainly be back.

Reading any of the bad reviews on this place is shocking! I'm giving this place five stars for service, food, and setting. This was the first restaurant we ate at in Italy and it set the bar extremely high for the rest of the trip. We arrived at about 1:45 without reservations (they close at 2:30 and reopen at 7 for dinner) and were promptly seated outside with an amazing view. I ordered eggplant ravioli and perch for an entree and my bf ordered bucatini with a truffle butter sauce and the perch for an entree as well. They shaved the truffle for his pasta dish right at the table which we both thought was amazing. The pasta dishes were superb and I'm not exaggerating when I say our plates were clean in about three minutes flat. The lightly fried lake perch was amazing as well and came over a bed of delicious parmesan rice. This restaurant is definitely a must if your in the Moltrasio area!

Fantastic food, we had the oso buco with polenta, salami fresh, tagliatelle with boar, cannoli, and lasagne. All were excellent. Well seasoned, good portion size and hot and fresh. The lasagna was great, wonderful bechamela sauce. Canoloni with red sauce and cheese was baked to perfection and clearly hand-made. The service was very nice and helpful. Our broken Italian and her English was just fine. Toward the end of the meal, what I believe was the mother came out and asked how everything was. Tuto bene? (Is everything good?) She asked, we replied tuto molto, molto bene (everything was very, very good!) . She smiled and patted us on the shoulders as a thank you. We plan to return before leaving this area.

The lovely server mentioned a starter of porcini mushrooms and spaghetti which she raved about and recommended. My wife ordered it as the starter which we shared, it was delicious. I ordered a seafood starter and seafood spaghetti with clams, etc, both quite good. For mains I had a perch, my wife had the duck. A critique would be that the mains perch and duck were both served luke warm. Tasted great but must have been a little kitchen delay in getting them to the table. We'd encourage them to work on that important timing a bit. Another is that the silverware was thin and round. While clearly high quality, it makes it very difficult to hold and turn. The servers all have heard this complaint before, quile not a reason to not dine here, they should be replaced. Desert was a small gelato and fruit dish, good. One issue that came up...remember that porcini starter our server recommended? When the check came there was a 100 euro charge. I pointed it out to the server who mentioned it was the starter pasta. My eyes blinked but I paid it since she seemed aware of it. Nicely, the restaurant did call me the next day and apologized profusely as this was clearly an error, the special porcini mushrooms w/pasta starter should have been 30 Euro. They quickly corrected the error and refunded the full amount. Very nice and thank you for that! We will be back to Urio next summer and will be sure to give Acquadulce another try and hope you do to! It's a lovely spot.

I loved this restaurant…read more Fair warning: It is a bit of a hike to get to Piazzaga. Up the main road (a steep, cobbled road that should really only be taken with a four-wheel drive vehicle) it is around 6km. If your'e walking, park in Torno and ask a local how to find the Mulattiera to Piazzaga which is a long stairway that takes a more direct route to the village. Neither way could be considered easy, however. As I was told when I was coming here: "Wear good shoes and bring water." The area is gorgeous and the vistas of the lake are spectacular. I assure you, the restaurant and the beauty of the area are worth the hike, even if you're not normally a hiker. The restaurant itself is a cute little place consisting of a small dining room, a patio overlooking the lake and mountains, a bar and a small kitchen. The staff is friendly and Alex is the self-described best chef in Piazzaga. I fully agree. I enjoyed the rustic decor of the restaurant and while the patio has only patio furniture, it is worth having a nice meal out there on a nice day for the view. Sadly there are a couple of poorly placed trees in a lot below that prevent a perfect view of the lake, but that can hardly be helped. As to food, I was there for lunch. I started with Canederli which, as an American, I had never had the privilege of trying before. Thus, I cannot compare it to anyone else's. I can, however, say that it was fantastic in flavor and presentation. For my main course I had Roast Rabbit and Polenta. All that was left on the dish when I finished was some rabbit bones. I'll let that speak for itself. For dessert I had cake, made that morning at the restaurant, and espresso. The cake was more a combination of what we would call a tart and a cake in the US, so it was a bit different than what I expected but it was very good. All-in-all I have to say my experience here was fantastic. If you are in the Como area, it is worth a bit of a drive and hike to get up here and give it a try.

The the room was very nice with the exception, the air conditioning didn't work. We called the front desk and they sent a repairman the following day. We were later informed the guest in the room next to us had the same experience with our room and then they move them next-door. We felt tricked, because they still gave us the room knowing the AC didn't work and the first night, first day 1.5 days/night was extremely hot (to the extent at 2 AM we had to move to another room to sleep and then move back in the morning). Important note, if the AC does work, the front desk controls the AC temperature ! If you want your room cooler, call the front desk and ask them to turn it down (no they won't continually turn it down so you may need to call them a few times throughout your stay). Regarding the Ristorante Imperiale, how can I politely say, terrible ‍ ! Zero stars 0! The location is wonderful lakefront, but the food is Not. We made reservations, well in advance, three months before, specifically requesting a Lakefront view, they were going to see us in the back with no view whatsoever. The manager was no help, he's a lot of talk but that's about it. After a few exchanges and showing him the email sent 3 months prior, they seated us it in a beautiful table Lake side. Although, the service was not good at all. We ordered their special ravioli with lobster, it was not good. The appetizers, again not good and they were served on a bed of corn nuts. The corn nuts were good. Lol! Sadly i cannot have recommend the restaurant, not the food or the service. There's so many better choices, most restaurants were fantastic.

We were hoping for a table by the lake, but due to a rain and thunderstorm, we were seated inside but had a beautiful view. We ordered cocktails right away, and they came to the table and were delicious. The waiter brought out an amuse bouche which was perfection on a plate. Two plates each with two beet tarts, and two crackers with chicken mousse, and then an egg with the top removed filled with egg foam and prosciutto chunks on the bottom. We loved everything and looked forward to our dinner. Service up to this point was excellent. We each ordered our dinners, and my husband asked for a wine list. Our dinners were delivered, and a server dropped off the wine list. My husband waited and waited while eating his meal and no one came back to take his wine order, our server appeared MIA and never came back to check on us, our meals, if we wanted another glass of wine. We finished our meals, and we sat and sat, and sat for nearly 40 minutes before our server showed back up with the dessert menu. At this point we were annoyed. We all expected much more of a Michelin-star restaurant. We declined dessert, and again we waited at least 20 minutes if not more to get our bill. What started out as a special evening with a stunning view and excellent food ended on a negative note. The restaurant is quite pricey, and the food was delicious, but there are other restaurants in Moltrasio that are just as good with better service.
