Not a good experience!  We hired L3 Landscape Design to scrape our backyard, install a drain system, completely level the yard, and resod with San Augustine grass.  Once completed, the yard was not level and in addition, we had a lot of separation between the grass squares. There were many areas with noticeable low spots and indentions.  We we were told the dirt and grass needed to settle for a while, so we waited for a short period of time before contacting L3.  The owner is friendly and pleasant but not good at following up in a timely fashion, or with overseeing the crews, and ensuring that the work gets done to the clients' satisfaction.  We had to reach out to L3 several times before we could get the crew back over to attempt to correct the issues.  There seemed to be a lack of communication and clear direction with the crews. When the owner/sales came out to discuss our concerns, she was full of excuses instead of acknowledging that the entire yard was not level.  And mentioned that some of it was due to our dogs.  The crew returned and put in a very light amount of top dressing, but it did not begin to resolve the issues and the yard is still completely uneven.  There are still holes, and trenches between the grass squares, which makes it difficult to mow.  Our yard visibly looks more uneven than before L3 started their work.  The drain system seems to be working fine, but the yard does not look like a professional landscaping crew did it.  We have a very large yard, and we feel like they did not use enough grass squares to adequately and properly cover the yard. It appears that instead, they tried to make do with an insufficient amount. We spent a lot of money to have this work done, much more than anticipated, and we are very disappointed. L3 over-promised and under-delivered on our job.  Therefore, we would not recommend L3 Landscape Design for this type of work. read more

Horrible experience all the way around. I wish i could leave no stars. Dont waist your time with this company. I called to get quote on project only to be told to fill out an online form. Fill out the online form and 3 weeks went by no response. I called again and was given apologies that my email went to junk mail - was able to schedule a onsite visit. Came for the visit ask me to provide requested information which I did. After a month and half later and numerous emails still have not receive a quote and numerous emails has been ignored. I rather for Lauren to be up front and say NO I dont want to do your project. I requested a full lawn resod new flower beds and entry way flower and a pool. I am glad I did not move forward with this company becasue i am thinking now I would have paid my retainer and monies for the project and the project would not have been completed. I am surprise of the many 5 star ratings - they must be paid ratings. The only reason why i reached out to the company because of the work they posted on their site and the ratings. read more

Lauren made me go out a complete a job, tells me she will forward payment through Zelle and its beein over 4 days and she can't seem to answer, return the calls in regards the payment. If you run a company aswell is very unprofessional of your part to ask small companies to go out to complete jobs with lies... we are hard working people, youll should be ashame. I just moved into the area about a year ago and decided to redo my backyard around the pool area. I just looked up local landscape design companies in the area and came across L3. I couldn't be more impressed with the professionalism and work that was done. Pricing was much more competitive than the first I received. I personally worked with Lauren and cant say enough about her. I ended up getting turf around my pool, new drainage and all new landscaping. Lauren was there every day and every evening making sure everything was looking great. I am referring this company out to anyone that asks about landscaping in Houston! A+ work L3 Designs! read more

They were responsive to our requests and spent the time necessary to make sure we got the outdoor kitchen that best fit our space. Lauren and her staff are creative and listen to clients' ideas when designing installations. As far as maintenance, however, the company is drastically lacking on customer service know-how. It becomes impossible to communicate with Lauren, the owner; messages get delayed for days because email is the only thing that gets through, and by the time she gets a response to you, and you have a question, two weeks have passed. Lauren put me on a "quarterly" maintenance program. When the quarterly date came and went, I asked the office manager and she said that quarterly was every four months, not three. Not my definition of quarterly, but OK.........so I waited one more month and they forgot me again. I understand they have hired someone to be in charge of maintenance, but I have cancelled my contract due to the sense that my business is not important to Lauren. read more

Lauren did our front yard re-design last fall. She seemed professional and confident. When she told me that she wanted to be "my landscaper for life" I was sold. She said she wanted to know about any problems/concerns I had so that she could fix it. Her crew was very professional and we were thrilled with the results. Flash forward to this spring. She came to my home at my request to talk about refreshing the front beds and starting some work in the back yard. She said she would get back to me. That was a month ago. She has not responded to emails or voice mail. Which was an issue this fall as well, but I was so happy with the finished product I let it slide. I'm really disappointed. read more

There should be a rating of no stars. Initially, I met with Lauren regarding a new pool install and adjustments on my sprinkler system. The pool plan she presented to me was entirely off scale. She apologized and promised to have a new design in a week. It has been over a month and still no redraw ! Lauren did a re-design of our front patio/yard this fall. Lauren came to our house to look at the space and talk with us about what we wanted. We expressed that we wanted a low maintenance entertaining space and talked through a variety of potential options. Lauren put together a hand drawn design with every potential feature/option; we then had a very open conversation on budget - Lauren had itemized the cost of each feature so that we could build out exactly what we wanted within our desired price range. Lauren's team was timely, professional and very respectful of our home and our neighbors. The work was completed in a timely manner and the end result is beautiful. The plantings are extremely low maintenance, per our request, and Lauren's team performs quarterly landscaping. Overall we had a phenomenal experience with Lauren. She was extremely responsive, professional, friendly and really tailored her work to our style. We would highly recommend L3 and are thrilled with our redesigned yard. read more

I am soo disappointed in Lauren, the owner of L3 designs. She did a great job on my neighbor's yard so my husband and I decided to use her about a year ago. We met with her and were really impressed . We got an email the next week saying her son was sick but her design and estimate would be coming in the next few days. We never received either and after several phone calls and emails and numerous excuses why we still weren't receiving anything in writing we stopped getting any responses back. Approximately a month ago the same experience happened to my son and his wife. Its like she drops off the face of the earth.Forgot to mention that my neighbor also tried to contact her to do some additional work and also gave up In short, don't waste your time dealing with her. read more

We hired L3 at the end of 2015 to create a backyard living space and could not have been happier that we did so. Lauren, Mike and team are easily the best contractors we have worked with and we have worked with quite a few in updating our house. They are reliable, honest and respectful. What also makes them so great is that they genuinely care about providing long term, functional solutions. They aren't going to just take the quick or easy approach. Specifically, we had some drainage issues which L3 fixed even though it was not originally encompassed in our plan. Additionally, they always kept the backyard in a clean state and even fixed little things such as a leaky hose connector even though we never even told them we had a problem with it. One of the most appreciated things too was that we never went over budget. In fact, L3 even threw in some extras as a bonus (seasonal Christmas flowers in front yard, drainage solutions, constant maintenance of the yard during the project). This is the first time we have ever worked with a contractor who did not under bid the project. When we first met with Lauren, we were not sure what to expect. We discussed with her our general thoughts of our backyard space and requested some items to be included in her proposal (pergola, fountain, etc). But when she met with us the second time with her drawings and ideas, we were blown away. We had met with several other landscape developers but after seeing Lauren's drawings, it was a no brainer. Several of the other contractors could only give us vague renderings in our consultations unless we committed to use their services and paid a design fee. Lauren also came in at a lower price than others and was able to include much more in the project (grill area, fountain, fire pit, pergola). After selecting Lauren, her and Mike got the materials in place and started right away with breaking ground. We had a pretty rainy December which did put the project a little behind schedule but we appreciated Mike and Lauren's resolve to always keep us apprised of schedule changes. Additionally, Mike always reinforced the importance of making sure things were done right and not hastily. Obviously weather is something that is out of their control. And L3 did everything possible to make up that lost time by working extra Saturdays. I think Mike even came in the day of or day after his wedding which we said was completely unnecessary. However, it just gives you an idea of their commitment to the project. In the end, the weather issues didn't really even matter because we ended up not far off the schedule. More importantly though, we ended up with the best backyard possible. Almost every friend or family member who has been to our house is shocked with the transformation and all have wanted Lauren's contact info including neighbors. For the first time ever, there is zero hesitation on our part to refer a contractor to a friend or family member because there's nothing negative to say about their services. L3 is a class act company and awesome to work with. I highly recommend this company. read more
