This location is okay at best. There a few standout pieces that make the trip worthwhile but there isn't much that would justify traveling to visit this particular L Train Vintage. I also found the staff to be very "watchful" around African American shoppers( including myself). This store is more-so geared towards men and those that are heavily into urban street style & denim-wear. There were some authentic vintage pieces for reasonable prices which is why I gave this location 2 stars instead of 3. They also have a bunch of random outfits like military uniforms with names of their former owners, oil rig clothes, mechanic overalls, GE repairman clothes, bomber jackets, jeans for $8. This place definitely fits the description of a high end thrift/resale shop. It's a chain and I think my daughter's friend brought us here because it's huge and it's supposed to be the best location. We were not disappointed. We spent about an hour and got a large bag full of clothes for me, my daughter and my husband for $100. (I got a newer pair of Cole Haan slides, a beautiful lace skirt, a silk tie for my husband for only $3, two Nike jackets, and a bunch of other stuff, all in great condition.) I travel everywhere with my bike & without lock because thieves are fast in NY & also my bike is very expensive & desireable, due to its weight. I read not so nice reviews about this place & chose to visit support & leave a great positive review however after arriving there yesterday a very rude staff member refused me due to that I had my bicycle in hand, being that there is plenty of floor space in the front of that store I could've surely left my bike in the floor front and show my support for L train vintage. All the bad reviews are true! I went to the L train vintage on Dekalb last week to pick up a few things with a friend of mine. There are no fitting rooms open due to COVID. VERY understandable. However, a lot of places are bending the return policies to compensate for their lack of fitting rooms. Before I made a purchase, I asked a store worker (the ONLY worker staffed that night) if these clothes were refundable. She said yes. I said "Oh really, I can get a refund?" she said yes. After being reassured multiple times, I made the purchase with full confidence that I would be able to return the clothes that didn't fit. The following week, I went back up to the store to return some clothes that didnt fit. There were 4 people staffed and a different worker this time. I asked to return some items and she said there was a no refund, no return, no exchange policy. I told her that her worker informed me otherwise and who the worker was, but she said there was nothing she could do. So unorganized, rude, and unaccommodating. As I waited for my friend to come, the woman who denied my return and the woman who lied were staring at me walking around the aisles near me with NOTHING to do. I was def being watched so I began to stare back and they eventually stopped. They also assumed that I couldn't speak spanish.. never a smart move while working in front of customers. Again. UNORGANIZED, RUDE, and TERRIBLE customer service. No one ever asked if I needed help, they just talked about me while I was right there. DO NOT GO!! read more

I would give L Train Vintage a higher score if I based it on my great finds and not the customer service. I have found tons of great things here. Today, I garnered a pair of almost new Sanita clog boots for 13 bucks! I have a ton of gently used Coach bags, A Pour LaVictoire Butler Bag, several faux fur coats, hand knit throws and even a wooden cat a salesperson sold to me for 5 dollars. The antiques are not for sale, but I guess he was in a good mood. I agree with the reviews regarding blacks being followed around. I too have experienced it. I don't care, I am out for a bargain. Racist. Please do not shop here. I had just left Urban Jungle, where I had been followed the whole time I was shopping, being that I was the only black customer. So i popped into L train since its only a couple of train stops away. It was my first time there. I walked in and the two sales women just continued chatting amongst themselves. I even stopped in front of them to see if i was even going to get a hello. Nothing. So i started shopping when one of them approached me and asked me to leave my bag in the front of the store. I apologized and told her i didnt know, she pointed to the sign that says bags must be left in the front. I said Ok, its my first time here, I told her she didnt even speak to me when I walked in to say welcome so how was i even supposed to know about the bag rule??? There was one asian man shopping with his large sized backpack, and a white woman with a tote bag. Neither of them were asked to leave their bags in the front so i went back to the counter to ask the sales woman why that was. She said the man told her he had left his bag behind the counter before and money went missing. Dont you think she should have asked him to just remove his money and leave his bag behind the counter? If the rule really is "All bags must be left in the front" In the end I told her she only asked me to leave my bag behind the register because I am black. plain and simple. Never coming here again. Wow so shocked with the horrible customer service. It says it closes at 8pm I live 45 minutes from this place, And got there 7:40 I was so excited that I made it in time and the lady literally shut the door in my face yelling that she closes shop at 7:45. I explained my situation and she still couldn't let me go in and just buy these 1 paid of pants I went there specifically for. Good finds but sometimes they're lacking in interesting/quirky inventory. Maybe a year or so ago they had a lot better pieces but lately it's been run of the mill. The men's section seems better than before though. They have some nice cowboy boots near the window, a lot of military style stuff and jeans. This time around I just got some adidas sweats for an upcoming longgggggg bus ride. $10 was a little pricey considering all jeans are $8 but I needed them and they fit well so yea. I guess for reference since I'm black, I had no issue now or never with this store and neither did my brown skin mister. DISAPPOINTING!!!!!!! I used to be able to find so many really good items when they were on Metropolitan right off the Graham Ave L train stop. I mean I ended up with tons of good quality skirts, blouses and have gotten at least three really cool jackets. Then they announced they were shutting down that location and moving to DeKalb which I was soooooo stoked for because my in-laws live right up the street and I was moving to that side of bk anyway. There was a really decent thrift store already on DeKalb. Found lots of really great items there too. My first thought when the new location was posted was "how is all the selection from the huge metropolitan location going to fit in the DeKalb location, it is considerably smaller?" Answer they turned the basement storage area into part of the retail space. Great idea! But it seems like that's where all the extremely weird clothes go to die. The second level is basically Halloween year round and never worth the energy to bending my legs. I have given this location a gazillion chances and I never seem to find anything worth purchasing. The prices don't seem as cheap as they once were, the few things I am able to want to buy were stained or holey. Just very consistently disappointing. read more

Racially profiled as soon as I walked in the door. The Hispanic lady chased me down and took my bag behind the counter. I wouldn't have mind, as they do have a sign saying that bags must be left at the front, but everyone else in the store kept their backpacks/large bags on them. I confronted the lady as I was purchasing my items, and she proceeded to give me an attitude and tried to gaslight me by repeatedly asking me, "what is your problem?" When Atlantis Attic closed last year, I went its brother/sister stores Urban Jungle (on Knickerbocker) and No Relation (ironic) in Manhattan. Atlantis Attic definitely had the best selection out of all the L Train Vintage stores, and incredibly cheap as well. I finally caved in and decided to browse the DeKalb Avenue location, the one that the old AA told us to go to when it shuttered its doors. Nestled in a residential area, the selections were pretty standard for an L Train Vintage shop. I ended up buying some track jackets, some plaid button downs, and a fall jacket. Not bad for 60 bucks. I think if you look at it as a regular thrift store, as comparing it to a Goodwill or Salvation Army, I'd take L Train Vintage and all its locations over the others. As compared to the other L Train Vintage stores, this is just standard. We pine for Atlantis Attic because that store was just right....but it's gone now. Just gotta keep digging to find the gems now. read more

This one was very neat and clean and everything was in great condition. I was unable to find a jacket but I have plans to visit again in the future to see what new stuff they get. This location just lost a frequent customer. They closed the store 15 minutes before the actual time it was supposed to close--8 pm! I traveled all the way from uptown just to come shop for a few minutes. If you are running a retail shop you should never close before the time that the shop actually says it closes! I called them to complain about their lack of service and they just brushed it off without a care in the world for what I had to say. This place is cool--not sure why the reviews are so "meh". They are on the edge of what's "in" right now in the sense of vintage. But I wouldn't say it's dirt cheap. I did find fucking awesome doc marten Mary Janes. Lots of quirky t shirts, over alls, high waisted jeans and shorts, leather purses, fleece jackets, sneakers... One thing is there are not mirrors in each dressing room. But I guess it allows for more people to change at once. I'm overall highly impressed and satisfied. Will be going back. read more

Great selection if stuff, they have a crap ton of locations near (ish) each other. My favorite one, which I think has the best selection out of them, is the one next to Urban Jungle. My friend and I arrived at L Train roughly 35 minutes before closing. We looked around as I gathered some things to try on, only to be roped off from going downstairs 20 minutes before closing, which I thought was quite odd. Whatever, there were fitting rooms upstairs, too. I grabbed some jeans and headed to try them on while the owners 4 year old daughter was screaming about closing in 5 minutes. This was at like 7:35, 20 minutes before closing. She did this pretty much until we left. This made the two whole minutes I felt I had to try on clothes VERY rushed and annoyed. The staff, which I am assuming were her parents were encouraging this behavior as she went around the store yelling at customers to leave. I set some things down at 7:40 and was run up to by the girl and another lady telling me to leave and asking if they can put the clothes away, not even having looked in the mirror (which was only available outside the fitting rooms yet.) The whole time I thought I was crazy because I ***should've*** had 20-30 minutes of time left to be a customer. The man behind the counter was very rude when I asked for my bag he was holding back, and left at 7:45, and laughed at how ridiculous the whole thing was when we also noticed they had already turned over the closed sign. I am told this is not the first time they have acted this way and am so surprised that a group of people would be proud or even okay with the way they allow this shop to be run. read more

This store is racist and caters to caucasians with money, if your not caucasian be ready to be asked for id when using a credit card or debit card. I never get asked for id using my card at an other thrift store I have ever went to or any other store for that matter. Also the clothing selection is underwhelming to say the least, nothing is really vintage mostly 2000's and up, seems to cater to the 20 something crowd, tons of camo and denim rubbish, nothing high end really. Go to stores like Metroplis in Manhattan if you want high end gems. The prices are much cheaper here but you are not finding grade a gems at all. I always have an extremely unpleasant experience at this L Train Vintage. For starters, I love a good vintage shop, but I never (and I mean NEVER) find anything at this store. Is it the inventory? The set up? I feel extremely overwhelmed from the moment I walk in. The fact that the staff never greets you or asks if you need assistance is another tally for why I've stopped shopping here. I tryyyyy to give L Train Vintage a chance..I really do. Unfortunately, I usually end up walking in, being annoyed by the lack of customer service...and then walking right back out. No it's not as good as Vice Versa or Atlantis Attic used to be and the shoe and purse selection is terrible, but there are still some gems to be had and it's still cheaper than many other vintage places in Brooklyn. Due to the fact that I am from germany and use to go to thrift shops in germany as well I can definitely say that the prices are incredible! So both me and my girlfriend decided to hit this L Train vintage after have a great shopping experience a different one. Yet when we were shopping around in this one in Bushwick, we both notice store worker following us both while we were shopping. Now this wasn't a regular, store worker or representative fixing the racks or straighting the clothes up. I notice the woman who was following me eating a muffin and drinking her coffee, and apparently wasn't doing any store up keep to be so close to me while I was shopping. Once I noticed her following me around I didn't ask her anything, I just gave her a look and I believe she knew what that look was for because she nearly dropped her coffee. Now in normal circumstances if a worker locked eyes with a "customer" they would ask "do you need help with anything?" And that would equal good customer service. This didn't happen leaving a bad taste in both mine and my girlfriends mouth. So the next time I'm there I be looking for these signs, it this is normal business practice for your Bushwick store, I will let people know in my next review of this store. read more

This store is great for men when the winter gear is released, as for summer not that good anymore unless you like camo cargo shorts or khaki not much vintage anymore I used to find many nice vintage 60's/70's disco shirts and bowling shirts now it seems like everything is modern 90's and up, lots of t shirts and button downs, used to be great for sport jersey's but they don't seem to put them out much anymore, also they have a downstairs that is neglected with lots of unsold merchandise basically loads of button down plaid shirts nobody wants that they switch from other stores. They need to have better men's selection. read more
