But tipping when service wasn't up to par and saying your staff only survive on tips is a bit rude. Asking if the service was good is a moot point if the customer didn't tip. Why would someone tip and encourage uneven nails, applying the polish and allowing it to bubble, etc... if they were new and needing to be trained, it would be best to let the customer know. But that wasn't the case I assume, just a bad job and rushing through the clients.

The…read moreowner is a very nice guy, and the other woman who seems to be a lead or manager has always been pleasant as well. But today was not it. The vibe was completely off, and the attitude of the woman who did my toes was, in my opinion as a paying customer, unacceptable from start to finish. She barely acknowledged me and seemed annoyed when I asked her to cut my toenails shorter than I initially thought I wanted them. It was still early in the pedicure process, so there should not have been any issue accommodating that request. While filing, she filed directly into my skin and I physically pulled away. There was no acknowledgment or apology. Then she placed the hot stones immediately and directly onto my leg, and when I flinched and verbally said "ow" because they were extremely hot, again there was no apology or acknowledgment whatsoever. On top of that, there was little to no effort put into the massage portion of the spa pedicure -- which is honestly the main reason most people upgrade to the spa package in the first place. The massage lasted maybe a minute or two per leg with no real pressure or effort. Then I apparently committed the crime of asking for a second coat of the polish I brought with me. That request was met with an eye roll. The worst part, though, was how rushed the UV curing process was. Instead of allowing the full recommended cure time, she repeatedly pulled the lamp away early. Because of that lack of attention to detail, the polish on my pinky toe literally came off in my hand while I was checking whether it had cured properly. Still no apology. No acknowledgment. Just visible annoyance that she had to redo her own work. Even after redoing it, she again failed to properly cure the clear coat, color, and top coat until I finally had to directly ask her to allow the polish to fully cure. She also ignored my request to add another coat of polish to that nail the same way she had done on the others. To make matters worse, she then left me sitting there with the UV lamp still on for about six minutes for what should have only been a 90-second cure while she started another client next to me. It felt extremely rude and dismissive. For context, I was not rude at any point. I simply asked for things I wanted as a paying customer while also providing my own materials. And let's also note -- I do my own nails at home, so I understand the process, proper cure times, and the basics of good nail service. Knowing that someone is intentionally rushing through your service and being openly rude for no reason is incredibly frustrating. When I went to pay, I spoke to the woman at the front who finally acknowledged that my nails were cured and ready. There was no normal assistance out of the chair or general courtesy that I saw other techs providing to other customers throughout the salon. I did mention my concerns, and her response was basically to ask for someone else next time. Even after they clearly recognized this technician's lack of professionalism and courtesy, I still tipped her -- even though, honestly, the service did not warrant one. Yet again, there was no thank you, no acknowledgment, nothing. I've been to many salons before, and even on bad days I've had far better experiences than this. I'm highly disappointed and unfortunately will not be returning. Shame how one bad experience can ruin it....

We arrived early and picked out our colors. My daughter was taken over to start her pedi at 6pm. I could see they were backed up and I wasn't started until 6:15. By that time my daughter was moving on to her mani...fast forward to 6:45 and I'm still getting a pedi. They close at 7pm so unfortunately I didn't get to hang with my daughter and I didn't get a manicure. I love my pedi and have been happy previous visits. So, first things first - Alpha Nails is not a fancy salon, but it does its job. It's a salon for the working woman (and well-groomed working man / person). I am sure there are bougier salons in the area if you want a place that's more *aesthetic.* This is a salon that takes a large volume of customers and offers a wide array of services. In fact, that's probably the best part about this place - you rarely wait for your appointment (unless it's peak time in summer and the place is slammed) and you are out quickly for most services - not to mention, the prices are extremely fair. They will take walk-ins but in the summer, this place gets super packed. I've been to a few techs here, but I always return to Anna. She's THE BEST nail artist I've ever been to. Whether the design is simple or complex, Anna continually delivers (seem some of my photos for proof). I do not know how she works her magic with that little paintbrush of hers - it's actually insane. In addition, I can push my nails to six weeks after she's done (which I don't recommend, but sometimes I am desperate) and they will NOT BUDGE. They have NEVER fallen off! She has also occasionally called me personally if there is a time issue - because she knows I am traveling from up north - which I think is such a thoughtful gesture. (PS - I usually do a gel mani with her!) In addition, now that I've gotten to know Alpha Nails, they are so incredibly warm and welcoming to their returning customers. They were hospitable when they didn't know me personally, but now that I've been coming here since 2017 (yikes! time flies), there is a different level of congeniality. They treat their returning customers well - and that's a sign of a good business! Several customers here are summerbirds (like me) and they always return to Alpha Nails. I've also gotten my eyebrows waxed here and pedicures. I will admit they've cut back on their standard pedicure over the last few years (who hasn't cut back), but their spa pedicures are totally worth it if you want to splurge. In a way, Alpha Nails has ruined my experience for other nail salons because I will forever compare all other salons to this one. This is a family-run local business that I am proud to support!

Strong glue lasted a long time, but when I went to have them removed after eight weeks not even two minutes of soaking and ripped up most of my nail with the tip, which I probably could've done myself. There are other places looking for some more good customers who will take their time and do a job not only you can be happy with but the salon can be proud of. The price has change from when you call into when you go in although they did honor it when I called them out on it. but make sure you know what you're paying and what you're getting before you sit down and if you don't care about the experience and would even like it to be faster than it used to be, or is elsewhere if you don't mind, skipping a hand, massage or lotion or washing before putting the polish on, this may be the place for you. Candy and all of the excellent staff put the customer ( in this case ....ME) first.
