Dinner for 2. Excellent!…read more SERVICE: 5.0. We were very fortunate to be able to dine on the terrace on a warm September evening, as seating was limited due to COVID and consequent staffing issues. The service was attentive, warm, and accomodating. AMBIANCE: 4.5. Evening on the terrace (which faces East) was pleasant. FOOD: 4.5. Everything was excellent. - 5.0: (Appetizer) Marinated grilled seasonal vegetables. Excellent; eggplant exceptional. - 4.5: (Main dish) Coxinha de poulet noir fermier de Burgogne with vegetables. Very nice. - 4.5: (Main dish) Fish of the day (Salmon) with vegetables. - 5.0: (Dessert) Crème Brulée. Served in a shallow dish. Crust was nice and thin. Outstanding. Rich wine and apertif selection.

We asked our hotel to pick another close restaurant and they chose, Le Chevreuil. At first arrival, we felt like they may not be open. We poked our heads in a little more and noticed staff on the patio in the back. They welcomed us in and we sat outside overlooking the village of Meursault. We did not order wine. I know, we are in the heart of the French wine country, but, in our defense, we had three different wine tastings earlier that day. Don't @ me. The menus are in French. We asked for an English version and they did not have one. Lucky for us, our hostess was kind enough to walk us through damn near everything on the menu. I say lucky, because the first dish I tried to google translate came up "spider" which would have made everything wrong in the world. My wife ordered chicken dish and I had the three course with dessert. They brought mini french breads and a small cup of some soup for my wife when they brought my zucchini bowl of Art. I could have just sat and at the zucchini Art bowl all night. It was a delight. Creamy, crunchy, salty, sweet, almost every experience for the mouth in a single dish. The beef was cooked Sous vide which I think makes meat perfect. The reduction was exquisite and could be sold in a jar or by the gallon. My wife enjoyed her chicken dish although she is always hesitant to eat chicken with the bones in place. We Americans are sometimes spoiled with our food preparations. Dessert was again, a work of art as is most of the food outside of Paris. I am so happy that the fist restaurant was closed because this was our last night in Meursault and in Bourgogne.

Went here on the recommendation of several knowing friends, at midday on a weekday in early…read moreSeptember. It was possibly the best meal of our lives; certainly in memory. The key is to go for lunch, since you're going to spend nearly four hours enjoying the very local wine and exquisite food. We made the choice to walk around the town and neighboring plots before the meal, so we recognized many of the houses on the wine list. The chef himself fortuitously welcomed us in the alley outside; his wife was our server, and another award-winning chef happened to be sitting at the next table. Wine-industry locals and a group of tourists occupied the remaining seats (the latter in a separate room.) The dining room is intimate, yet spacious and well-appointed. Overhearing others' conversations is not going to be an issue in the pleasant but quiet venue. A complete meal for two with a bottle of C-M and coffee came in at $200 (1 euro = $1.24) - about half of what we'd budgeted. There's talk of the ascendancy of another place in town. We didn't dine there, but peeked in, and had to doubt it would surpass Le Chassagne except as a place for a glass on the terrace. It's probably true that reservations are needed weeks in advance, and indeed the room filled up within ten minutes past noon, but it's certainly still worth trying. The food comes in lots of tiny courses; every bite is exquisite. One is never overly full, just pleasantly satiated. There's careful attention to the selection of wine, and then temperature and pouring. My spouse, a native of the country, did all the talking; I'm not sure a non-French speaker would enjoy the experience quite as much, since there was plenty of interaction about what we liked and how to enjoy the food. Altogether perfect.

The escargot with octopus is quite amazing, tender and the cream sauce is not too heavy. For main course I order the sea bass with uni cream sauce, it's perfectly cook and the uni sauce is not overpowering the fish. All of us really enjoy our dinner and I would recommend this place if anyone is looking to have a nice dinner at Beaune!

Maybe the larger dining room is reserved for French speakers, I don't know. Speak good French when you make your reservation and see what happens! The cuisine was wonderful. There were higher highs versus medium highs, but nothing failed. The fish was superb. The cheese course is excellent - do not miss it. The plates are sort of small, but our lunch was quite plentiful, especially with the amuse bouches, dessert, rolls, and so forth. We left perfectly full. It's all about taste here; it's a place to focus the senses on each bite, especially the first. This is masterwork cuisine. I'm giving it four stars because for the price...some of the dishes were not absolutely, totally awesome. But some definitely were. They were also a little quick with the wine selection process. I was handed the voluminous list and then verbally presented with by-the-glass options. Had to make a very quick decision. It might have been nice to have a moment to think about it, which I suppose I could have asked for. In any case, the by-the-glass wines we had were perfectly fine; the Loire white was average, but the red Burgundy was good. The staff treated us very well and we had a great time. If we can amass enough money, we will be back someday I hope. It's definitely in the 2-3 Michelin Star class, no question.
