So you can imagine the shock of walking into this place. The price online was different than what they told me. Twice as much. It was a very hot day and I asked, "do you have AC". They turned on a fan on and turned it toward me. They didn't have a big pedicure chair to sit in where you put your feet down into a bath of water. They had a movable thing that they sit on and then I put my feet on it. I also put my feet in a bucket of water below me. The first girl that worked on me couldn't even cut my toenails with the clippers. My nails are not difficult to cut. An older gentleman had to take over and he pinched me with the clippers. Luckily. no skin was broke. The instructor was standing there when I said, "Ouch" and she didn't even blink or even apologize.This gentleman didn't even know how to put the nail polish on so when I got home, I had to cover my nails with more polish. Not sure if it's worth going back to this place. I would pay double the price at my nail person and get better service and not have to drive so far. I was the only person getting my nails done and there was a gentleman getting a five dollar haircut. No other customers. That should've told me something. There were quite a few supervisors just sitting around and eating. One last thing, I don't know how this the school gets accredited. I think if the health department walked in, they would be closed.

But hey, my nails look bomb and the people were nice, which is more than I can say compared to a few higher-priced salons I've been to! My experience with Top Line Beauty College was extremely disappointing, largely because of one staff member, Kim. She often acts as though she runs the entire school and creates an uncomfortable environment for students. Over the years, I have heard similar concerns from numerous coworkers, classmates, and colleagues who felt they were treated unfairly or disrespectfully. Students come to beauty school to learn, grow, and build confidence in a supportive environment. Instead, many feel intimidated and afraid to speak up. A learning environment should encourage students, not make them feel fearful or anxious. Based on my experience and the experiences shared by others, I would not recommend this school. The negative atmosphere created by certain staff members overshadows what should be a positive educational experience.

When it comes to communication between teachers and students, it hasn't been very consistent. One instructor will say one thing, while another says something different, which makes it confusing. The grading is also inconsistent, as each instructor seems to grade differently. At the beginning of the semester, we weren't given a clear rubric for how we would be graded. Now that we are close to graduating, points are being taken off for very small details that were never emphasized before. For example, labeling the cups for the products we use--this is now required in abbreviation form, but we were never taught how to do that earlier in the program. Usually, the dispensary person would take care of that. I hope the program can become more organized, with clear expectations for both day and night classes. Right now, it feels like the night class does not receive as much attention or support. Overall, I hope things improve. However, if I had the chance to choose again, I would consider a different school because I don't feel like I learned everything I needed to know.

The person servicing my feet used the drill bit so long that she really thinned out my nails & caused injury & intolerable pain, I almost asked her to leave those toes blank. But I also didn't want to leave with an incomplete service or take away her learning opportunity. It was extremely hard to communicate with them because of the language barrier, it was helpful when the teachers would come over & guide & also be a translator when these issues arose. The vibe overall was fine, the seating where we were guided was pretty uncomfortable set up wise, I felt like I was bending like a pretzel and was very unstable. My manicure came with my gel stuck to my fingers and lots of cuts, bubbles in my nails, and even hair. The sanitization wasn't the best either, tools were continually dropped and continued to be used. I also noticed dirty gloves on clean surfaces. I'd come back to try other things but I'm a bit unsettled by my nails experience. I also came aware that I would be getting services by students, so I completely understand the learning curves. I think the teachers could've stepped in more and supported, guided, corrected, and maybe even shown or done the procedure partially to give more guidance.

There are cons to this business regarding payment and receipt: 1. The credit card processing fees are responsible to the business owners, not the customers. But this business is passing that fee to the customers. 2. Credit card processing fees average 1.5% - 3.5% per swipe. But this business is charging 30%. 3. Credit card processing fees apply, but the customer wasn't advised of such a charge. I didn't know until I checked the receipt. 4. The receipt wasn't clear how a regular manicure was added, but then a separate charge of gel polish was added on. Briefly looking at it, I thought I got charged with 2 manicures, one for a regular and the other was for gel. I paid for a gel manicure, but somehow forgot and asked for a regular polish for my mom. They gave a credit for the price of the gel polish on our next visit, which is fair. But, maybe keep it simple by labeling it as one service; gel manicure. Making it 2 services of regular manicure and gel polish is a little complicated. I would say they average out about a 4. But instructor Thao left me a very good impression. Let's raise it to a 5.

Although the classrooms looked cool, and I enjoyed the tour, there was this feeling like they were only after students' money and not their well-being. I guess I would have preferred speaking with one of the teachers, and not a counselor/advisor that doesn't quite have the expertise in the field. They have the limited X-ray license program for a year with morning/evening options. I forget the pricing, but I was told that many students choose this private schooling because of the community college waiting lists. Also, the presentation was extremely short and felt like it was cut short. Regardless, I would personally rather go through public education somewhere like Cypress, Mt. SAC, El Camino, LACC, etc.
