She walked me through the differences between different combinations and showed me examples for a better understanding. She even talked to me about the after care. It only took over a month and a half and a Yelp review to FINALLY get someone to contact me about a misunderstanding with an appointment. Here I thought this was over and done with, but I guess a business has to save face somehow right? If the response to my review was what they consider an apology, they can shove it. There isn't anything they can offer that can erase the stress caused by the drama that I had to go through with them. I'd rather wait for these already faded brows to fade some more and go get them re-done by someone who actually cares about their clients. Why do I have to shade in my brows still??? Not with any help from this place though, I had to Google for myself detailed info on how to adequately take care of these expensive ass almost already faded brows . What I DO KNOW, is that I left this business feeling shafted about paying $700+ for ok brows. They're not ugly, but they aren't what I saw advertised on social media. I've been wanting to get my eyebrows done for such a long time now, I followed so many different Instagram accounts to try and find the best fit for what I was looking for since I consider myself to be very picky when it comes to my skin care and something that would be permanently put onto my face. I came across the brows academy and followed Vicki. Her work along with some of her former students work just looked amazing! What caught my eye was the natural hair strokes and how perfect the eyebrow shapes were on each person! I examined the before and after pictures since I'm a protectionist LOL! I usually don't write reviews, but knowing that this business is out there operating with such a bad business model that give ZERO f*cks about their customers, I know I had to say something. Had my brows done by Vicki 4 months ago (March 2022) and I had to say that for all the social media hype, I was fairly disappointed. For a business that's so well promoted on Instagram, I wish I read the Yelp reviews first. My brows came back OK; nothing spectacular or impressive; just OK. I needed something done for my almost nonexistent eyebrows, so having something done was better than none. Mind you, I'm pretty easygoing. I'm happy to have something added to my brows, even if I felt like it was overpriced, or even if I drove 60+ miles each way on LA traffic. I didn't mind that I wasn't happy with their customer service skills at first (I wasn't there to chitchat, and maybe they just don't like to talk while working -- who knows). Overall, first impression was not really friendly, and not punctual either. My appointment started way past my "appointment time". Vicki was still working on one client when I came in, and the assistant applied some numbing cream while I waited. After Vicki finished with her customer, I watched her sit on the dining table inside the salon and eat. And again, I thought, why not? She's hungry, let her eat in between customers. Finally it was my turn to get my brows done. I felt her impatience when I was deciding what "combo" to get. Did I mention it was my first time? I thought, it was after 2 or 3pm at that time, it's the end of the day, maybe she's tired? Sure, I can overlook that. So after deciding on a combo, I just kept reminding myself that she's a pro and she knows what she's doing. The result? Maybe a little bit above average, but I wasn't super happy. I paid the hefty $700+ price tag and went home, thinking my brows will look better in a few weeks like what their IG said, "trust the process". So fast forward to FOUR MONTHS later. I was happy that I went and got my brows done, but felt like it was not worth the long drive and the price. And again, I decided not to write a any review about my subpar experience then. I'm the type that just wouldn't say anything if there isn't anything good to say. HOWEVER. Four months later (July 2022) I got a text from The Brows Academy reminding me of my "re-touch" appointment tomorrow. I don't even remember having confirmed an appointment for a re-touch. Turns out that I did...four months ago. And what's more, if I cancel or reschedule now, I'll get charged a $50 fee because, according to The Brows Academy, they need at least a 72hours notification time to avoid the $50 penalty. OK. So here's where I felt myself snap. After a long back and forth text debate with them claiming that "All customers mark their calendar" and the comment of "it's not our job to notify our customers months in advance" While I fully understand the reason for the $50 fee for cancelling an appointment within 24 hours, it might have been nice to get notified about this "re-touch" appointment that was scheduled FOUR MONTHS AGO. Why text me THE DAY BEFORE the appointment? What good is a 24hour text notification if I was going to get charged the $50 fee anyway? This place was pretty good at telling me that all of their customers are on top of keeping their appointments, because they "mark their calendars". Well, I'd hate to burst your bubble, but not all customers are the same. Things happen, appointments get moved around People tend to forget their "re-touch" (especially one that was made 4months ago) that's why we call it a "Courtesy Reminder". It's to "Remind" people in case they forgot, get it? A text the day before the appointment when it's too late to cancel or reschedule is NOT a courtesy reminder...It's highway robbery. The bottom line is... I learned that this place likes to ARGUE with their customers, instead of having their best interests at heart. You'll see it on their Yelp reviews, and the way they respond to those who did not give them a 5-star review. There is no such thing as customer service skills, so don't bother expecting any kind of COURTESY at all. I received multiple, long, back and forth texts from the assistant about how the policy is on their website and that I have to get charged the $50 fee for an appointment that was made 4 months ago. Well guess what? I don't think I'm the only customer who thinks that you need to evaluate your customer service skills. This review wouldn't have been written if not for this incident today. It's fair to say that I've given this place enough of my patience. Definitely NOT coming back, nor recommending this place to anyone. In my opinion, THE BEST place to get your brows done by Vicki!! The hair strokes look real and she is so experienced that it does not take long either. She also does not have a heavy hand for your session so you won't be dreading with every stroke. She also has an active class here if you want to get certified to do brows as well. Initially Vicki told me she will charge me $200 for Eyebrow tattoo removal with two passes, when I went there she said that she doesn't need to go over all my eyebrows and only one pass as she doesn't want to damage my eyebrow. Then I requested to refund some money and she offered me $50 off for future service. This is my text to her: "Well, I was planning to But I just don't appreciate the way you handled this issue. You charged me $200 for only 2 spot that you went over once and then instead of refund at least $100, you are offering a $50 off when I dont even know how much you'll be charging me. Frankly, I dont trust you anymore to have any future service with you. You can keep the money as it seems you need it more." And this was her professional response: "1st off, I don't appreciate you telling me I'm money hungry. You don't know me and u obviously dont have any ideas on what it takes running a business. it costs a lot with rent, utilities, products all the craps you don't know. It's not about 1 passes or 2 passes. It's my time and expertise that's booking the appointment for you. I can make way more booking regular brows appointment. U have no idea how much the materials like that solution costs. I can do more passes to ruin ur skin if that makes u happier. It took me two years to finally make the decision to do microblading. I searched long and hard for a reputable high level technician. An old colleague recommended Vicki's salon and informed me of the promo going on for models. When you agree to be a model, you agree to have a student perform some of the work. My brows were done by Lykeav and they are perfect. Vicki still does most of the strokes and shaping while the students fill in or go over Vicki's strokes. My appointment was at 9:30am and the work began promptly at 9:35. I was numbed and given consent forms while the numbing cream started setting in (about 40 minutes). I was so nervous, i questioned the color, size, technique, duration etc.. I wasn't even sure what service to choose. lol. I ended up going with combo (microblading and shading). The process was pretty painless and took about 2 hours. Looking past the darkness; the shape is AMAZING. I am day two today and the color is a lil scary and too bold but i'm excited to see them in a couple days. By the end of day 1; my brows were itchy and still a little sore, i applied the grapeseed oil and they already feel better this morning. I will be scheduling my touch up appt at 5 weeks. read more

Customer service with Tia was confusing and unprofessional to say the least. After reaching out to Bri from the studio for mediator and more assistance I'm finally resorting to a review. I expected to be much better cared for by a team considering themselves a high caliber permanent make up team :/ very disappointed in them. But I knew you would spin this story and make it seem like your professional and your classes are top-tier for the viewers. I had my brows done with Vicki. It was a very expensive procedure, and she wasn't great with communication or even asking me questions about what kind of look I wanted. My brows only lasted about 6-7 months before turning orange. It's now been well over 2 1/2 years and I still have horrible orange brows. If you keep Getting your brows "touched up", you will end up with bumpy scar tissue over your brows along with the orange or green color. As a mom of 2 little toddlers, it's hard enough to get them ready for the day in the mornings, let alone get my own face washed to look somewhat decent. SO GLAD I listened to her and let her take the reigns, because it came out perfectly. I was following Vicki on social media, her work looked amazing. She raved about how much her students worked under her care and how they only traced on the models. When you are a model you pay a deposit of $100, then you pay the balance $150 the day of your service. 3/25/19 - When I arrived at the brow academy , which took me 2 hours to get there. It wasn't at all what I imagined, the students are not as professional as you would think. Their course is 3 / 4 days, I don't think it's fair to give everyone a "Certificate" of completion if they don't deserve it. She gives certificates to her students that haven't even practiced on a live model. There were only TWO students that I saw (I was there from 12-6) that were actually into what they were doing, models were happy and student was actually asking and understanding what was going on. The rest were eating Popeyes chicken and talking about their weekend plans. I got stuck with a student that didn't even want to do my eyebrows. She kept complaining that I wanted microblading and shading and it would be long. I felt uncomfortable, but I gave a deposit, I drove two hours and I sat there waiting for four hours for my "appointment" I was hoping I would get one of the more skilled students but I got somebody that didn't even want to do it. * She applied numbing cream on top of my face, which had makeup - Vicki asked her "did you remove makeup?" she said "no" but nobody seem to care... they didn't remove my makeup and re apply. Nope. Nothing. * She drew and erased her outline THREE times. Each time she drew, Vicki came over and told her "take this off, do this" **** Vicki started at least 40 mins after numbing cream was applied I didn't know how long numbing cream would last or how any of this worked, I trusted Vicki, she calls her self the "Master" at microblading. I jumped the second the blade touched me and she told me "oh don't do that, I can hurt you" not once did she apply more, I just laid as still as possible and cringed with every stroke. Finally it was time to apply more numbing cream, at that point I didn't feel the blade. Now it came to shading. The student had no idea how to shade. As I right this, I can't believe I just laid there. Vicki stayed at her desk eating her salad as she coached from a far..... I heard one of the other students giving after care instructions and I heard her say "see you in 6/8 weeks for a touch up" while I'm still lying there waiting for Vicki to come back by and give the Ok to remove the color. The student opens up a folded piece paper and briefly reads through the after care instructions . She wasn't even aware of the instructions, it's like she was reading them for the second time. She did tell me it will scab, but don't peel it. I said ok. She gave me a small container of oil and said apply daily. I followed all instructions. 5/27/19 -At 9 weeks (memorial week) I needed a touch up, badly! I was still applying makeup on my eyebrows because it look like I had none in allllll pictures. I reached out to Vicki just like I did when I first booked and her response and demeanor changed. She told me a touchup isn't free and she had nothing until end of June. Well end of June is after the 8/10 week period which she says if you come after that you "may" have to pay. I was coming at 9 weeks and she still wanted to charge me $150, when I asked why am I paying it says touchup is included . She said "oh that's for my clients, you aren't a client you a model, you pay!" Wow, that's nice. So I payed $250, now 9 weeks later another $150 total $400 and I will have another student do my touchup. Nope, No thanks! She collects money from these "models" and gives you an inexperienced student to practice on you. Then when you need a fill you don't even get the same student, that is now a "professional microblading tech" no, you get another student that gets to practice on you.... not cool. She may do good work on her clients, that pay $700 to see her. But, her students are a hit or miss. I have been following one of her students and her work looks great, the student I got clearly needs more practice and shouldn't have received a certificate of completion. I then went to a professional that doesn't charge $700 and is only 10 miles away. When she saw my eyebrows she thought I got them done a year ago! When I told her no, it's been 9 weeks she didn't believe me, she had another client there and this client did her brows in November 2018, and her brows look great! That's 6 months. My brows look faded and I did them 9 weeks ago..... anyways, so glad I found someone that new what they were doing. I'll attach photos and you can see for yourself the difference. The Brows Academy is an amazing business. Vicky, the owner is extremely professional, welcoming and AN INCREDIBLE ARTIST! I have had microblading with shading done by her. My eyebrows look incredible! One of a kind! I haven't stopped getting compliments. I must disclose, it is a process that takes healing from beginning to end. As expected, theres many more reviews talking about Vickis character and how she handles her customers. I was told I would get a touch up. I paid $750 for brows that faded in less than ab month. I posted for a touch up on Instagram and for a free touch up, but because I didn't have enough followers. I even provided proof I posted it in December of last year. She still denies it's true. Definitely not a good human being. she booked me for 4 months after. I posted within a few weeks so I could redeem it. She booked me for 4 months later than rescheduled because it was her birthday. I accommodated. I decided to add fat to my lips and get a lip tattoo as well. I was going to add services. She then proceeded to tell me she'd no longer honor the touch up (her scheduling is always months and months after) and claimed it was far too long. That's not my fault. She changed the original plans. I filed a complaint on many platforms and will continue to do so. The job was not quality. Based on these reviews, she doesn't care about her models OR paying customers. I'd rather go to someone better with more experience and manners. PS, multiple complaints regarding her attitude. Brows can be such a sensitive subject to be worked on because it frames your face and so the communication and skills needed to get the work done is the most utmost importance for satisfactory brows. Vicki not only communicated well with me with what I wanted such as shape, style etc but her skills made my brows beautiful! I had sparce brows but she made them full looking with hair strokes by microblading in the front and gradually used ombre shading for gradiant Fuller looking! I was told this is triple the numbing cream and it cost $40! It was so diluted and watery that it was running all over my face when I tried to do my facial needling! Left it on for 30-45 min as told and my face never once felt numb and it has a fishy smell! This bottle doesn't even have a name brand or type of ingredients. So this was my first procedure and I got the combo. I absolutely love my eyebrows! I'm supposed to go in for a touch up but Im pretty happy with how they look so I'm not sure if I will take her up on the touch up. When I went in she put the numbing cream on my brows. I have a huge tattoo on my back so I was wondering if the procedure would hurt more than that... good news, it didn't at all. I almost fell asleep while Vickie was working. The process took less than two hours and she definitely warned me about how bold and dark my eyebrows would look for the next few days. Let me tell you they definitely looked scary and I thought I had ruined my face. Fast forward one week and they're like the best addition to my face. You pay for what you get and I don't miss the applying makeup to my eyebrows in my mornings at all!! I am always getting comments on my eyebrows and it was a great decision. I was a model for one of Vicki's student with Vicki completing the work and I could not have been more than happy with the results. I had thin, light, uneven eyebrows and now I feel like I have an actual frame to my face. Just got a natural fuller look. Vicki was even nice enough to take me even when I was late which meant pushing back other appts. I drove all the way from Hemet and felt it was worth it. I got complimented so much, my 4 other sisters decided to use her services as well. 10/10 recommend. PS the healing process does happen and causes your eyebrows to look weird for a bit, as long as you follow the care instructions-you'll be fine. Peeling is normal, just don't mess with it.
