The buzz is as important as the cuisine at Stureplansgruppen's latest opening in Vasastan. Behind the kitchen at L'Avventura are Laura Marino, Jens Bergstrand and Karl Ljung, where they send their classic Italian fare to patrons in a magnificent dining room. The tables are set in a former 1927 cinema surrounded by beautiful Roman paintings, with indoor trees where the shadows are shown on the high ceilings.
If the tables are fully booked, dine at the bar for a fun night with big portions to share among friends and family. First, a rolling cart came by and cut off generous free portions from a chunk of Reggiano cheese to enjoy with the basket of breads. We ordered a plate of Carpaccio as the meat is nicely sliced giving it good bite, while little blobs of truffle mayonnaise and freshly grated parmigiano reggiano lift the dish.
The 2 mains we ordered, Polpo grilled squid and Truffle Pappardelle pasta to share among the two of us. The Polpo squid is beautifully charred, served on a bed of grated tomatoes and a tasty black aioli sauce. There's only one word to describe the Truffle Pappardelle pasta with cep porcini mushroom and parmigiano reggiano.... "Divine."
While leaving after our wonderful dinner, there seemed to be a company Christmas dinner party descending the stairs from the old cinema balcony above the dining room. The tables were set with poker cards, and as explained each guest was given a small poker card as their seat assignment upon entering by the host. Egalitarian seating logistics!
Lastly, the place has an extensive wine list by the bottle and glass, with a nice selection of Italian vino. Grazie to L'Avventura for a wonderful evening! read more
