This place was so good! We spent 2 nights in Milan and went both nights for dinner. Our server was…read moreso kind and accommodating to us English-speakers. The pasta was amazing and the tuna with salad dish was one of my favorite meals on my Europe trip so far. I wish we tried the pizza because it looked amazing too. The outside is unassuming for how nice it is on the inside. Great traditional Italian food and very nice service. The only thing that I would be aware of is that there are no descriptions of the menu items, my boyfriend is allergic to shellfish and we accidentally ordered a dish with shrimp in it which was a bit scary. Besides that I totally recommend this restaurant!

We decided to get a full course meal with appetizer, first plate, and second plate. Our appetizer, fried squash blossoms, were absolutely mindblowing; I wonder if they were influenced by Portuguese peixinhos da horta, the OG tempura. The first course, a Milanese risotto, was absolutely bursting with rich saffron deliciousness. For our second course, we ended up getting a whole sea bash, cooked with just a little bit of olive oil and salt for flavor; the fish was tender and juicy, cooked just right. We also had a carafe of the house red wine, lightly sparkling which made it really nice. If I come back to Milan, I'll definitely head back to Calabrone 2 for dinner!

I came on a recommendation from a dear friend...and Italian and a restaurant owner. This is my last…read moremeal in Milan before going back to Los Angeles. I could not have asked for a better meal. I went with the tasting menu...the assorted cold cuts, Rissoto Isola Della Scala (Veal & Pork with cinnamon), the stuffed rabbit, and a fig and chocolate mousse with a 12yr Demerara Rum for desert. Oh My God!! The flavors!! Totally unexpected and nothing short of amazing!! If you've somehow found this review, it means you've gone off the beaten track...Trattoria della Abele is not easy to find. Do yourself the favor and go the rest of way...make the leap of faith...and get in here for one of the best Italian meals you'll get in Milan!!!

I got to Milan starving and I wanted to eat somewhere close and local since I was staying at one of…read morethe neighbourhood slightly outside of city centre and I found this one. The place is small... No frills but just outside the restaurant there were tons of stickers showing their accolades for the food they serve so that was a good sign. Another good sign is the long waiting list of folks trying get a table for dinner after 9.45 pm on a Sunday night. The menu isn't long and they had a tasting menu so I opted for that. You can choose either meat or seafood with the tasting menu and you get three courses plus dessert for just €28! The first course I chose was this hake dish marinated in vinegar with carrots and onions. It was ok not amazing... If you're squirmish and don't want to eat small fish with their head on this is not the dish for you lol. The next dish is a cuttlefish and artichoke risotto. This place is known for its risotto and boy it was amazing. Never knew risotto was suppose to be cooked where each grain has a bite and not mushy.the delicate flavour of the cuttlefish and artichoke worked so well and the dish was perfectly seasoned. The dish was creamy and I found myself scraping for the last pieces of risotto on the dish! I want more! Lol. The third dish I got was grilled octopus. The dish seemed like it straight up came from the sea with the long tentacle of the octopus. The octopus was tender and have the taste of the sea... Went really well with the sun dried tomatoes. I was amazed of the beautiful colour and the texture... So tender. If you like seafood this will quench your thirst for it. It also went well with the prosecco I ordered. If you're not into seafood, stir clear from this because it is straight up a seafood type of dish... and it'll taste like meat marinated in sea water. For dessert since it was my first night back in Italy I hard to give homage to the tiramisu. The tiramisu was light and fluffy... Not too sweet... Not too much coffee flavour, perfectly balanced. As much as I enjoyed it, being the fourth dish ... I was stuffed! It's a good reminder for me when I make tiramisu that it shouldn't be too sweet and delicate and flavoured lightly by coffee. The staff were really nice and attended me well, they are pretty on point and have a great system working. I'd recommend making reservations if you can cause this place get busy! Overall the experience was good and the wait was worth it for this restaurant. Good value for the money and gave me a good experience on how it is like eating like a local in Milan.
