not really a part of town that you will go out of your way to in pretty paris!
but it's definitely a gem of a place pretty near to where i do stay, on the occasions i find myself back here in the city of light!
pretty laid back setup on a nondescript street corner.
it was pretty much close to closing time for their lunch service but they had absolutely no issues sitting me promptly.
pretty friendly service with a good enough level of conversational english spoken and understood.
i chose indoor seating unlike many other locals who seemed happy to bask in an otherwise hot day for this time of the year!
le menu in the form of a portable chalkboard was presented not too long after.
a brief explanation of what was on offer plus how it works and a daily lunch menu that resonated with me, immediately.
free wifi is available for an in-depth google translation if you are not pretty fluent with any french culinary lingo.
i went with the daily lunch specials and a glass of white to cool off.
soon enough, a plate of pretty tiny snails popped up to whet my appetite!
you definitely need to dig in to free these tasty slugs from their cumbersome protective shells.
then came the fish soup.
as hearty as can be and generously so.
you can taste the made from scratch, today only goodness, with pretty fresh produce to complement.
an extra generous pour of refill soup was also perfect for the rustic table bread that so awaited an umami bath.
the fillet of red mullet with chard for mains immediately made me feel pretty healthy!
simple fare made well.
both ingredients not quite commonly found back home!
and to end off, a pear crumble that your granny will make?
pretty well poached, texturised and balanced off with fresh cream.
all these for just €28?
i do think this is a pretty good lunch deal! no?
only the price of the glass of wine felt like poor value, to be honest.
i do foresee myself coming back here again pretty soon, pretty please! read more
