I hired L&J Pools to build my pool in 2019. In 2022, just under 3 years, the concrete deck started crumbling. I sent L&J an email with pictures and the owner's response was that it's environmental. I spoke to several pool, stone and concrete contractors. Their professional opinion is that it's the result of poor workmanship, that the job was not done properly due to poor concrete mix and that's why it's crumbling. That the patio should last at least 15-20 years or more. A deck like this should have been built to withstand any environmental issues. They also stated that if they had done the job themselves, in good faith, they would have done the right thing and rectified it. I also know many people with concrete decks they have had for years and never had this problem. The owner at L&J said he would repair it, but it would cost me. I already paid for the deck so why should I have to pay for it again! Now under 5 years and it's all torn up and looks terrible and is causing me major stress and will have to pay someone else to repair/replace it. This picture shows what happened after we closed the pool last summer. Just under 4 years old and we didn't even have bad winters (environmental) the last 2 years. All the while during the summer you could feel the deck crumbling under your feet. I just wonder how he would feel and what he would do if he was left with something like this. read more

I hired them to replace the liner in my pool, which is a large, time consuming job. They did work quickly to get my pool ready for the 4th of July weekend. After they filled it back with water, the shallow end was not prepared correctly and I can feel tons of tiny bumps and rock particulate under the liner. It hurts your feet when standing in the shallow end, and I'm concerned that it will degrade the liner quicker. Also, the bead that holds the liner in started to come out a few months after the install and when I called to have them address that, they told me that they would have to charge me to fix it, and that it was not covered in the install warranty. They told me that I could fix it myself or I would have to pay to have them come out and repair it. I feel like they don't stand by their work and I am extremely frustrated by their dismissive behavior on the phone. I also tipped the workers and the business owner Jim sr. to show gratuity for quick work, but it seems the unfortunate truth is you cannot rush quality. I would not recommend L&J Pools to anyone read more

Our family is very grateful to have hired L&J Pools to put in a brand new inground pool and patio for us this year. L&J's job performance was superb on all accounts. We had a very small space to squeeze in a pool, but they got the job done! The L&J team were very hard workers, spent days in the high heat, rain and storms working on our pool and patio. They were committed from the start and worked with us every step of the way, even the last minute changes we wanted to make. They were very good at explaining the why's, how's and what's next as well as educated us on how to make better decisions on things. Needless to say, they were very patient with us. They gave us a timeline that was met and always were there to answer our questions. After the ground settled around the pool, they came back to complete the patio and they both look gorgeous. Their Management team were also very hands on and made us feel comfortable knowing they were overseeing and working the pool/patio together with their great team. Don't not use this company unless you want low quality work. I hired L&J in 2015 for pool resurfacing work. I basically got a bad paint job which costed thousand of dollars. I am now left with a stained pool because of the incompetence of L&J pools. Jim the owner does not stand by his work. Stay far away from this company. read more

I would NOT recommend this pool company to anyone. I scheduled them to come out and open up my Pool it cost me $345 and they couldn't even finish what they came for. There was 1 piece missing and they told me that they would have to come back and charge me another $130 for every HALF HOUR that they are here. I called to talk to the owner while they were still here to explain to him that being a new customer as a courtesy would they come and finish the job? He told me no because they had to come back to work. I thought that was Insane. SO not only did I have to pay them but they didn't even finish getting my pool ready for the summer. I'm so disappointed and would never use this company EVER. Don't waste your time and money like I did for nothing. This company is not people friendly and they don't care about their customers. read more

TERRIBLE! RUN BEFORE THEY TAKE ALL YOUR MONEY!!!!This company is inexperienced and overpriced. It's almost like they purposely make mistakes (hoping you won't find out of course), so that you need to pay them to come back again. The owner is rude and was yelling at me (a female over the phone). Clearly he has no customer service skills and doesn't take any responsibility for his crew and company! Basically this company told me they can't service any new customers because they don't know enough about the pool. Ummm ok? Take this as a blessing in disguise. They are INCREDIBLY overpriced! No wonder they could fit me in the schedule so quickly. Basically they came to my house to open my pool and spa and left. An hour later the spa had completely drained. They send their "head plumber" over and pretty much concludes that we must have a leak in our line underground and we will need to pay them to rent sonar equipment so they can figure out where the leak is. Long story short- we call another company to come take a look and it takes them 30 seconds to realize that they never plug up the drain in the spa and that's why it kept losing water! My husband and I even figured it out when we saw two pipes had water in it and one did not, and we never owned a pool before!! Save your money, and call another company. These guys created more stress than necessary, all while ringing up the bill when it was a simple solution. I've never been so disrespected by a company in my life. Clearly they take advantage of people who don't have a lot of knowledge on pools. read more

I was using L&J pools for two seasons to open and close. I had a problem with weeds constantly growing around the pool area, so I asked them to give me some suggestions, my thought was to extend the cement patio, however when Jim the owners son came over he said they could put 3 inches of river rock 5 tons over plastic and it would solve my problem, he charged me $3,800.00 which I knew was a little high priced but I knew this company so I thought, three layouts down the rock and 3 weeks later I had just as many weeds as I always had. I called them and they kept not returning my calls, I spoke to their manager who told me the owners Jim and Jim Jr. Said I should spray it with Roundup. My reasons for doing this in the first phase as they knew was because my 2 dogs kept eating the weeds and getting sick, they also knew that I will not use Roundup because of the dogs. So my advise is don't let these guys fool you with their lovely personality to get the sale. read more

We used L&J to rebuild our old built in pool and replace the concrete. They were great throughout the entire project. Our pool is now a few years old and has held up great. We have recommended them to several of our friends and have received many compliments on their work. read more

I am disappointed with the customer service and the attitude of the owner Jim. Jim's company installed our gunite pool, jacuzzi, and stamped concrete four years ago. We were aiming to get our stamped concrete fixed as it is cracking (Jim failed to advise it needs to be sealed annually). We began calling in early March and each week his team was supposed to show up, Jim had reason after reason as to why appointments were missed. By the time June rolled around, the key reason we were told was that it was too hot and it cannot rain for 24 hours, which I agreed was an issue as I did my own research on the best time to seal stamped concrete. My husband receives a call one morning that the trucks would be showing up within the hour on one of the hottest days with rain in the forecast. My husband cancelled the job and Jim decided to show up at our home anyway with the aim of guilting me into doing the job. I said no as 1) my family was in town, 2) I had children coming over that day for a planned party, and 3) I did not want to proceed with doing the job during weather Jim himself advised was inappropriate to fix & seal stamped concrete. Jim said he could not get to it until the end of the week or the end of the pool season. The end of the pool season was fine as this is when the weather would be cooler. My husband called back end of summer and now we were told it was too cold which made no sense as the best time to seal is in the spring or fall above 55F and below 90F. My husband left messages for Jim to discuss this. When Jim finally called him back he left an unprofessional voice message whining that I had turned him away earlier in the year. L&J Pools does not live up to what their website professes about customer service. Pool installation vs. maintenance seems to be their priority. read more
