You have to apply for an abundance of studies to get selected. In the past year, I completed one and 2 of my children completed one. Once given the opportunity, the tasks are fair and not overwhelming. I don't love the payment via gift cards, but worth the time and effort. Staff are nice and respecting. Used to pay you with money. Now they pay you with a "pre paid gift card" thats difficult to use and its a scam to try to get you to not use it even though you earned it. L&E used to be a great way to make a little side money, but now its a scam. read more

I've participated in two research studies at this facility and have had a pleasant time at each. I follow them on Facebook to see their latest research participant needs and apply for the surveys through the link. These typically take 5 minutes to fill out. If they consider you, they will call and basically ask the same questions again, I'm guessing to see if you're consistent with your answers. If you fit the demographics and types of answers they are looking for, they will invite to to participate in a research study. Sometimes it doesn't work out and you try for another study. Usually the studies are between 1 - 3 hours and you are compensated accordingly. They will let you know what the compensation is before participating. When you leave the study they will hand you a check with the previously agreed amount. The facility itself has limited parking outside, so make sure you arrive early. They have complimentary refreshments and snacks when you arrive. One study I did was on drinks and we sampled different flavors and answered questions on a tablet about them. It was very simple, independent, and quick. The second I participated in was a six person focus group on berries. We gave feedback on a particular brand of berries and some of their new branding logo ideas. If you like sharing your opinion and participating in a unique experience, I'd recommend Q & A. read more

Do not do business with these guys. I was recruited based off my legal address on my drivers license and current mailing address. Went to the survey, after about 30 minutes I found out that their survey is merely regional based, I lived in the area but they only recruited people who live in the extremely wealthy parts of the Bay Area. After disclosing where I lived which is about 20 miles from my mailing address I was abruptly asked to leave. I reached out to Alisa R and informed her that recruiting based off a persons wealth and ability to live somewhere is discrimination and I never heard back. Steer clear of this company. They're recruitment tactics are extremely biased. read more

Scam. Applied to dozens of surveys and never qualify. They just want all the data and info on you. Very predatory.

If you are expecting to get compensated in a easy and decent way then you are in for a rude awakening. After my boyfriend and I did the same survey, we were sent an email that asks us to choose either an online Visa gift card, or a tangible card by mail in 10 days. I choose the online gift card and after registering it I tried to use it and was unsuccessful. 4 different businesses declined my transaction! After going online to look at the activity, I could see each transaction that was declined. I called customer service and asked if I could add a pin number and the operator said there are restrictions and not having a pin number is one of them. Just a word of advice. Discuss the details about your payment ahead of time with these guys. My boyfriend had the same problem with his card. read more

Andrea was very rude when she accused me of not being available to be contacted. Andrea lied and said she had been trying to contact me. Andrea only called me once. I was contacted by email and responded very quickly. I responded to the email which instructed me to show up at my scheduled time, not to call Andrea. If Andrea is the example of personnel at this company, I recommend staying far away. If Andrea gets mad when clients successfully read emails and don't return a single phone call when there was no reason to after a successful appointment was scheduled, maybe Andrea needs to find social interaction outside of her work for the company. If a second phone call is necessary, Andrea shouldn't call clients at 8pm on a Wednesday night knowing very well people usually have jobs and don't take calls from strangers when they're in bed. Andrea should be trained on how to talk to people or be put in a position outside of interacting with other people. If Andrea needs more than a scheduled appointment, Andrea should avoid making accusations about clients she hasn't met yet. read more

Was involved in research for 3 months and was promised initial payment (never received) and monthly payments as long as research was conducted. After several calls finally received payment. Staff was pleasant, but their interdepartmental communications are sadly lacking. I don't recommend nor will I use again. read more

I love sharing my opinion and I'm comfortable speaking in groups or in one-on-one settings, so focus groups are really fun and enjoyable for me. I've done a few with different companies over the last 10 years. Q and A has a Walnut Creek location and it's literally three blocks from my office. That might make them my favorite of all the companies. I was really excited to schedule a 4:30 meeting here last week, since I knew it wouldn't really cut into my work day. I still had to leave at 4 to make it on time. The two girls working the front desk were super nice. I told them so, and we talked a lot while I waited. I tried to use the single-serve coffee maker to make some hot water for tea, but I couldn't figure it out and had to ask them to help. They happily obliged and I had hot lemon tea shortly after. Cookies and fruit are also available while you wait. The one-on-one scheduled before me was running behind and soon I was told that they'd be cancelling my session. I was paid and sent home. Doesn't get much better than that. Hopefully I can come back soon and get to stay (though, I won't complain about getting to leave either!) read more

Pros: Nice people. Nice large area to sit & relax in the lobby. They have magazines to read while waiting too. The Q&A Focus Groups are worth your time, especially when I came from Alameda. They make you feel comfortable during the focus groups. When I went there the first time, they were really nice to give me a bottle of water, because I got lost & walked all over the place trying to find the building. (It was my fault, actually the BART directions) LOL Cons: While waiting in the lobby, I can hear the workers gossiping behind the desk. That's not professional, especially while there are people in the lobby. In the lobby, I only saw one outlet to charge my phone. Luckily, no one was sitting there, so I was able to charge it. Its just that, its a really nice size lobby, but only one outlet. This place is still worth going to though. read more

I hate to do this because I will continue to participate in L&E's surveys. But the location is not satisfactory. L&E is located in an old cramped up office building. The building is located on an extremely busy and fast paced street. Pay very close attention when approaching because due to the traffic pace, you can blaze right past the hard-to-notice signage and single entrance driveway. Exiting can also be challenging as either everyone is doing 100mph or the traffic is stopped and a solid line all the way back to Berkeley. Parking - sigh. There just isn't much. Simple as that. Going for a survey? Get there early to find a parking spot and make your way into the building. Elevator is slow enough that it's six one way and half dozen the other taking the elevator vs the stairs. The personnel are OK. No one seems particularly thrilled to be there. And maybe no person is thrilled when they have to go to work unless they make $1,000/hour, but at least put on a smile for your clients that come in. Upside - you are there to make some money for not a ton of effort. And snacks and drinks are provided in the lobby while you wait your turn. read more

The people who work here are very nice. Maybe too nice. OK, in general, employees in servicey jobs can't be too nice, but the women who work here--and all of them were women the three days of my taste test--might be too nice. The gender division was very clear, and that's not surprising; we all fulfilled a particular demographic (I assume men in their mid-thirties to mid-forties). And yet. And yet. So I got paid $150 to--well, I can't really tell you what I got paid $150 for. I signed an NDA, and while I've signed many of these over my lifetime and generally don't take them very seriously, I hope to continue to participate in Q & A Research's projects, so I'm not shooting myself in the foot. No, definitely not. Oh, oh, and it's in one of those really sad but hopeful but just sad office buildings built in the early '80s! It's awesome. It would get five stars except that its sign on Ygnacio Valley Road is way too easy to miss. That might not seem like a big deal, but it's huge. See, when you're participating in a thing like this, you need to be on time. And Walnut Creek has some of the absolute worst rush-hour traffic I've ever seen, and I'm from Southern California. So if you miss the entrance to the parking lot, you're screwed. It will take you at least--at least!--fifteen minutes to get around the block. Don't try to make a U-turn. Just make a right at the next street and then keep making rights. Better yet, don't schedule your appointment for six p.m. like I did. Thanks, Q & A Research, for the $150. This place is a scam! I was asked to participate in a study about Amazon. Q&A asked me to try certain features of the site from my account. It was supposed to be a multiple day study in which I would be compemsated at the end. Not only did they never contact me after my first day (which I spent over an hour helping them), they never paid me. To make matters worse, I just got hit with a $315 charge from Amazon because of some of the features Q&A asked me to test. I have tried to contact them multiple times and have received no response. Needless to say, I am incredibly frustrated and highly recommend staying clear of this research organization. read more

I've conducted research here and the staff was awesome. They were helpful and really went out of their way to make sure that our study went smoothly. I participated in a focus group here a few weeks ago. I've participated in similar groups by other companies over the years. I don't participate often. The pre selection staff was friendly and cordial on the phone. Staff at the office were pleasant and accommodating. The moderator was friendly, engaging and kept our diverse group focused on the task at hand. I'd return here for another group with no hesitation. read more

Will call you asking you to participate but will not tell you who is running the focus group or what it is about. They will then have you go through a series of questions over the phone for about 10 minutes. After the questions are over with, they will tell you you are not eligible. Don't waste your time. Very frustrating and made me feel that they are trying to get specific people to participate rather than being non-biased with their research. read more

I have had two great experiences with Q&A as a member of their focus groups. The staff was extremely organized- they called three times to make sure I remembered to be there. Everyone was friendly, professional and accommodating. The pay is great- I got $100 once and $75 once! I highly recommend it for anyone who has extra time and an opinion!
