I thought customer service at a large corporate businesses was dead until I went in here and met the manager Sarah. There are closer locations to my house. I've had decent experiences at those locations. Sarah is why I drive further to go to this location. She is extremely knowledgeable at what she does. You know when people care about what they do because of how well they do it. It's rare to see nowadays but you know it when you see it. The very few times that the corporate-run system has been wonky and caused me even 1/16 of a shadow of an inconvenience... Sarah went far above and beyond to "make up for it." and "it" was seriously no big deal at all. I'm talking like 1900's level customer appreciation, service and accommodation. She makes the experience better while others just go thru the motion. Go to this one and see what I'm talking about. It's like having a personal tanner like a personal trainer, she knows her stuff that well. You won't regret it. A pro at anything is worth witnessing. The level 6 tanner in the front of store with Bluetooth is awesome too. And the new ThermaSauna thing I do every time now after Sarah's recommendation. I bought a package last year. They let me know it was extended past January. 3 plus months. I went in in February no problem. I went in again and was denied any of my pre paid sessions. Front desk and manager did nothing to explain or help me out in anyway. Sad company. I was able to visit another La Tan they were able to help me and extended my package. I am never going to LA Tan again. I went with my friends to get a tan and had a dreadful experience. I did not get a tan that particular day because I got a tan from that exact LA Tan location a few days prior. Not only did the spray tan machine break, the customer service was horrendous. I was at LA Tan for close to two hours due to the break down of the machine. While waiting for my friends, there were cookies and water; I asked the worker if the waters and cookies were free and she said that the cookies were free but she did not know about the water and would get back to me after she confirmed with her colleague. She didn't return with an answer for 30 minutes, so I asked her co-worker. Her co-worker said she would have to ask her other co-worker (the one I asked first). She came back and said "those are for members only." Therefore, I took a water bottle because I am a member. Then, the worker came up to me with a raised voice angrily saying "Why did you take the water when both of us said no?" I calmly responded that I did not get a definite answer from either of them and that I am a member. The worker continued to argue with me. I happily offered to pay for the water multiple times. Finally, she walked to the back and screamed to her co-worker "SHE TOOK A WATER AND SHE DIDN'T EVEN GET A SPRAY TAN." The entire facility heard this. The worker ironically returned to the front desk and said "have a nice day." It seemed like she had a bad day, but regardless of that, it is unacceptable to treat a customer like that over a silly little water bottle. I enrolled in a membership early January & wanted a base tan before an upcoming vacation. Unfortunately if it snows the store closes. This happen twice in one week. This is the Chicago burbs it's going to snow! When I asked if they can post on social media or change their voice message to reflect the closing , the manager said " we leave a note on the door!" & that's all we are able to do. I also was told I could put my membership on hold for a small fee since I was going out of town , great! Let's do it. Fast forward 2 months and I'm ready to go back but I noticed that I was still paying the full membership. I spoke to a "manager" who by the way would not give me her first name. She said she doesn't need to disclose her name. So who knows who I talked to since you get a different description of the rules depending who you speak to. Tell me that there is nothing in the system of my "membership on hold" and there is nothing they can do. She also told me If I call corporate they will just forward it back to the store. Good grief. Awful customer service! Driving in today to cancel it's NOT worth it - beware! read more

Overall one of the better tanning salons locally. I think that the customer service could be better (seems to be a trend with tanning salons), but they can be friendly. Tuesdays are really busy and if you are coming on that day you better be ready to wait for a bed. THAT is actually a good thing because it shows that people like to tan here. I have a current level 2 package which is actually a level 3 bed in most places. The bulbs are NEW so it's actually nice to see WARNING NEW BULBS on some of the doors every now and then. I called to get information about tanning and an employee named emily answered the phone rudely like I was bothering by calling. I asked her questions about tanning and she basically was like are you done...worst customer service I've ever received from anywhere. Someone like that so should not be working with customer service at all. She had an attitude on the phone the whole time I did tell her she did not have to be rude to me and I was simply just wanting to know about the tanning specials. Worst experience I've ever had with this. And I've been in customer service for tanning and spas for 7 years. No one that acts like that towards potential new clients should not act like that. Emily was absolutely the worst person to ever contact anout this and I will not be ever going to this location because of her! If she's acting like that to people who could be new clients who knows how she acts on a daily basis with regular clients! read more

I've been several times and it's always clean and inviting. The manager has worked with me to build my base tan gradually and maintain it with a series of products and spray tans. My skin is glowing and ready for the summer!!! Glad they have a new staff and/or management because it seems to be running a lot better than before! I just started going to this LA TAN location and it is the largest location that I have been to. Not to mention that it is very clean and organized. The only negative thing that I can say is that their upgraded bed with the cool mist and armotheapy feature does not work. Very disappointing. Why have an upgraded bed that offers these great two features only to have it not work!? read more

Ughhh! Yesterday they said open til 3pm today Arrived at 1:30.... CLOSED!! Another woman and I standing out there were mad Bc we both went out of our way to go tanning! I went to the other location, but I prefer the old spray tan booth at this location(not the versa spa). Ughhh! Better now than it was months ago. They finalllyyy "upgraded" the spray tan booth. Got a new foot mat, mirror, and hand wipes. Too bad it is usually never working right (like when I went on Friday). Staff is decent. Wish the music level was more quiet Bc I like to go after a long day to relax, not dance in a club. read more

Original review (6/2014): I don't know where to start with this place. I tanned here for about a month before summer and every time I went In the experience was worst than the last. On several occasions the girl (who I'm thinking is the manager) would be outside shouting on her phone. On another occasion she was changing a baby's diaper on the couches. On every occasion I was never greeted when I walked in. Usually the manager and another girl (and on several occasions, their friends) would be sitting chatting and not acknowledge me at all until I was right at the counter. This is one of the poorest examples of customer service I have ever seen. I will not be going back there. read more

This place has the most horrendous service I have ever experienced. I have been trying to cancel my membership for two months now. When I initially tried to cancel, I was told I needed to activate my membership from a 'hold' status for one billing cycle before I could cancel. I was then told I could come in anytime before the 15th to cancel before the following cycle was billed, and that I had to cancel IN PERSON. After doing everything I was instructed, I came into the location to cancel my membership on the 14th, and was rudely told by the associate that there was "no way" to stop this cycles billing because I was there after the 10th, and that there is no way to cancel my membership, that it is done ONLY BY CORPORATE. This, after being told by the previous associate that I could ONLY cancel in person. I was not given any manager contact information although I asked many times, and I have not received a call from anyone after a promise someone would follow-up. Every time I walk into this place, I am given a different set of rules in order to cancel, and with the exception of one time, I have been treated rudely. Thsi place is nothing more than a facade to scam as many people as possible out of their money. read more

Probably my favorite location, it's just super out of the way for me since I don't work in the area anymore. I like their beds more than the location right down the street from me and the staff isn't pushy or nosy. Rooms are a decent size and I love having full length mirrors for when I put on my lotion. read more

JUST TO CLARIFY, THE ONE STAR IS ONLY A REQUIREMENT. ZERO STARS. ZERO. I have been to this location only a few times, and each time I have encountered staff who are lazy and standoffish. I will elaborate on lazy in a minute. When asking simple questions about their services I knew more than they did. Somebody might be new, that's fine. But to literally be told "I don't know" when I'm asking about what bed would be best to use is horribly unprofessional and honestly just quite stupid. I used this locations VersaPro machine once and it was DISGUSTING. There was globs of some kind of bronzing agent all over the room. The floors, the inside of the booth, the DOOR. I have never had such an outstandingly filthy tanning room. I will never return to this location after not having one good experience. Train your staff. Clean your store. Or just close it and let business go to the exceptionally clean and professional locations like in Lombard or Western Springs. read more

I've been tanning at many different salons and this LA tan is tied for the #1 spot on my list. The beds are great, I always get great color from them. The beds are 6 different levels. I use the Level III stand up bed because it seems to give me better color than any other bed there. They have $5 Tuesdays where you can tan in a Level I, II, or III bed for $5. Awesome deal, but the only downside to that is if you go any time after 3 PM it's pretty crowded and you're more than likely going to have to wait for a few minutes. You can buy monthly unlimited packages which are cheaper if you use your credit card. I pay with cash and for 1 month unlimited tanning in Level I, II, or III bed and 1 spray tan, it's $94. That's actually a pretty good deal compared to most other salons in the area that cost over $100. If you want to get great color, I'd recommend you try LA Tan in Bloomingdale out. read more

This is not my usual LA tan but I came here since I was in the area. I walked in 20 minutes before closing & waited 5 minutes jus for the girl to realize a customer walked in until I actually had to stand in the hallway for her to notice. I asked her a few questions about the spray tan which she couldn't even answer. Then she told me that "store policy is to take the last tan 15 minutes before closing". 1. Why would you close it 15 minutes before closing the store -CHANGE YOUR HOURS OF OPERATION if you're going to reject me for a service I'm paying $60 for every month & you can't give me my service and just close 15 minutes before. You should accept EVERY customer until the minute you actually close and nothing should be shut down until then, that is why it is called hours of OPERATION. The girl I came in to see worked Friday; 8/18/17. She seemed to just want to leave for the night & offered no help. I was disappointed with this experience and i typically never write reviews but this experience was agitating. Any other LA tan I've gone to accepted me minutes before closing because they seem to acknowledge what hours of operation mean. This is the ONLY La tan that does this "store policy". read more

I used to love this salon I have been coming for years and it's crazy to see how many good employees have left this salon after working for such a long time. none of the new employees have a good sense of what customer service truly is i've been greeted with sour faces and attitude, they upsell every product and service not even offering a deal or a service that really benefits the customer it's hard to want to come back this location after they try to strip every dollar out of your wallet. read more
