After he left yesterday when I went to clean up after him, I opened the closet door in the bathroom and was surprised to see that he hadn't replaced the flooring. I texted him and he basically said I was the problem because he gave me a good price and that I was being ungrateful. I'm not going to lie and say he didn't work hard and try to do a good job. I think Richard lacks in customer service skills and maybe his abilities are not up to such difficult tasks. I was very disappointed that we couldn't come to an understanding about finishing the job because we had talked about more projects around my home that needed to be done. *I just read Richards response to my review. I don't like being dismissed as the problem here. I have an estimate and text messages to back up what I have claimed. The vinyl he says I was to provide was left over from a previous flooring job and was an OPTION to use not the plan that his estimate was based on.

This is where I will introduce you to "Noel" our representative at Mike & Sterling's. He was absolutely fantastic throughout the entire process. He was very educational, answered all of our questions, secured the best pricing on the product we chose, worked tirelessly with the "goofy" contractor we selected and was always maintained great communication with us throughout the remodel. These guys are the worst!!! They were supposed to meet us at our house to give a bid. We called…read morethem and told them we would be 5 minutes late and to please wait in the drive. Well, my front door was unlocked because other authorized workers were carrying supplies in. The representative from Mike & Sterlings , without permission, let himself in my house. No one--not even another worker--gave him permission. No one should enter someone's house without permission. He opened the door and asked another person what the address is. So that's what they do open a door and ask what the address is. The other workers did not stop him because it's not their job, but told me someone was in my house. I yelled where are you, found him downstairs, having opened several doors and gone into my private storage with all my valuable. The guy was at my house to give me a bid to refinish my wood floors, and my wood floors are on the main floor where he entered, and where he took no measurements. I have had probably 100 workers meet me at my house over the years none crossed the line by illogically entering. I called the police and reported him, they came to my house interviewed the other workers and called the culprit. Here I am posting a picture of the guy who entered my home and his car. If you for some reason decide to work with these guys stay away from him. He did not appear to have stolen anything, but you dont find out this stuff till much later when you go through your belongings. I could never do business with a company like this and hope you don't. I currently do not know if anything is missing.

I got other bids and they ranged from advising me that all the stucco on the house needed to be replaced at thousands of dollars, to just power washing it. Brian cleaned off all the mildew, brought the stucco up to the current code by adding a slope to all horizontal surfaces for better drainage and fixed a couple of areas that weren't draining correctly. He got everything done in a day, cleaned up all materials and I thought his price was very reasonable for how hard he had to work (I had tried cleaning the stucco myself and it was hopeless!). But not all of the things I was told would be fixed were taken care of, and I still think people need to know about the workers who actually come out to the properties. I hired Loveland Landscapes and Gardens for a xeriscape project. The workers were not very respectful of my property and really didn't do a professional job: - They left trash (soda cans, water bottles, paper) when they left. - A worker ran over one of my solar lights (in a section that wasn't being worked on). I saw on my security camera that he backed up over it, then they proceeded to just scoop it up and throw it in the garbage. They couldn't even be bothered to report it to us or their employer. (Loveland did reimburse me for the light.) - They left my sprinklers running for 6+ hours. In the middle of the day. In this drought. - They started the project on a Friday and left for a three-day weekend. Without asking if it was okay, they parked their heavy machine in my backyard, ruining the grass that was underneath it. - They failed to bring 3 tons of the rock I paid for, did not make the rock depth as deep as it should have been, did not fully cover the ground with weed barrier, and didn't do any work in a section that was specifically included in the project. Even when they came back a week later, most of the issues weren't fixed. My parents also had this company xeriscape their front yard at the same time and had shoddy work done, as well as other issues (the workers going into their backyard to pick fruit off their tree and pee by their shed...). I also found out from one of the owners that instead of talking to my dad about some issues with the work being done (or contacting the project manager), the workers just pretended they couldn't speak English and ignored him. In response to all the concerns I had, the officer manager wrote, "I have never had anyone complain about them, they have been with our company for 15+ years." I felt like that was a dismissive response. Plus, since my parents also had issues with the workers who went to their house, I have a hard time believing we're the only people to deal with this. Poor work habits don't appear overnight. One of the owners did stop by to bring a check for the extra cost on my utility bill from the sprinklers being left on. However, after speaking with her about my experience, my impression of the company overall did not improve, especially when I was told that as an owner, she shouldn't have to deal with these things. She did offer to have people come out to look at the work that still wasn't fixed, but since there were issues all three days they were at my house, I didn't want to risk having something else happen, so I'll just do what I can to fix things.

Using Paintsmith was a negative experience our family and neighborhood won't soon forget…read more When Matt negotiated the paint job on our home we specifically requested top-of-the-line premium paints to be used, and he "gave us his word" that he and his crew would, and we were quoted for the difference in price. But then after starting the job my wife watched his workers, at his direction, pour paint from one entirely different generic looking bucket into another, and bring it into the house to continue painting. And when I came home at lunch, and asked Matt about it, he got condescending and started making some excuse about my wife being confused or that his workers were confused, even though they were only following his orders. But Matt kept insisting it would be fine. As I was walking back out to my car to return to the office I noticed the two "other" buckets of paint at Matt's vehicle, so out of curiosity I went to home depot where he said he bought his paint, and sure enough the other paint was significantly cheaper than the paint he promised to use in his bid and according to employees was not even close in quality to the more premium one that was supposed to be used in the job. I'm no paint expert, but the rooms they painted with the second paint even smelled different that night from the first where they started the job. Typical bait-&-switch of an unprofessional businessman, and had my wife not stayed home that day and been paying attention we wouldn't have known. The following day before settling the bill with Matt I again questioned the paint switch, and told him I wasn't comfortable paying full price for a job he used lower grade paint. He immediately got indignant and threatened to place a lien against our home if we didn't pay the bill in full, raising his voice at me in front of my wife and children. Even the neighbors heard him. Somehow I was hoping I was wrong, but now a year later the hallway and rooms that were painted with the cheaper paint are showing definite signs of wear, and you can even scrape it off with your fingernail. Needless to say I won't be using his services again, and rest assured being as his unsavory rant and threats turned into the buzz of the neighborhood, neither will a lot of other people.
