We did a return trip and had a radically different experience. The first entree came out, then five minutes later our appetizer arrived. It was 15 minutes before the second entree hit the table. Instead of an explanation or apology, the server started telling us she had to come in on her off day and that our dishes came out apart because had she not turned them in together they would have come out separately?!?!, Wtf? The food was fine but service was a mess.

If it weren't so far away, I know everyone in bham would be obsessed with this place. My go-to ramen orders are the tonkotsu ramen and the miso ramen. The noodles are fresh and as close to authentic ramen as you can get here. The chashu is clearly made with care, and the soft-boiled egg, my favorite part of any ramen, was perfect. The broth was savory without being bland or overly salty. The restaurant has a unique honeycomb seating arrangement that makes it a fun spot for photos, and the service is attentive and friendly.

Love this place! I get something different every time I go. This sake has an apple taste and was amazing! My favorite appetizer is still the dumplings! My favorite tea is the passion fruit. Would love this honeycomb platter to be an entree option for the eel on rice! Service was great and informative about the menu. Waited to sit in the honeycomb and it was worth the wait!

Probably somewhere between a 4 and 5 star, but that's not an option, ha. I rounded up. This is our....5th visit?...here since they opened. I do feel the ramen was better on our earlier visits than this one, but still not bad. Their chashu pork is always lacking. The texture is not right and the flavor is not that great. They do a great job with their egg though, just the right texture. The honeycomb sample platter is not bad either. My SO appreciated the variety. They have become a lot less busy since they first opened. I guess the newness wore off. Service is about the same, pretty decent. The Tbaar remains the true 5-star for me. They do a great job with their drinks! All things being equal, their drinks would draw me there versus another ramen restaurant.

I was there last night with my friend and ordered A1 combo with side orders of braised pork belly, I like the soup's taste on this cold weather, but the pork belly is lacking in flavor, it's a little tough, believe it needs a little more cooking, not a fan of the matcha pudding, now this opinion is just me, I don't like it, service is so so, the server didn't come back to check on us until we're ready to go. All in all, I don't think I will come back anytime soon.,not for me, the ambiance is fine though.

The restaurant itself was nice but smaller than I had expected. We were there around 2 on Saturday and we got seated right away. The honeycomb seating was not available to sit at because I believe they were under construction so that was a little disappointing since that's where my daughter wanted to sit. But wasn't that big of a deal. The food and service was great.

I saw this place on the Bham Now IG page and wanted to come check it out. This place is super cute on the inside. The honeycomb seating area is what makes the place but I was underwhelmed with my food. Started out with the crispy sweet chili wings. The outside was crispy and had a kick but the inside was fatty and felt undercooked to me. I got the shoyu beef ramen and it was just ok. The service was good and they were very nice so I will give them points for that.

Inside was very cool. The food was so good and very pretty. The dishes and plating of everything felt very fancy. Our server was very nice and helped us order off the menu. We got everythinf we ordered. They have a lot of cool drink options that are very pretty. Everything we tried was very good. Going here was def worth it.

I had a pleasant and delicious experience at Kyuramen. The flavor actually replicates traditional Japanese profiles very well. The broth is deep, albeit a little too fatty. The braised pork belly was a generous portion and incredibly flavorful, as were the Katsuobushi. This was the standout. The curry was also presented well, poured over the omelette after it was split over a bed of fried rice. We got the takoyaki balls (8) which were fresh and chewy- very umami and a great appetizer. I recommend the Thai iced tea 75% sweetness as a sweet accompaniment. Service was speedy too. We were quoted a 30-40 min wait for a table but elected for a seat at the bar (15 min wait). While we had multiple hosts and servers address us, they were all incredibly friendly and attentive. I loved the arrangement and ambiance of this place, but I think they could use more floor seating to accommodate such a large crowd especially on weekends. I look forward to returning to get a heart bowl of ramen or other snacks reminiscent of traditional street fare.

This place has been open since December and already has quite a following. They have hive seating which looks super cute and fun. We waited to see if we could get a table in a hive pod, but there were none available so we sat at a regular table. For an appetizer we tried the bao Buns which were really good. We got two pork and two chicken and split them with the other couple that was with us. I liked the wide selection of Ramen bowls that they offered. There was something for everyone. Also the service was really good. They had a cool marketing strategy. At the bottom of your Ramen bowl if there was an English word such as drink or dessert you won that item!! We had four in our group and three won a prize.

Kyuramen off 280 has been on our list for a while. Some of my crew are ramen people and some are not, but we managed to find something delicious for everyone. The place has really unique honeycomb booth seating as well. We enjoyed the chicken ramen, honeycomb platter, spring rolls, boba x 2, and Korean kimchi ramen. Everything was so tasty, and the service was great as well.

Upon walking in you'll realize this place is a vibe like none other in the area. You have a tea shop and take out order area and once you get to the main area you're greeted by a giant "tree" made out of tags, a honeycomb seating area, and other seating areas with curtains. It has a laid back yet intimate setting. The staff is quick and friendly. You don't necessarily have a dedicated waiter for your table which provides you with faster service. There's a call button at your table where you can click "order" or "pay" which makes things way easier than waiting on someone. I love it! You even pay at your table instead of giving your card away (which is something I think everywhere should adopt!) My table ordered the #6 Kyushu Spicy Pork Tonktasu, a Honeycomb Platter, and Tonkatsu Omurice with a Thai iced tea (which isn't normally my thing but it tasted great. I will be back again to order from Tbaar). My favorite of the bunch was the ramen. The ramen noodles tasted freshly made and the broth was spicy and flavorful. The pork that came with the ramen was so tender that I was really impressed. The honeycomb platter was also a fun way to try a little bit of everything. My favorite in the platter was the Eel, it was seriously delicious. i would eat a whole bowl of that if I could. I also really enjoyed the chasu and lobster roll it came with. The omurice was huge but it was lacking a little flavor for me, and the tonkatsu was a little thin. It might not be my thing personally. I'm already planning my next visit though, as there are some other things i'd like to try and so far this has been my favorite ramen in Birmingham!

Such a cute ramen spot right off of 280. We got to sit in one of the honeycomb booths which was such a fun experience! I loved that they had a call button at the booth which could be used when you were ready to order or pay. The wait staff was friendly and quick to respond. We ordered the honeycomb platter which was perfect for trying a bunch of different appetizers. The eel and lobster balls were my favorite. Also ordered the omurice with tonkatsu which was just ok in my opinion but cool since they don't have this anywhere else in Bham. The spicy tonkatsu ramen had a flavorful broth and the chashu pork was tender and delicious!

Parking is plentiful, which is always a win in Birmingham, and there's plenty of seating both indoors and outdoors. It works well for small groups or larger parties. One thing to know going in: this isn't really a full-service setup. You order and pick up your own food, and aside from someone occasionally clearing empty pint glasses, there's not much table service. We actually didn't receive utensils with our food and had to go back up to the counter to grab some. Not a huge deal, just something to be aware of. I ordered the catfish sandwich with fries. The sandwich itself was delicious -- crispy, flavorful, and satisfying. My only small gripe was that it came in a to-go box. I understand it probably makes cleanup easier for them, but it does take away a bit from the dine-in experience. The fries were shoestring style, which just aren't my personal favorite. They're fine, but I always feel like I need about three handfuls to feel satisfied. We went on a Saturday night and the brewery was packed -- and I mean packed. It was very loud and definitely more of a party atmosphere than a relaxing dinner vibe. If you're looking for a quiet night out, this probably isn't it. But if you want energy, beer, sports on TV, and a fun crowd, this place delivers. Overall, it's a great hangout spot to catch a game, grab a drink, and enjoy good food -- just expect a lively, high-energy scene.
