What we ordered: -Pork Tonkatsu Omurice: I was a bit nervous to try this but I'm so glad I did! The runny omelet is served atop a bed of fried rice and your choice of a sauce. I also ordered the pork tonkatsu but could've done without since the fried rice had chicken in it. I tried both of the sauces but my favorite was the curry. Only critique is that it could've used some salt. -#5 Shoyu Beef Ramen: my boyfriend really enjoyed this one. I'm not big on ramen but he loved it. Quite a large serving. -Brown Sugar Bubble Milk/Milk Tea: incredible! The design is honestly what made me want to check this place out in the first place I had seen it all over social media and it looked so cute and unique inside. When we got there, it definitely lived up to the aesthetic. The whole setup is really nice, very much so photo-worthy, and you can tell they put a lot of thought into the design! I was visiting from out of town and brought my mom and sister with me, so I was pretty excited for us. We were really hoping to sit in the honeycomb booths since that's what you always see on social media, but unfortunately they were blocked off when we arrived, which was a little disappointing. It wasn't a dealbreaker, but it did take away from the experience we were expecting. The servic is where things started to fall short. Our waiter wasn't very attentive, and there were pretty long gaps between him checking on us. We found ourselves waiting a while for simple things, which made the experience feel a bit off. On a positive note, the food did come out pretty quickly, so I'll give them that. That said, the food itself just didn't really hit for me personally . It looked good, but flavor-wise it was kind of underwhelming. We also didn't receive the Cherry Blossom jelly that we asked for with my combo, our server just kind of forgot, and when we requested soy sauce, it took quite a while to get it. I want to love this place. The decor is super cool and I bet it looks really pretty after dark. It's great to have some teas/bobas available in this part of town, way down 280. I came for lunch and did the lunch special. The gyoza appetizer was GREAT. The bao appetizer was good, just not my favorite, too mustard-y or something. Now the ramen, the star of the show, was frankly the real let down for me. Don't get me wrong, it was good and certainly filled me up. I'm not necessarily a ramen connoisseur. But, this was some of the least flavorful ramen I've ever had, and all of the accoutrements inside seems weirdly chewy, especially the pork. I wanted something spicy, and the waiter warned me this was a spicy one, and it wasn't. We got to sit in one of the little beehive booths, which have a button to request service. I do feel the ramen was better on our earlier visits than this one, but still not bad. Their chashu pork is always lacking. The texture is not right and the flavor is not that great. They do a great job with their egg though, just the right texture. The honeycomb sample platter is not bad either. My SO appreciated the variety. They have become a lot less busy since they first opened. I guess the newness wore off. Service is about the same, pretty decent. The Tbaar remains the true 5-star for me. I was there last night with my friend and ordered A1 combo with side orders of braised pork belly, I like the soup's taste on this cold weather, but the pork belly is lacking in flavor, it's a little tough, believe it needs a little more cooking, not a fan of the matcha pudding, now this opinion is just me, I don't like it, service is so so, the server didn't come back to check on us until we're ready to go. Wow! What a unique experience! As a first timer here I got their Honeycomb Platter, it is a sampler of their best appetizers. It is a good way to try and find what you like and don't like. You can buy large bowls of ramen, plates of food, or small plates. Tonight I went "Tapas style" where I order several small plates of different foods. One thing I noticed is that when you order a Diet Coke they bring you a can of it, so no refills. The server says there's only refills on water and sweet tea. I had a pleasant and delicious experience at Kyuramen. The flavor actually replicates traditional Japanese profiles very well. The broth is deep, albeit a little too fatty. The braised pork belly was a generous portion and incredibly flavorful, as were the Katsuobushi. This was the standout. The curry was also presented well, poured over the omelette after it was split over a bed of fried rice. We got the takoyaki balls (8) which were fresh and chewy- very umami and a great appetizer. I recommend the Thai iced tea 75% sweetness as a sweet accompaniment. Service was speedy too. We were quoted a 30-40 min wait for a table but elected for a seat at the bar (15 min wait). While we had multiple hosts and servers address us, they were all incredibly friendly and attentive. I loved the arrangement and ambiance of this place, but I think they could use more floor seating to accommodate such a large crowd especially on weekends. I look forward to returning to get a heart bowl of ramen or other snacks reminiscent of traditional street fare. read more

This place has been open since December and already has quite a following. They have hive seating which looks super cute and fun. We waited to see if we could get a table in a hive pod, but there were none available so we sat at a regular table. For an appetizer we tried the bao Buns which were really good. We got two pork and two chicken and split them with the other couple that was with us. I liked the wide selection of Ramen bowls that they offered. There was something for everyone. Also the service was really good. They had a cool marketing strategy. At the bottom of your Ramen bowl if there was an English word such as drink or dessert you won that item!! I've been waiting to try this place! My boyfriend took me here for date night and I was so excited when we pulled up. It's so cute in there. I wanted to sit in the honeycomb seats so we had a little bit of a wait but it wasn't that long at all. The menu is small but big at the same time? We ordered popcorn chicken and pan fried dumplings as appetizers. The chicken wasn't good to me but the dumplings? Delicious. I love a good dumpling. It took me forever to pick out what I wanted and I'm so glad that I went with the Pork Ramen. It pleasantly surprised me and was super flavorful I even had enough to take home. Upon walking in you'll realize this place is a vibe like none other in the area. You have a tea shop and take out order area and once you get to the main area you're greeted by a giant "tree" made out of tags, a honeycomb seating area, and other seating areas with curtains. It has a laid back yet intimate setting. The staff is quick and friendly. You don't necessarily have a dedicated waiter for your table which provides you with faster service. There's a call button at your table where you can click "order" or "pay" which makes things way easier than waiting on someone. I love it! You even pay at your table instead of giving your card away (which is something I think everywhere should adopt!) My table ordered the #6 Kyushu Spicy Pork Tonktasu, a Honeycomb Platter, and Tonkatsu Omurice with a Thai iced tea (which isn't normally my thing but it tasted great. I will be back again to order from Tbaar). My favorite of the bunch was the ramen. The ramen noodles tasted freshly made and the broth was spicy and flavorful. The pork that came with the ramen was so tender that I was really impressed. The honeycomb platter was also a fun way to try a little bit of everything. My favorite in the platter was the Eel, it was seriously delicious. i would eat a whole bowl of that if I could. I also really enjoyed the chasu and lobster roll it came with. The omurice was huge but it was lacking a little flavor for me, and the tonkatsu was a little thin. It might not be my thing personally. Umm. I've discovered that I'm much more of a mall food court Chinese person than the kind of guy that likes authentic ramen and Japanese cuisine. The Bao buns were tasty but heavy- the pork belly is mostly fat. The spring rolls were full of mushy rice noodles- the texture was awful. The popcorn chicken looked like it had been rolled in sand and was so heavily marinated it didn't even taste chickeny. The pan fried dumplings were pretty to look at but completely bland. And the ramen. Lord have mercy- it was the most foul and unpleasant mess that I've ever tried to stomach. Kyuramen - A Hidden Gem We'll Be Coming Back To When visiting Birmingham in Inverness. I had an incredible dinner at Kyuramen with my daughters and my oldest daughter's boyfriend, Juan. The food was amazing! I had this rice dish with a soft, half-cooked omelet on top--when they cut the omelet open, it gently spilled over the rice like a sauce. I didn't catch the name at the time, but I found out it's called Omurice--a Japanese comfort dish that's as cool to watch as it is to eat. I'd give it a solid 8 out of 10. One of my daughters had the vegetarian ramen, and she really liked it--she gave it a 7.5. My oldest had whatever was number 3 on the menu and said it was a 9 out of 10. Juan had number 2 and gave it an 8. So, clearly, we were all impressed. The restaurant itself is just as creative as the food. The seating along the wall is genius--it looks like little bucket-style booths that go upward. It's super cozy, makes smart use of space, and gives the place a fun, modern vibe. This was my first time coming, and I can truly say it will become a favorite of ours, easily. It was a little bit of a drive, and it's a little tucked away in the shopping center. It was rather busy, and you can't make reservations to my knowledge, but you can put your name on a waiting list. I was super excited that there was also a BOBA Bar inside to the right of the entrance. We tried the milk and brown sugar boba, and another fruity one-- passionfruit I believe. The drinks were phenomenal, and the food was even better. I had a spicier ramen with pork belly, and once I figured out how to use my chop sticks, this meal had no chance. I was sad when I ran out of ramen, but it was a perfect amount of food. We also got the bao buns and the popcorn chicken. My partner LOVED the bao buns but I wasn't a fan of the texture, however I can tell they were made VERY well, I just wasn't used to the doughy/fluffy texture of it. The popcorn chicken also had a great taste, and I used it to dip in the remainder of my ramen juices. The scenery in the location is beauiful, warm, and overall a must. Gotta say I was surprised when I arrived. Why? The day before my wife and I watched an online review. That was all the convincing we needed, but when we arrived, the restaurant was much smaller than what appeared in the video. Yes I was a little disappointed, but it was a minor point and doesn't subtract from our experience. Located in a large shopping center next to Kohl's off 280 in Inverness Corners, Kyuramen is practically brand new which explains why this Friday night was very crowded with at 40 minute wait for a table. There's a app and drink bar right inside the front door where you can order a variety of boba drinks, teas, smoothies and shakes as well as appetizers. If you order apps there, it will be considered a "take out" order so you'll have to go back there to pickup your food and take it to your table. We tried the coconut smoothie, strawberry & banana smoothie and the pina colada smoothie. Both were really good, but I liked the coconut smoothie better... strong coconut blended flavor. The decorations and layout were eye-catching. There's a large "tree" almost dead center of the open floor. From this tree were small wood-like cards with writing on them. I didn't quite a good look, but I suspect these were customer reviews and wishes... like a wishing well tree I think. On the far side was a honeycomb decorated wall with carved out spaces for a 6 top. You have to see the pictures to appreciate it's beauty. After our 40 minute wait, our party of 6 were actually seated in a private room. It was unlike any restaurant private room I've ever been in. Instead of a door, there was just a cloth cover hung from a rod. It's bench seating with a long table so if you're the first person in and you need to go to the restroom, everyone on that side of the table will have to slide out. When you're ready to order, you press a button on the wall which makes a loud ding on the smart watch that's on your server's wrist. Kyuramen's menu has many of the same elements of most Ramen restaurants. There's skewers, bao, dumplings, and of course a host of ramen in different broths and toppings. In addition, they have a classic japanese omurice. Our party really enjoyed the chili garlic edamame. It had just the right amount of kick. Also a big hit were the popcorn chicken and steamed pork bao buns. However the octopus balls had half the table inciting a rebellion. We all tried something different ordering the following: Mega Ramen Yinyang Bowl Spicy Tonkotsu Ramen Curry Ramen Katsuobushi Pork Ramen Pan Fried Gyoza Dumplings The kitchen is very accommodating and can substitute/replace any ingredient or topping. I enjoyed my Mega Ramen especially the tempura shrimp. The soup base had a stable mild flavor rich with the included slices of charsu pork. The curry ramen and spicy tonkotsu had a nice kick, but Tammy even added some table side cayenne pepper and the 7 spice powder. She remarked that she enjoyed the breaded and fried pork that came with her curry ramen. Rachel cleaned her plate of pork dumplings. Matthew's Yinyan bowl was interesting because the bowl was separated with a mild broth and spicy broth. It was basically 2 different ramen bowls in one. We all enjoyed our meals and drinks. Our server was attentive appearing a couple of times to refill our water without us having to press the button on the wall. Our food arrived in a timely manner even for such a busy Friday evening. After doing some Christmas shopping we stopped by and was seated and the seating was 3 levels of honeycomb seating which was unique to me seeing this.
