I've used Kyte and the pricing and quality of vehicles is much better than comparable services (i.e. Zipcar), and I like the flexibility of pickup/dropoff times as compared to going to a physical car rental place, which are usually closed on weekends. I've always had a seamless pickup/dropoff experience and the surfers are always courteous and professional. My only gripe is with the service area -- not sure why Kyte goes super far out into the suburbs, but doesn't cover neighborhoods that are ~2 miles from center city. read more

I rented a car from Kyte car rental and had a terrible experience. Three days after renting the car, one of the tires blew out while driving in Ocean City, Maryland. The mechanic who came to change the tire found that the tire was already worn out and that another tire was in the same condition(as you can see in the picture, the metal core exposed). Clearly as said by tire shops, this damage cannot be caused in two days. I took photos and videos of the damage and reported it to the company. However, Kyte argued with me about changing the tire and took a long time to resolve the issue. They finally told me I could Uber back to Philadelphia and leave the car there, and they would send someone to pick it up. The next day, they told me I had to go there and pick up the car myself and have it fixed. They also charged me $50 for rescheduling and extension fees, as well as a $900 deposit for the accident that was not my fault. I have been trying to connect with their customer service and claims team every day for five days, but no one is taking responsibility for their mistake. I would not recommend Kyte car rental to anyone. They put my safety at risk by giving me a car with worn-out tires and have not taken responsibility for their mistake. Their customer service is also very poor, and they have made it very difficult for me to resolve the issue. Please avoid renting from Kyte car rental. read more

I live in Los Angeles, so Kyte really works for me. I've booked for trips, commutes, and emergencies--and all instances have turned out great. I tried all three "tiers" of vehicles they offer and each time, a clean and solid car (for a rental) showed up at my door. The surfers are mostly on time and courteous, the drop-off/pick-up service is super-convenient, and the returns have (so far) been smooth and simple. As long as Kyte LA can keep this up, I'm sure I'll remain a customer for all the times I'm in need of a vehicle. read more

Everything was great until I got charged 250 dollars for a deep cleaning fee after returning my rental in the exact condition it was handed off to me in. Like, absolutely identical condition, perfectly clean. Zero explanation, zero documentation, zero response from customer service for over 24 hours. Kyte went from "so much better than traditional rental companies" to somehow far worse and scammier than ANY rental car company I've ever encountered! And think about how low that bar is lol. My first time experience with Kyte was great. Until I was charged $50 for pet hair in the car. I have never been charged by a rental car company for dog hair and I take my extremely short haired dog almost every time I rent a car. There is nothing on the app that says anything about dog hair and I was directed to the "user agreement" which I clearly should have read with a fine tooth comb. The first correspondence said there was "excessive" hair and then the second said "any hair at all must be removed" so it sounds like the policy isn't even clear to Kyte. It's very disappointing because otherwise, my experience was great and I was planning to use them again but beware if you are going anywhere with your dog every single hair must be vacuumed or else there's a nice fee automatically charged to your credit card. read more

Kyte is a nice idea with glitchy execution. The app is overly complicated. My "surfer" was on track to drop off my car early. So, I arrived at the pickup point early. Then the surfer didn't show up until 20 minutes after the estimated time. Meanwhile, I stood out in the rain (because the drop-off shelter smelled like cigarette smoke... and worse). I expressed my concerns via email to customer service (who are probably AI bots). It took them five days and over 15 emails for them to get beyond empty apologies and platitudes. First time Kyte user. Had the car 10 days. Drop off and pick up were at Philadelphia Airport - at the Marriott Hotel at the airport. So a short walk from the terminal where my domestic flights gated. The process was surprisingly quick and on time. Far quicker and with less headache than my last few rentals through the usual suspect agencies, and no need for waits for a shuttle bus and the rental counter. And the car arrived warm on a cold winter morning! The "runner" Kasheem was great - he handled both ends. Literally a couple minutes to transact both the in and out hand offs. Kyte was a markedly cheaper rental than other options on Kayak, so I decided to try them. I will use them again if this is their norm for cost and ease of rental. read more

Love Kyte! The only reason I'm leaving 4 stars is because the traction control was messed up in the vehicle the first time I rented so it was very difficult to drive safely in a rain storm! But other than that, all of my experiences with Kyte have been seamless, convenient, and wonderful! The employees are super friendly and professional and always punctual! Experience was great in Atlanta, GA. We got on the Jiffy Rental shuttle and went to their lot, which also doubles as the Kyte lot. The Jiffy driver radioed that we were on the way and when we got there the KYTE Surfer was ready for us. Five miutes later we were heading down the highway in a 2024 VW Jetta with only 1400 miles on it. The drop off was a similar experience. Into the lot, dropped the car, back on the Jiffy shuttle and back to the airport. I don't think we were on the lot for more than a total of ten minutes! read more

At first I didn't know what to expect from this new company but I was willing to take a risk; the price was right. The surfer dropped off my car on time, was courteous and the car was nice! VW Passat and it drove very comfortably. Clean and fuel efficient. Not having to deal with the ticket counter or going to a parking lot made it super convenient. I reserved a rental vehicle through Kyte because it was significantly cheaper than the other rentals on Kayak. However, I didn't realize the many inconveniences that came along with the price. First of all, my flight landed at 12AM and Kyte services are only available during business hours so I was not able to pick up my rental car when I landed. HUGE INCONVENIENCE. I had to spend an additional $100 to Uber to my location. My flight time was changed and I tried to adjust the delivery time on the app. I was not able to adjust the delivery time, had to contact customer service which is through the app, and they wanted to charge me a fee. I will definitely not be using this service in the future and will just stick with a regular rental car service that allows more flexibility. read more

I was left with a car with a flat tire and there is no real customer service just a chat app where I was told for an hour+ We are contacting our ground crew and will be right back to you. For my two day rental I was given a Kia Forte with a leaky front passenger tire. Of course, we did not see the effects of this until 2 hours into our drive when our tire pressure continued to fall. After filling the tire up twice in our 200 mile journey we arrived at our destination. The next morning we awoke to a completely flat front passenger tire. We tried to contact support and after an hour of being stranded in the cold rain we were finally able to make communication with a support team member who did absolutely nothing to help us. Despite Kyte's supposed "24/7 roadside assistance" and the fact that we paid for maximum insurance and unlimited miles we were told that we would have to pay to have the car towed to a tire shop that was not even open. Additionally, the rental had the spare tire removed from the back, something the support team insisted was not the case. Through this extremely frustrating situation, the support team did nothing but offer passive aggressive comments and false information regarding the tow company and tire shop we were to use. This obstacle resulted in me missing an important work related meeting, which was the whole point in us getting a rental car in the first place. All this to say, accidents happen, but I am not writing this poor review because of an accident, I am writing it because of the lack of support the roadside assistance and Kyte support team handled this situation with was appalling. Additionally, multiple times did the support team offer to reimburse us for the inconvenience or even just the tire that we had to buy because of Kyte's faulty vehicle inspections, though it seems this was just an empty promise made by the support team so they could hang up on us, leaving us stranded with the sentiment "that sucks, good luck." Did we ever receive a way to report this reimbursement or even our lackluster experience? Of course not. I am extremely disappointed with this experience and I will not be recommending that anyone use the Kyte service. read more

The concept of a handover and go is fine but need to select better locations free of traffic and conflict to do so. What would be better is a commercial Turo process where you pick up a car in the airport short term parking lot and return it there as well. Taking too many photos on the return location and condition and having limited damage assessment on the pick-up are the main detractors of the experience. read more

If I could give zero stars, I would. Booked a confirmation weeks in advance. Three days prior to getting the car, I am texted and emailed "your trip has been canceled because we are sold out". Huh? How can my car be canceled when I have a confirmed reservation? My family needed the car to drive to Hersheypark - luckily we found another rental but this caused us short term stress because if we couldn't find a replacement car, we also would've forfeited $700 in Hersheypark tickets. Our first experience with Kyte was overall fantastic! Rented in Seattle. Wonderful and efficient service, both coming and going! No hassle and no waiting in long lines at rental counters. The only reason I am not leaving 5 stars is because my husband originally booked the car in January for an end of July rental. His license was due to be renewed in June, which he did prior to the expiration date, and uploaded proper documentation through the Kyte app as directed. About a week later (and a few weeks before our trip) his rental was cancelled without warning because they were unable to verify him as a driver. They use a third-party for driver verification and Kyte was unable to tell us what the issue was, nor verify him as a driver, so we had to start all over again and rent the car through my Kyte account. That was stressful but once I was verified the rental process was perfection and I would definitely rent again through Kyte! read more

Scammed in Philly by KYTE. I returned my vehicle in exact condition I received it yet got a bill a few weeks later for an over $600 repair to the driver side front tire. This was done 100 miles after my return odometer reading. They only provided the total page without invoice detail and after calling Midas for the full receipt I find out they replaced two tires got an alignment and paid for extra warranty. 5 emails to customer service and zero response, I promise you if you can find a working number they will not answer. Fly by night operation, DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME. I wish I had read the other reviews out there, they have issues everywhere they operate it seems. read more

Needed a way to get to work for only two days and Lyft /Uber were going to be expensive. Found this site and the prices more economical, plus the car would be delivered AND picked up! Such an easy process and convenient way to rent a car. The car was in like new and clean inside & out. Upon the return I could fill the tank up myself or have Kyte do it for me and they would take the funds from my security deposit. Already have another scheduled appointment to use again! read more

I've used Kyte about 6-7 times now, and each experience was seamless. The drop off and return process was timely and efficient. I appreciate that photos of the vehicle are taken on each occasion, and the surfers encourage me to document anything/everything pre-existing on the vehicle for my own peace of mind. The price is competitive, and ease of access for someone, like myself, who lives in a busy downtown area is a great value point. The vehicles have always been clean upon delivery, though my last vehicle smelled vaguely of cigarette smoke. I've never had any problems with the safety/quality of the vehicles, though they are basic models and lack things like USB/Bluetooth connections for your cell phone. For my needs and for the service provided, I give 5 stars. The convenience is enough to keep me coming back as a customer. read more

Amazing if you need a car for part of a vacation or don't want to pick-up/drop-off at the airport. I was traveling in Oregon for several weeks and only needed a car to drive to the coast for a few days, but didn't want to also pay the rideshare fees to get to/from the airport (where the best car deals were). They dropped off where I was staying, it took only a couple of minutes, and the car was in perfect condition. Pick-up was also easy and the price was super competitive. Didn't have to refill the gas tank and they only charged me for the gas I used. Highly recommend! read more
