Somewhere over Independence Pass, I noticed my brakes were going soft (again). At this point of my…read moreWestern US road trip, I figured something's up with my brakes. I had to get them adjusted every 600-800 miles. Rather than continuing onto Durango, CO on along 550 late on a Friday night I decided to camp for the weekend in Montrose and look up the local VW mechanic that had been referred to my by the local brake shop. I left a message the shop's voicemail and arrived first thing Monday morning. Bob diagnosed and fixed my brakes in 30-40 minutes while I waited. Turns out I had (have) a bent tab on my back plate and my brakes just need regular adjusting and maintenance. He charged me $20 buck and I was on my way. Another great old school VW mechanic.

Ol Reds Towing was called to tow our son's truck from Cedaredge, CO to PURE MOTORS, in Hotchkiss,…read moreCO. The truck never got to PURE AUTO. When we called PURE MOTORS to see how the truck was doing, they informed us that it never arrived at their location. My son called Ol Reds to ask where his truck was and it had been towed Hotchkiss Motors in Hotchkiss. We had never even heard of Hotchkiss Motors. Ol Reds response to my son was to cuss him out, telling him that he told them to go to Hotchkiss Motors. PURE AUTO was nice enough to go down to Hotchkiss Motors and bring the truck up to their shop. The person on the phone was EXTREMELY CONFRONTATIONAL AND RUDE AND NEVER DID OWN UP TO HIS COMPANIES MISTAKE. We will ensure that USAA never uses them as a tow company on the western slope. I'd rather walk than use this disreputable company. PURE AUTO was absolutely amazing, did an amazing job on the diesel truck, they were fair, perfectionists and the work was done perfectly and correctly! Now USAA will be informed that they are an auto shop that is honest and responsive.

With that being said save yourself the headache! After having my vehicle for 3 months to complete repairs, my paint is very clearly dripped as well as has an orange peal texture, various panels/ trim are not aligned, the trim is marked up with odd texture, the paint is now pealing around the trim where it was overworked, the hood is not aligned, and there is now what appears to be a pellet/ small caliber bullet indent/ paint damage that wasn't there previously. I complained and they gave me my $500 deductible back. However, upon taking it to the dealership for membership routine maintenance, I was informed that their poorly done work had deprivation my vehicles value by over $5000 easily, so I would've rather just paid my deductible and had my vehicle repaired correctly with integrity. Now, I'm stuck figuring out who to take it to that is trust worthy and cover the cost of fixing all of the work done out of pocket, verses the insurance finances they were paid to do the job to begin with.
