If you have never had the deli's Broasted Chicken is THE BEST!!!! Smelling it as you drive past is brutal to resist. The older women in the deli recognize us, we love them. Meats, cheeses, salads, and fries from deli are delicious too. Local flair and local foods...highly recommend!!!!!!!

Over…read morethe four years that I have worked in Prairie du Sac, I have repeatedly sworn off this Sentry in favor of the nicer and newer Piggly Wiggly in Sauk City. The store manager is surprisingly rude, though I will give the employees credit for having a nice demeanor most of the time. Unfortunately for them, their store is dingy and dated. The layout is in the typical 70's era fashion. I never did any significant grocery shopping at this store, but when I did need to pick up certain items it was always hit-or-miss, since the selection was never all that good. The produce area was not terrible, though I don't recall ever seeing organic. I used to frequent the deli for lunch quite often since it was a quick walk, but the food was generally mediocre and occasionally terrible. Most of the food was either fried or broiled. There were a few instances where I was impressed, but these were unfortunately few and far between. I recall there would be sandwich specials from time to time, including turkey with sun-dried tomato and provelone. These were quite good, but it was only a rare occurrence and most days you would have to settle for the same-old. I sometimes would try the pre-made cold sandwiches and salads, but these were never good. I now make it a point to either bring in my lunch or drive to Sauk City rather than go back to the bad old days at the Sentry.

Produce section looked fresh and well organized. We don't shop the junk in the middle isles, so no feedback on that part. We just moved back to WI from our TX home and would really appreciate getting a nicer grocery store for Richland Center. Our only choice is terrible. You would do very well here! I would go back and shop there again.

Upon entering there is always a "deal of the day" on some type of meal, which has saved the day for some dinners. The bakery selection is pretty decent; you'll always find great dinner rolls, Italian breads, quality buns for cookouts, delicious pies and treats. The produce section is well-stocked and the best in towns far as quality. There is always someone enthusiastic in produce willing to help and frequently will offer to let you try fruits that are limited or seasonal and give information about the new additions. Pre-cut fruits and veggies available, as well as trays for gatherings. Something is always on special in produce. There's always someone stocking or behind the meat counter to help, which is great and saves time. It's best to watch for sales on the shelf items because Festival is the pricier one in town for those -that is my only reason for four stars. It's better for us to go to Festival for produce and deli but our receipt adds up fast when we go for our dry goods. Great selection of local ice creams, have to love that in Wisconsin! Decent liquor selection and always someone to help you out with a great attitude. Not a large floral department but there's a modest selection of fresh cut flowers and plants that have lasted me a long time. They added some self checkout in the last year to help with avoiding long lines, which has been a great addition. Both the long-time cashiers and the ones in training are always efficient and friendly. This Festival hires young staff members on their team and do a wonderful job choosing their applicants as they do a great job making conversion and being efficient. Overall it's the freshest store in town with great service! Side notes; lots of parking, they do pretty well on keeping the carts stocked as well. It's convenient that they have umbrellas to use to get to your car if it starts raining and return at the front!

With a small section of fresh produce, some cookware, utensils, and a mix of everything from gloves to homeopathic goods. While this store is Amish run, they are not selling Amish goods. They buy in bulk, repackage in store, and sell at very reasonable prices. Let's take a tour of the store, outside is both paved and dirt parking, as well as a horse and buggy only zone. Walking in the front door is a selection of flyers with updates about local businesses and events. Once inside straight ahead is checkout, to the right is a plentiful heard of shopping carts. The first isle (starting at the right from the front of the store.) has a selection of fresh produce, apples, onions, and sweet potatoes are the everyday staples complimented with seasonal accompaniments. Down the isle are an assortment of snack goods, soup mixes and the like. Next is my favorite isle, the baking isle, it contains a lovely assortment, starting from the back there is a collection of oils, vanillas, and a few other extracts. Across the aisle is a selection of flours*, baking mixes, and meals. Next to the oils and extracts is a selection of chocolate, chips, marshmallows, and sweet baking ingredients. Next up is a selection of pudding and Jello mixes, and a great dark Coco powder. Across this wonderful isle is a large selection of spices, prices are great and a ton of variety. Also on the isle is a selection of baking conditioners: malted milk powder, buttermilk powder, and powdered milk, including whole milk powder. *Oh yeah about those flours, they sell semolina flour at a great, amazing price. They stock a fair amount of King Arthur flours in a variety of repackaged sizes, 5 and 10 lbs, with 50 lbs sacks up front beyond the registers. The next isles have a good selection of snacks: classic candies, nuts, chocolate covered this and that; oats: stone cut, regular, and quick; other breakfast goods: cold cereal, muffin and pancake/waffle mixes, etc. Last but not least there is a variety of corn syrups. The back wall has a selection of dry pasta, and the last isle has a mix of cookware, and little things. Up front before the registers is a random mix of clearance items, 50 lbs sacks of potatoes. On the front wall is a mix of 25 & 50 lbs sacks of flours and oats for $13-$20 for 50 lbs including King Arthur.

There was quite a lineup at the bakery, as only so many people can file in and purchase items that are stored in racks on the perimeter of the small room, lit by skylights. The general store is about a 5 minute drive from there. Well stocked, especially with bulk and preserved food items. I needed soy flour and this was the ONLY place I could find it, and at a very reasonable price! Service was good and friendly. If you take children with, keep in mind that the wait for the bakery could be as long as an hour, but they don't mind the children checking out the farm animals nor playing in ample yard space.

This happened. Anyplace you can buy gas, toothbrushes, candy, toy cars and monkey butt is a winner…read more (I didn't buy the monkey butt- I laughed REALLY hard). It all started when the three year old child of my friends asked me about the "Chuck Store" Moi: "What is a 'Truck Store'?" Kid: "CHUCK, it is the bestest store ever in the whole world with candy!" Moi: "Do they have a toothbrush? He forgot to pack a toothbrush..." Kid: "Duh. They have EVERYTHING, and candy too." Indeed. Naturally, I had to see this marvel. And the kid tells no lies- this is part gas station, part old-timey general store, part hardware store, gardening center, liquor store, candy emporium and drugstore- that is a whole lotta hats, but the lady working the counter was clearly a pro able to direct me to candy and toothbrushes with ease. For the kid, a combo of monster truck toy car and lolly pop that took two days of effort to eat ($1.29, pictured with all it's awesome glory). That car is miraculously still intact. Have you played with a three year old? I'm surprised I am intact, kid is relentless and makes my hyperactive energy look tame. Awesome. For me to keep up, a Starbucks double shot chugged at light-speed and the priceless shot of Lady Monkeybutt- which I cannot believe is a real product and had me laughing hysterically as much as the three year old. Maybe more. I didn't know places like this existed anymore, but am glad they do.
