This store is also the most genuine one of all the ones I've set foot into. When you come in, you are greeted by a nice lady who then explains that all their fudge are made in-house from scratch, no gimmicks, she offers you some fudge samples and leaves you alone to check out all the sweets in the store. Candy Kitchen's fudge has a very good flavor and consistency overall. It's creamy and soft but still holds a solid state. They also have a good flavor variety to choose from. I ended up buying half a pound of the double dark chocolate and half a pound of the chocolate nuts. So far, I've tasted the double dark alongside the fudge from the 2 other fudgeries and have reached a conclusion that the fudge from Candy Kitchen is superior both in taste and quality. If I ever come back to these parts some day, I will be sure to stop by here again!

From the outside the store doesn't look very big, but the store extends very far back. The staff have always been cheerful & they do a great job wrapping up your gifts at the counter if they ask. It feels great to support a local business too. Parking is limited to the marked street parking on the Square but there's usually a spot. If not, just a block away is a large parking lot & it's a short stroll over to the store. I highly recommend this business for shopping local or just popping in to uplift your spirits!

As far as small-town grocery stores go, this Sentry is a couple of decades behind the times. Over…read morethe four years that I have worked in Prairie du Sac, I have repeatedly sworn off this Sentry in favor of the nicer and newer Piggly Wiggly in Sauk City. The store manager is surprisingly rude, though I will give the employees credit for having a nice demeanor most of the time. Unfortunately for them, their store is dingy and dated. The layout is in the typical 70's era fashion. I never did any significant grocery shopping at this store, but when I did need to pick up certain items it was always hit-or-miss, since the selection was never all that good. The produce area was not terrible, though I don't recall ever seeing organic. I used to frequent the deli for lunch quite often since it was a quick walk, but the food was generally mediocre and occasionally terrible. Most of the food was either fried or broiled. There were a few instances where I was impressed, but these were unfortunately few and far between. I recall there would be sandwich specials from time to time, including turkey with sun-dried tomato and provelone. These were quite good, but it was only a rare occurrence and most days you would have to settle for the same-old. I sometimes would try the pre-made cold sandwiches and salads, but these were never good. I now make it a point to either bring in my lunch or drive to Sauk City rather than go back to the bad old days at the Sentry.
