I usually parked my car in this area, because it was close to my job. I had to use the bathroom sometimes and I didn't exactly have many options. I was very polite and I bought something when I could. I couldn't buy something every time I had to go, but I always made sure to buy my fuel and water at this Kwik Trip. I usually only used the bathroom here at night when other businesses were closed. It only took a couple weeks before they made it clear I wasn't wanted. Not only were they very rude, but I also had the police anonymously called on me. I can't be 100% certain it was them, but I can't think of anyone else who had a problem with me. I was clean, quiet, and I kept to myself. I also never did anything illegal. After that I couldn't sleep in my usual spots without running into a cop. I didn't have problems at any other place. Even other Kwik Trips were all right with me using the facilities without buying something every time. Especially #382 was very kind to me. Because of how they treated during a very difficult time of my life, I will never go to this Kwik Trip again. They treated me as if I wasn't good enough to be there, like I was less than human. Please remember homeless people are still human beings and deserve to be treated as such. Their lives are difficult enough without having to deal with rude jerks.

Instead, while in downtown Rochester, I decided to top my car's gas tank at this Holiday gas station. This Holiday is just off South Broadway. It's a nice, large gas station with pumps in the double digits. The convenience store looked massive! I didn't need to go in. I like when U.S. gas pumps accept Canadian credit cards. The one that I used did not prompt for a ZIP code. All went well. I simply had to insert it and enter my PIN. Holiday is affiliated with Cub Foods. I got prompted to enter my Cub rewards card. I don't have one, so I skipped that part. I was thrilled to have topped off my car's gas tank. The area around the gas pump that I used was clean and great. The only downside was that each pump has a screen that plays ads. Every one was saying something that it does get noisy. This gas station is spacious. A Rochester bus was parked off to the side, likely taking a break before going back on its regular route. It didn't block any vehicle coming in and out of this gas station. I had a pleasant experience. I'll need to check out the convenience store next time I'm here. (492)

BEST. GAS STATION. EVER. Seriously. I have been to so many states and on so many road trips and…read morethis is THE BEST!!! Why, you ask? First of all, they have RECYCLING next to the trash can. It is the ONLY place I ever seen this and they get 10 stars from me for having it!!! 2nd: They have hand sanitizers at the pumps. How cool is that? I have never seen it either. As a public health professional I find both of these things completely fabulous! 3rd: This one most normal people will enjoy too. ;-) There is an entrance on both westbound Civic Center Drive as well as North and South bound 11th Ave NW. Not only are there entrances, but there are separate pump areas for each entrance, so coming in and out is quite easy. This was by far the cleanest gas station I have ever been to. They have a customer for life. :-) Okay, well, anytime I am in Rochester anyway.

I love Kwik Trip! Whenever I'm driving, I always make an effort to stop at one over any other gas…read morestation. The bathrooms are always clean, and the stores usually have a layout that makes finding caffeine or just a snack super easy. This Kwik Trip in particular closes at 11 p.m. most nights - a bit earlier than other Kwik Trips and even earlier than the one at the bottom of the hill. Not really sure why that is.
