Went with my boyfriend to get his car brakes changed, dropped off at appointment time( around 9 in the mornin) , walked around a bit hoping wouldn't take a while. Had to call to see what the status of the car was and barely working on the car and gave an estimate after a few minutes the call ended. Really wouldn't recommend to go if service for brakes only takes an hour or two to complete. read more

We've used their services for a number of years now, for oil change and basic car repair, and have had zero problems with them. Oil change is around $43 and getting a nail out of a tire was $30. They offer a discount if you pay in cash, as well as multi car discount. All repairs have been quality and even after this many years we're not having the same problems with our cars, which imo shows professionalism. read more

Took my car in around 2 to get my tire fixed, they said it'd be done by the end of the day, I went back a little before they closed and they hadn't gotten to it, the lady behind the counter was very rude, and never called me back to say that they weren't able to get it in that day and that they weren't going to be able to get it done till they opened again, which isn't until Monday, 2days later. read more

On 8/29/19 I took my car in for the following: Oil/filter change, tire repair, tire rotation and check headlights. The tire was beyond repair, but they did rotate the spare to the back etc. (I had tire damage coverage from the tire shop) and called me about my headlamps, said they were fine, the also said they would do the oil change and then I could pick up my car. I picked up the car and paid $80. Two weeks later, I took my car to the dealer for some recall work. As part of the service, they did an inspection of my car. The mechanic told me I needed an oil change, badly. I thought, oh no dealer, you are not gonna fool me! I whipped out my receipt from Kwik Lube and showed them. The mechanic asked me to follow him to the back where my car was. He pulled the dip stick and the oil was so dark and muddy. He then raised the car and exposed the dirty oil filter. I was on my way out of town, so the dealership changed my oil/filter (and gave me a great deal, because they felt so bad for my situation) I immediately contacted Fidel and his technician. His technician told me (via text, so I have proof) that "Of course" they changed my oil. I sent the pictures to both Fidel and Jazz (Tech). Fidel wanted me to bring my car back up to Los Alamos so they could make it right, I could not because of leaving town. He then told me he was going to review his cameras and get to the bottom of it. He also said they use tamper indicators to prove work was done by only them... um, dude, the oil was not changed, nor was the filter, so no, there is no tamper indicator! I've waited over a week for Fidel to resolve this, which would be simply refund the price of the oil change to me, since it never happened. They used to do right by me, but this now makes twice something ridiculous has happened. First screwup was when they stripped my oil plug on my BMW and instead of replacing it, they siliconed the plug-unknown to me until my engine overheated because all the oil leaked after the seal broke from the heat of the engine. A friend fixed that situation for me and warned me not to go back. But, alas, here I am. Fool me once..... I try hard to support local businesses, but this kind of service (or lack of) makes it very hard. read more

I dont know how this got started to say its a car wash. in so far as I know its just a mechanic shop, lube shop and body shop. I dont think there is an associated car wash. Always treated me square as a mechanic and do a good job. I like the folks there and they are straight with me. read more

I waited 50 minutes for a tire rotation after they "forgot" to do it with the oil change as I asked. When I arranged to have my windshield repaired with them and my insurance company, the manager tried to charge me and was agressive ("you'll pay me if you want your car today") when I told him that my insurance told me not to pay out of pocket. When he took a moment to check his paperwork, he told me my keys were in the car. No apology. Oh, this was after I waited an hour for a repair that was supposed to take 20 minutes and they dripped resin all over my windshield, requiring acetone to remove. Will never go back. read more

Do NOT take your car here for an estimate...ever! I dropped off my car for an estimate on new brakes. Was asked by attendant, to sign a form giving them permission to look at the car. Attendant called about 30 minutes later with an estimate that was over $100 more than an estimate I had received from another local mechanic, less that 30 minutes prior to dropping off my car. I told the attendant, that I wasn't interested in having the work done because the quote was so much more than the other I had received. The attendant then informed me that there would be a $53.66 fee for the estimate. I told her that I wasn't going to pay the fee because it was never disclosed to me that estimates were not free of charge. There wasn't a sign posted in the shop, the form I signed didn't have a fee listed and I wasn't verbally told there would be a fee. When I arrived to get my car, I noticed that a steering-wheel lock had been placed on my car. I went inside the auto shop and asked for my car. The attendant stated that the owner had instructed her not to give me my car until I paid the fee. I then called the local police department to get them involved because the attendant had become aggressive and the owner was not on the premises. The police officers suggested I pay the fee and then file a civil claim against the owner of Kwik Lube, Fidel Naranjo. The form I was given by the attendant after I paid the fee, did not have a written estimate for brake replacement. read more

I've done a considerable amount of business with this shop. They've consistently done good work. It pains me to write this, but when I dropped my wife's car off week before last (about 9:30 am), I was told, "about two hours"...(it turned out to be a simple electrical short). The counter lady took my phone number and I left, walking around downtown to kill the time. No phone call. Nothing updating me on the diagnosis, the estimate amount, or time remaining to finish the work. I called Kwik Lube at the end of 2.5 hours, and was told, "We've not pulled your car into the garage yet. Doing it now." Long story short: Five and a half hours, my day pretty much shot. When I said something to the head guy, his response was, "I'm not gonna hurry my mechanics." When I pointed out how long it had taken, no apology of any kind. Ditto telling him how much business I'd done with Kwik Lube over the past three-plus years my wife and I have been on the hilltop. Not so much as a thank you. Just, "You're welcome to take your business somewhere else." I suppose he has a considerable client base. I'll not take either of our cars to Kwik Lube again. I've never been treated this way. If he is swamped with too much business, I'll no longer be a part of his problem. Bottom line: if you're pleasant to people, nine times out of ten they'll walk all over you. Not anymore. We got our battery serviced here. They did not secure it right. Our car kept dying and it cost us three times as much for a real mechanic to diagnose and fix. Gave them another chance and let them rotate our tires. They dropped and dented one of our rims and failed to attach the hubcaps right. Now we have only three. Avoid this place. read more

A quick update on these thieves... During the last oil change, they loosened nuts on the oil pan and the transmission, thereby causing slow leaks. This has now left stain spots in my driveway. Fortunately I caught it before it damaged the engine or transmission. Avoid this business! read more

Acura Integra 97 was making an awful noise. I thought is was a major problem with the exhaust system. They identified it as a $150 job to replace the reverberator (?). Repair only took a few hours and fixed the problem. read more

This place is garbage. DO NOT GO HERE, especially for any work on tires. I went in because I had a tire that was slowly leaking air. They worked on the problematic tire claiming that the tire beading was not right, which apparently means that the tire doesn't correctly sit on the rim. After the repair I go home and notice a loud hissing noise from the tire they just repaired. Sensing something was not right I drive back to the shop. They look at it again and the owner (who is a grade A ******* by the way..more on that juicy story later) comes and tells me that they didn't do the plug right and he had his "mechanic" fix it. I am so confused at this point, because the first time around they never did a plug, all they told me was that the tire bead wasn't sitting right on the rim. So either they did a plug the first time and didn't inform me about it or they never found the puncture the first time and did a plug when I brought it in the second time. Either way their incompetence shines through. After the "fix" I drive back home and notice a bulge on the side of the tire that was never there before. Turns out bulges on the sidewall are bad and can cause a blowout on the highway causing you to lose control of your vehicle. I take the car back in the next day. They look at the tire and tell me the tire is "shot" meaning that it is useless. The mechanic starts showing me the parts they use and how they couldn't have damaged the tire. I ask him one simple question "Was the bulge there when I brought in the tire?". He tells me no it wasn't there or they wouldn't have worked on it. Which clearly tells me that they did something, and/or it happened due to their incompetence when they didn't fix a simple puncture the first time. What bothers me the most is that they claimed to have fixed and then put a faulty tire back on; had I not noticed the bulge right away I could have had a blow out on the highway which could have led to an accident or worse. They knowingly put on a bad tire which they claimed as fixed, thereby jeopardizing my life and safety. The owner/manager could have easily and calmly resolved the situation. However, his attitude as soon as he realized his mistake is was put me off from this place even more. I was talking to him explaining to him what had happened, when he just decides to wall the f*** off back into his shop. I follow him back and he just won't let me speak. Kept repeating that the tire is shot and that we can price out a new tire for you. LOL. That's not the god damn point. I know the tire is shot, the problem is that it was caused due to their incompetence, which they won't acknowledge. I was finally able to speak without him interrupting me repeatedly. After I explain myself, he has the audacity to tell me that "If you are expecting a free tire out of me, forget it". Also, threw in "Do you know anything about tires? I didn't think so" and "You damaged the tire" in his diatribe. Btw, I never asked for a free tire. What should have been a simple $25 repair has now ended up costing me $150 (because I had to buy two new tires). Apparently, it is recommended that tires be changed in pairs. I wouldn't go back here even if they paid me. Read some of the other one star reviews before you go here. There seem to be better rated shops in town that know what they are doing. I took my car there a few weeks ago after the check engine light went on. They called back a few hours later and told me they had a look and a valve needed to be replaced which would cost $700. My car is old and crappy so I decided not to have them do the repair since the car was still driveable. When I went to pick up the car they charged me $90 just for looking at the car. After doing some of my own research on the valve they told me needed to be replaced, I discovered that often this valve just needs to be taken out and cleaned, and not replaced. I was able to do that on my own with help from YouTube videos in less than half an hour (and I have little to no experience with cars). It seems to me that the guys at Kwik Lube just scanned my check engine light and told me I needed a $700 replacement without even looking at the valve... and then on top of that charged me $90 just for the scan of my check engine light! read more

I've been to, and been ripped off at, most of the other shops in Los Alamos (and believe me, i know when i'm being ripped off). Kwik Lube continues to earn my business.
