It's like getting a bushel or huge Blue Crabs but when breaking them open, not a lot of meat inside. Although a lot of inventory, it's not cheap but if you're shopping here, price is not your concern. Most of the plants outside don't have prices in front of you. "If you have to ask, you can't afford it", comes to mind. But I had to twirl the plant around to find the price tag on the base. I'm sure things are different these days thanks to Covid. They used to have a cafe and I'm sure tons more inventory....so I look forward to a few years from now when things hopefully return to normal and I can see this place in its full glory.

Very popular and most of the signage is in English. It's a cash-cow if you think about the need for indoor plants in Amsterdam. I don't really see a lot of other small specialized stores like this. They also serve(d) coffee prior to corona-times. It's worth visiting to get out of the rain next time you're in Oud-West Amsterdam!

And that's just the first thing you notice only just before you notice the ocean of flowers and cleverly placed pots. And I sure love my flowers! After the garden flowers there is a pretty darn big collection of herbs, vegetables, seeds, fruit trees and all kinds of amazing things to grow and eat. Which with my love of food is obviously my favourite part of any garden centre! Sadly I live in an apartment with two small balconies and no garden, but now I have finally found these ingenious stacking pots so I can have all my herbs in one place and still have enough space to wiggle my butt on my balcony: awesomesauce! So, besides all the amazing plants, they also have a small collection of animal supplies, a cute little café and loads of inside and outside decorations. The little café has yummy coffee, snacks and sandwiches that they make on the spot. And this weekend they had a lovely offer going on with their "oranje tompoucen". For those of you who don't know what that is, it's basically a napoleon (puff, custard, puff, icing) and the Dutch love to colour them orange around footy season and also for Queen's day, which is today! Anyway, back to the story... as a cute celebration of our queen before she steps down today, Intratuin had free oranje tompoucen for every customer that came by the café. And since I came here both Saturday and Sunday, I may or may not have scarfed down two of these delicious desserts with the accompaniment of a flavoured cappuccino... Also, I may or may not have spent about 200 euro's here in two days on décor, plants and pots. So that may be the one negative thing here; everything is so amazing that my wallet now already is exhausted from me just thinking about this garden centre. Woops!

Zeer slechte en onprofessionele service in de winkel. Nadat ik initieel geholpen werd bij het…read morevinden van een pannenset en (logischerwijs) navraag deed over de prijs werd mij verteld dat Oldenhof de prijzen hanteert van het merk dat zij verkopen. Nadat ik online de pannenset voor flink goedkoper ben tegengekomen (o.a. Bij Coolblue), vroeg ik of er iets met de prijs gedaan kon worden, het ging immers om een pannenset van bijna duizend euro. Toen dit niet kon (is hun goedrecht natuurlijk), gaf ik aan dat ik dan toch liever online bestel en mijzelf zo flink wat geld bespaar (is mijn goedrecht neem ik aan?). Vervolgens werd ik getrakteerd op een enorm negatieve en aanvallende houding. Mij werd verteld dat het 'niet netjes is' om deze pannen elders aan te schaffen omdat deze mevrouw mij van informatie heeft voorzien. Ik was met stomheid geslagen.. Ik was erg respectvol tegenover deze medewerker, zelfs nadat zij aanschaf dat ik 'het verschuldigd was om de pannen hier te halen', maar kreeg helaas geen respectvolle reactie terug. Blijkbaar ben je bij Oldenhof alleen iets waard als je iets aanschaft en draait het dus niet om service, maar alleen om verkoop. Als marketeer heb ik nog een tip voor deze mevrouw; het voorop stellen van de service en helpen van de klant zal je op de lange termijn 10x meer opleveren dan het vooropstellen van verkoop. Ik kom hier in ieder geval niet terug en zal ook een ieder aanraden om hier geen producten aan te schaffen.
