The husband saw me falter at the sign of bulbs for purchase and rolled his eyes, saying he'd meet me in the lounge and not to buy too much. There was such a selection and lots of varieties I had a hard time choosing. Upon checkout, the clerk noted my American accent and verified I was from the States. Luckily, she caught that I was buying packs not approved for the States and directed me towards some alternatives with the USA seal of approval so they wouldn't get napped at customs. What a save! I would have been heartbroken, and then the husband would have made a scene since the customs officer made his wifey upset. This lady really was nice to save us all that. Stored them in the fridge a few months and put them in the ground once temperatures dropped. I'm pleased to say they are all coming up! Great fresh bulbs! Now, I'm just hoping we don't get a late frost or the husband will have a sad wifey on his hands again..

Without the colorful packaging, the place would be 80% bulbs of different shades of drab brown. Ahhhhhhhhh, but this is just a phase and the color of dormant life waiting to wake up. I like the metaphor of the Tulip and how it applies to our human experience. All of us have a beautiful and colorful core inside patiently waiting for the spark. Gardeners know what the need to do to maintain and nurture the blooming so it is regular and prolific. The also know the importance of going into hibernation. Buy some Tulip bulbs, maybe even some amaryllis, and watch the magic slowly reveal itself.
