While I was in Amsterdam I Googled, "unique shops". The Otherist came up in every list so I had to…read morestop by. I had walked by this shop so many times and ironically, on my first trip to Amsterdam I stayed two doors down from it and never noticed it. I mentioned this to the owner and he said, which I agree, that part of the charm of Amsterdam is there are so many things here that you are constantly stumbling upon amazing shops and more every time you walk down the street. He couldn't be more right. The shop itself is so unique. I knew immediately that I would love it here. The items were cool and not like anything else I'd find while shopping. It's definitely not a tourist shop; it's not a t-shirt or postcard sort of place, but it features really cool home decor items from suspended butterflies to really cool metal displays. I knew immediately I'd find so many things I'd love and couldn't bring back to the states with me because I'd have no room and I was right, but I did find some cool metal keys to bring with me to decorate in my living room. I asked the owner if they had a story to them and he replied, "everything has a story" and that was good enough for me.

Such an amazing store! Definitely one of my favorite in Amsterdam. It's so original and different…read more Its a collection of different finds that are so exotic on their own but they still come together nicely, appearing to fit a certain theme. Exquisite pieces of decor, for sure! They have very "weird" pieces too, and simpler ones. For those who call themselves collectors, you might find something here for you. The displays are carefully curated so you should look carefully to appreciate everything!

Store Without a Home is a fantastic Home Goods shop in Amsterdam that I've visited during each of…read moremy three visits back to Amsterdam in the last three years. You can park your bike across the street in front of the supermarket so that you don't block the sidewalk. Inside, you'll find a variety of modern, minimalist decorations for the home - folding paper animal heads in approachable colors, house-shaped ceramic pieces designed to sit around tealights, hanging containers for air plants, pillows with colorful designs. Most of the items are in-trend and for reasonable prices. When we entered each time, we were greeted and were left to do our own shopping without attendants hovering over us. When we did have questions, the staff spoke English and were happy to help. Store Without a Home is located on the street 'Haarlemmerdijk', which features a number of other home goods and cooking stores nearby. If you're looking for a nice souvenir to bring home that isn't plastered with three red Xs and a picture of a marijuana leaf, or just something to decorate your new Amsterdam home, be sure to pay a visit here.

You can find product by mainly unknown designers (both Dutch and international) and independent brands. From my perspective, the style of represented products is mostly scandinavian, but i bet you can find a piece for any taste. http://www.nansypop.com/lifestyle/store-without-a-home-in-amsterdam/

So many items I wanted to buy, and if I lived there it would definitely be one of my favorite spots. They carry a lot of hip, modern gifts and gadgets-for all ages. I'll definitely be returning when I visit Amsterdam next year.

The range is genuinely impressive -- inexpensive impulse buys, mid‑range souvenirs, and higher‑end pieces all mixed together without feeling chaotic. It's the kind of place where you can walk in with no plan and still find something that feels right. The storefront windows are especially eye‑catching, packed with items arranged almost like a curated gallery. Many of those pieces aren't actually out on the shelves, so if something in the window catches your eye, you'll need an employee to pull it out or give you pricing. It's worth asking, because the window selection includes some of the more unique items they carry. The store itself is a decent size, but it fills up quickly. Tourists with backpacks tend to crowd the aisles, and navigating around them can be a bit of a challenge during busier hours. It's not unbearable, just something to be aware of if you prefer a little breathing room while browsing. Inside, the shop is colorful, tightly arranged, and fun to explore. There's a good balance between Amsterdam‑themed souvenirs and quirky, humorous gifts that don't feel like the usual tourist fare. Staff are friendly and quick to help, especially when you're trying to track down something from the windows or looking for recommendations. Overall, it's a charming stop with a wide variety of items and a more curated feel than most gift shops in the area. Easy to enjoy, and easy to find something to take home.
