This place is so freaking cute it hurts my heart!…read more Unlike other Amsterdam knick knack stores like Pylones or Flying Tiger, Kitsch Kitchen seems to have a) less foot traffic, and b) somewhat of a unifying theme - an obsession with all things Mexico (but...why???). From colorful hand painted ceramic bowls to Dia de los Muertos style figurines, this place has got you covered. Its sections range from stationary to kitchenware to kids stuff to party supplies to furniture - really a dizzying array of things both practical and/or pretty. My favorites have got to be the vintage style posters and drawer liners by the meter - not like I purchased any of these, but looking through these colorful rows or patterns is so much fun! The upstairs is a whole outlet area with discounted stuff, some pretty good bargains to be had! If I ever need a piñata or a painted skull or knockoff Barbie doll clothes or a replica Acapulco chair, I know EXACTLY where to go now!

Luckily I was flying Easy Jet back, or I may have loaded up a trailer or a boat and floated myself back to London on a brightly colored ship with all the doo-dads. ALL OF THEM. Instead I bought a red rooster tape dispenser (10 euros) and a really cute mobile (for a baby boy). I even got 15 percent off the mobile because it was the only one left, and a display model. They offered this without any protestation from me! Great customer service. A very fun shop to pop into. Great to buy a few little things for kids back home, or a statement piece to remind you of the fabulous time you had in Amsterdam. Also, bright umbrellas -- you'll need one here, and in Europe.

Studio Bazar is the place for getting anything you need that has to do with cooking or baking. Whenever I need something, I can get it here. The shop isn't to big, which makes it quite cosy in comparison with a big shop like Duikelman. Also this place has some nice glass wares and other colourful stuff which makes the look of the shop more fun. Usually I go to this place while I am shopping with someone else , and often these other persons aren't that much into cooking and more interested in fashion shops , so I'm usually no longer inside than 5 minutes. Just getting what I need and going again. I really should go to this place alone someday (or with another foodie) so I can you check everything out they sell. :)

I am a cookie cutter fanatic and embossed German cutters became essential the moment I laid eyes on them. Adorable! I purchased several items and the largest (not pictured here) was from a 50% off bin. The saleswoman produced a receipt that seemed high so I studied it. No discount was reflected. Rather than take that amount off my bill, the woman insisted that she couldn't do anything about it. And then... silence. Could she reimburse my card, I asked. "No," she replied... twice, in good English, I might add. I finally had to ask if I could buy something to make up the difference, and purchased another cutter that cost a few cents more than the 6.85€ I should have had coming to me. She didn't offer to cover the difference, and rang up a separate bill. My radar gave me a "new saleswoman who doesn't want to go to the management with an error" vibe. I don't think she was knowingly unscrupulous, but I didn't like how she managed her mistake. Not one bit. Shame on you, darling.

I used to think True Value was small! This place is half the size of the smallest True Value I've ever visited in the USA. You can fit about 200 of these stores into a standard Home Depot in the United States. Now that we are in Corona-times, this place is doing well with distributing items you buy online and pickup at the door. In the Netherlands, we haven't been able to shop in non-essential stores since October (now February). They allow us to order online at hardware stores and pick up since it's somewhat essential if your sink or faucet breaks. I am rambling on, but you get the idea. Although the inventory is limited, thankfully they are open and the employees risk their health to work and provide a service for us when needed.

I mentioned this to the owner and he said, which I agree, that part of the charm of Amsterdam is there are so many things here that you are constantly stumbling upon amazing shops and more every time you walk down the street. He couldn't be more right. The shop itself is so unique. I knew immediately that I would love it here. The items were cool and not like anything else I'd find while shopping. It's definitely not a tourist shop; it's not a t-shirt or postcard sort of place, but it features really cool home decor items from suspended butterflies to really cool metal displays. I knew immediately I'd find so many things I'd love and couldn't bring back to the states with me because I'd have no room and I was right, but I did find some cool metal keys to bring with me to decorate in my living room. I asked the owner if they had a story to them and he replied, "everything has a story" and that was good enough for me.

I went there this afternoon and totally fell in love with their chairs but the prices are crazy. Like over a 1000 euros for one chair..uhhh no. That's just to much. Even if I had more money I don't think I'll ever pay that for one chair. Everything is lovely though. It's nice to visit this place for inspiration even though you know you're not going to buy anything. They do have some cute decorations and glassware that is affordable, although it still is not cheap. Nice extra; Koffie Salon will open soon in the shop so you could have a nice cup of coffee while you drool over all that beautiful unaffordable stuff.

What a cool place this is!…read more I happened upon this place while walking by on holidays in amsterdam. It has everything you'll need and more. From the outside it's a bit a deceptive, looks like a cheap discount store, but oh no, once you walk in, you'll find lots of beautiful products including furniture, kitchen utensils, house appliances, a wide selection of picture frames, storage units, lots of party wear, good selection of food and drinks, all very reasonably priced. It reminded me a bit of small ikea shop! Lots of great accessories for every occasion you could think of. Well worth a visit!

There were plenty of items for interior design, but they weren't really tremendously attractive and mostly for living rooms. There were some unusual food items for sale here, including dried ramen and other random Asian foods. I don't have a ton to say about this place since it was just so "bleh" for me.
