Sometimes you just need a cozy coffee spot where you can slow down, sip something warm, and enjoy a quiet moment--and this little place delivers exactly that. The ambiance is sweet, relaxing, and inviting. It's quiet, clean, and has a charming little setup that feels perfect for a small local coffee shop. I was greeted as soon as I walked in, and they even asked for my name. The young man at the counter was very welcoming and friendly, which made the experience feel a bit more personal. The menu had so many options it was honestly hard to decide. To play it safe, I stuck with my usual go-to: a White Mocha Latte. My drink arrived hot, and they actually bring it out to your table, which was a nice touch. I had to let it cool for a bit while I sat back and read my book. The latte was well made--smooth, not overly sweet, and perfectly balanced. I paid about $6 for a 16 oz, which isn't bad at all. That seems pretty average for a medium-sized coffee these days. Parking was also a breeze. I was able to pull right up front near the door, which made the visit even more convenient. Overall, it's a nice little spot to relax, sip a good cup of coffee, and unwind for a while. Safe to say, if you're looking for a quiet place to enjoy a good latte and a good book, this spot is definitely worth the stop. read more

If I could give this place more than 5 stars I would. I will sit through the traffic on 285 every week just to come back here. This was such a WELL rounded experience. First things first, the place was super cute. Good place to meet with friends, or get some work done. They do have wifi and seated areas that assist with that as well... The staff though??? I felt like I was in someone's house with the home-like hospitality I received. Seriously the folks who work there are sunshine in human form. Especially Star, is she sees this, you are awesome girl!!! Now for the eats/drinks: I ordered the dirty vanilla chai. Never have I ever ordered a chai that didn't need some sort of enhancements like sugar, creamer etc... Ya'll this chai was PERFECTLY made. It needed NOTHING added to it. Ugh just TOO good. My friend and I ordered the breakfast sandwich, she ordered the Vegan version and I ordered the regular one with sausage. We both ordered them on croissants versus the other option of a bagel. It was so so delicious, I almost had to slow myself down from not eating my hands. Anytime I try a new place, of course I'll remember if what I ate was good and my overall experience. But what sticks out the most, is if a place that makes me feel like I should become a regular or not.... and Kuumba has definitely sold me on that. I will be back next week. read more

Let me tell y'all about my new favorite spot in Douglasville: Kuumba Coffee! Not only is this Black-owned gem serving up the most amazing coffee, but they've got smoothies, breakfast, lunch, and even vegan options that will have you coming back for more. I tried their White Chocolate Chai Latte (absolutely delicious ) and the Iced Peach Cobbler Latte (so good it feels like a hug in a cup). For breakfast, I had their Breakfast Sandwich and Cream Cheese Danish and both were fire. Then for lunch, the Turkey Melt with Shrimp & Corn Chowder blew me away, and the Vegan Oxtail was next-level. Who knew vegan could taste this good?! The best part is that it's more than just food and drinks! Kuumba Coffee has this dope, welcoming energy that makes you feel at home. So, if you are in the area, stop by and support this amazing Black-owned business! You won't regret it. read more

Hey ya'll so I went on a coffee hunt, you know I love my coffee, and found convenient street parking in front of Kuumba Coffee!! The Love Latte is what I ordered after hearing the latte description described to the customer in front of me. Creamy smooth oatmilk, dark chocolate, and sea salt, omg what a nice blend. This coffee shop had sooooo many good choices I have good reason to come back! Family owned, selling bags of coffee by Julian Roasters out of Indiana, with a cool cozy coffee cafe vibe. I WILL BE BACK AND MAYBE I'LL SEE YOU AROUND. CIAO read more

I finally stopped by Kuumba Coffee. Apparently I'm late to the party as they've been open a couple years now, but I believe they opened around the time the pandemic started and I don't frequent downtown Douglasville often so probably why I didn't know, but on to the good stuff! This is a black and family owned business that is located in downtown Douglasville and right next door to Gumbeaux's. I've never been inside this building before so I thought it was pretty unique upon entering as it's a small but open space due to the length of the shop. I ended up getting the white chocolate chai latte. I also got a strawberry and cream Frappuccino I believe and a hazelnut latte. The white chocolate chai latte was pretty good. They definitely have a variety of options on their menu so it was a bit overwhelming for me as I literally wanted to try everything lol. They just give me a good reason to go back! The staff was very patient with me though as it took me a while to decide what I was going to order. I definitely have to visit them again to try some of their other menu items. read more

I had to stop myself from going here! It's so freaking good. I love that the staff gives you recommendations on past successful orders for new things you may like. I also love that they are so knowledgeable about coffee. read more

They are really great! The atmosphere is amazing and coffee is always good. My only "complaint" is the amount of time they take to make things. I only say this just to give a helpful comment because otherwise I love them and will keep coming back. However, it really shouldn't take 15 minutes for cream cheese to be put on a toasted bagel. Especially when I'm the only person there. This is an occurring issue. That's all, but overall this is a black owned business everyone should support! read more

First time in downtown Douglasville, and certainly not my last! Stumbled upon this awesome local coffee shop and was pleasantly surprised by the large food and beverage menu they offer. I went with the green smoothie with almond milk and it was so refreshing and very filling. I wanted some healthy protein to fill my rumbling tummy, so I also ordered the avocado toast and was blown away from the very first bite. I did opt to leave off the balsamic glaze and I'm so glad I did because to me, balsamic just overpowers all other flavors. Husband got a black cold brew (he's a simple man when it comes to coffee), and he was very pleased with the flavor and richness of the coffee. Plenty of seating is available, and service was fantastic. I'm not sure if the owner or manager came over to our table, but she was so kind and made sure we got everything we ordered and that we were happy with our purchases. I will definitely be back for another visit next time I'm in the area! read more

I really wanted to give this place 5 stars, but their hours of business hold me back. Kuumba has a great product line, which includes a full range of lattes, coffees, teas, and a modest food menu. The hours of business, however, make no sense for a coffee shop. Coffee shops, in my opinion should open no later than 7am. To open at 10am on a Saturday screams, we don't really want or need to do business. I can handle being closed on Sunday, but Mondays too?!? There have been times that I've dropped by and they were closed when they were supposed to be open. I just don't get it. read more

I decided to come by on a Saturday morning for a quick breakfast. They were hosting an event for Christmas toy donations - I wish I had know before I got there, I would've stopped and grab something. Anywho, I was very happy with my Cinnamon Roll Latte, and my breakfast sandwich. They are very friendly here. It took a while for my order to come out, but they were busy so I guess it was to be expected. I'll def make this my go-to when I'm in the mood for something different outside of Starbucks. You can literally bring your laptop and listen to the music while your getting some work done! read more

Today was my first time visiting Kuumba Coffee and it was very nice. I liked the laid back vibe and the music that was playing. The breakfast sandwich and Caramel Macchiato that I had was delicious. Stopped here just a while, exploring the local town. I was really excited to try this place because of the name and their message. However I was disappointed. Customer service was little to be desired; the consistency of the products also lacked flavor as well as quality. We tried the green smoothie and it was quite plain in flavor. From a visitors perspective & frequent coffee shop goer; unfortunately I do not recommend this coffee establishment . read more

I am in LOVE with Kuumba! I'm not much of a coffee drinker, but I take a walk through downtown every day for exercise, and by the end of it, I'm super hungry! Enter Kuumba, with their delicious soups and croissants, as well as refreshing drinks. Both times I've gone to Kuumba, I've gotten their shrimp corn chowder, which is absolutely divine. The second time, I decided to branch out and get their raspberry hibiscus lemonade which is soooo tasty and light! I've got my loyalty card now and I WILL be back? Oh, and bonus points for being black owned! read more

If I lived closer, this coffee shop would be my go to if I want local coffee. I'm rarely in D'ville and randomly found Kuumba on Google a while ago. Drove nearly 30 miles to come here. Crazy right? Well it's Saturday, so why not. Had no idea what to get until I saw the big menu on the side. Peach cobbler latte!? Yes, let me get one iced. With oat milk. And yes, it was awesome! A little sugary, but hey. Whatever. I loved it! Definitely stop here if you happen to be in Douglasville. read more

Loved this place so much! Scoped it out for when I was on a work trip last week in Douglasville and it did not disappoint! Heavily exceeded my expectations. I got the iced mocha latte. Iced mocha drinks are often extremely sweet and just taste like sugary milk (because thats what the starbucks and dunkin demographic has forced them to do), but it had just the perfect sweetness to be able to taste and enjoy the coffee underneath. I cant wait to go back and try some of their other drinks. read more
