We started with the Selection of dips (4 in all) and they were very well made, served with Pita Bread and chargrill toasted French stick, that worked very well. Then we had some mains. The menu is not large by any means. but there is something to suit almost all tastes. It's one of those a few WELL Made dishes rather than a mass of average. I had the Pork Belly and Scallop dish.. it was so tasty. light, fresh, meaty

I have been to Woodstock on several occasions and the most recent was for the wedding of two very good friends. I have spent a great deal of my professional life organising functions - weddings being the most high pressure of these events (even the meekest girl has the ability to turn into a raging bridezilla) and I was absolutely floored with the organisation, affability and professionalism of Zak the restaurant manager and the woodstock crew. We had an alternate drop menu, chosen by the bride and groom. Every dish was delicious and maintained a very good standard (not quite as good as their unique, rustic a la carte menu, but it's impossible to acheive the same level of finish en masse). The restaurant at woodstock is called Coterie and is in the unique semi circular building where the reception was held. The space features an open fire in the middle of the inner wall. On Friday evenings they do a pizza night, nom, nom, sundays they have live jazz and there are Llamas over the back fence! Great novelty factor. I would not hesitate to recommend woodstock as a must-do Mclaren Vale destination. If you're into rose - the Grenache rose is one of the best Reds - The stocks Shiraz is a boys fave my pick may be the Octogenarian, grenache tempranillo

And we traveled so far to get there. This would be the managers faults since he said "...the best I can do for you". And the manage Derrick asked if I wanted to tip when I was paying (Embarrassing for the restaurant that they have to ask); I felt we deserved better than that. For those that doesn't know the Aussie culture, we do not tip in Australia as locals. The minimum wages starts off really high, whereas, the wages as a wait staff in USA is low therefore we tip if the service was excellent. I've been around Australia since Feb 2014 so I KNOW this. Excellent service deserves a tip. A tip is NOT earned by asking for it..... ANYWHERE in the world. The service and food was excellent. I will post a YouTube Food & Travel review about this establishment soon to come.

Unfortunately, and perhaps this was partly due to the raving reviews and reputation of the restaurant I had grown to understand, my experience here fell short of my expectations. The food was for the most part delicious however the menu itself is very standard traditional fine dining. Signature steak and red meat for the most part with a few fish dishes and even less vegetarian options. We ordered the house made gnocchi for entree. Unfortunately it lacked the melt in your mouth aspect I was expecting from freshly made gnocchi. For mains we ordered the wagyu corned beef brisket which was absolutely delicious. Cooked to perfection. It was fairly salty though and had a rich sauce. The Lamb rump shoulder unfortunately was a bit on the over-well-done side. Sides ordered were the Korean fried Broccoli and sweet potato. We loved both dishes although everything was deep fried and it became a bit much. It would have been nice to accompany our rich mains with sides that were fresh to break it up. For dessert we chose the popular Chocolate Melange for two - the signature board of mini desserts. This was amazing. Word of warning, we were in struggle town by this point - but you are able to opt to take away what you can't finish. Good service is extremely important to me, and this was the down side. For an expensive fine dining restaurant with so many staff, our wait times were terrible. We were not checked upon and particularly between dinner and dessert, we waited almost an hour. It took a few reminders for our dessert to finally come. And after eventually giving up and asking for the bill, it came. Our waitress offered another round of drinks on the house but by that point we were bursting from eating so much that we couldn't possibly fit anything else in. It would have been appreciated if we were offered the dessert on the house instead and we were extremely dissatisfied with their failure to compensate for their overlook in service. Overall the food was enjoyable but it wasn't the best and I've enjoyed better food at more reasonable prices elsewhere. For the steep outlay and reputation they pride themselves on I expected a much higher level of service and taste across the board.

I wouldn't necessarily call it classy, but it has an atmosphere of being a place for semi-special occassions. Mind you, it is pretty popular, and a little pricier than what you would expect.

As the trend for pubs which look like fancy bars and fancier restaurants continues, its nice to walk into a pub with a solid wooden bar, well worn chesterfields in the front bar and fairly simple wooden tables in the restaurant expect the traditional as well; chicken schnittys, fish and chips - the works. The Duck Inn also has a great range of beers and ciders. Adelaide Hills cider has been on tap here since you could tap their kegs and their local range is superb for a small pub. Like most pubs, the Duck Inn does have pokies, but you can't hear them in the restaurant and the noise level in the bar is minimal. I'd opt for the Duck Inn on a lazy day and to sit in the Front bar next to the fire on the big couches with some beer and chips and spend your day doing not quite a lot.

My friend suggested that there wasn't all that much in Goolwa, so we decided to go and visit the pub (though as it turns out there is more than just a tired old town at the end of the line). Anyway, unlike some of the other pubs that we visited this one is just your stock standard country pub with your stock standard beers on tap - nothing really all that fancy in style or substance. I guess that may have something to do with Goolwa not drawing anywhere near as many tourists as some of the other towns along the south coast. As for the pub, well, as I mentioned, it wasn't anything special, just a stock standard country pub, though you don't tend to feel as out of place as you would at other places (and the bar tender is nowhere near as talkative).

They have two sittings for meals on Saturday evening @ 6..pm and 8.00pm, we booked in for the 6.00pm sitting. Not having eaten there before I was expecting the run of the meal Pub Grub, Boy was I wrong! I ordered Boston Bay Mussels with Tomato, Bacon and Chilli and I was truly surprised by the size of the crock pot with no less the 47 Mussels cooked to perfection(yes I counted them), my taste buds exploded with the combination of flavours that this meal contained. These Mussels are definitely on my list for the next time I return to the Corio. My wife Decided on the Lamb Shanks on a bed of Creamed mash potato, fortunately she decided to just have just the single serve (Entree size) for the meal was more the enough to fill one's hungry stomach. Again cooked to perfection. The 3 Children (Adults ) thought they would each have a schnitzel, which were so large they covered the plates and each one of them could not finish. All in all a great meal was had by all, the only fault that I could find was the variety in the salad and veggie bar, which was average, But this did not take anything away from our meals, of course it was a bit noisy in the dining room, but It was a Pub on a Saturday night! A highly recommended Country Pub, with a flair for serving up something different and delicious. But do book to avoid disappointment.

I now know why service with more than just a smile can have even more meaning than great food and a cool environment. Our waitress, Lani, was so passionate and having so much fun in her job that we were convinced she was the owner of the place! She was not shy in sharing her opinion of the wine we should be drinking nor of having a chat in between serving others, we walked out feeling like a regular of the place - still bubbling from the friendliness and genuine concern for ensuring we had a good time. But I also can't go past the food. Here are 3 key finger lickingly good tips for you when dining for dinner here: - Sharing is caring and worth it for anyone on a budget or who gets food envy (yours truly). But don't feel limited to the Bar/Share menu, you can share the pizza, the mains the smaller plates and you'll be full from 4-5 dishes between 2! - If you like unusual flavour combinations, that is still accessible to the normal palette (ie. not offal) this is the place for you. Gin and beetroot cured salmon or Fig & Proscuitto Pizza, even the mushroom stuffed baby squid all were such simple concoctions but so well flavoured. - Get there at sunset, it is really well enclosed on the balcony outside and if you have a coat in winter you could easily sit outside and watch the beautiful sunset over Semaphore beach + score 100 romance points too! Like a kid in a candy shop who just found the best sweets tucked away in the back of the shop, I am still hyped up about Lickerish and can't wait to save up my pennies till my next visit with friends.
