When we get to Kush and my team designs their sandwiches from the ground up; gourmet vegetables, felafel, chicken, greens. Having already eaten, I decide not to have anything, but a quick query from the cute sandwich hand, "How about a coffee?" immediately changes my mind. I ask for a mug.
We take a seat toward the back of the cafe away from the ever busy Military road, and plonk ourselves down on their black leather ottomans. There are six in our group today, and the largest table is designed for four, so we block off a walkway between the counter and the bathrooms, which isn't so bad as it sounds.
The mug of coffee arrives and it's gigantic. It is at least three coffees in the one mug. Is it a mug or is it a jug? A Juggocino. Chorlte. Chortle. Chortle.
The counter staff are very friendly and accommodating and there's a good vibe in this place. It's clean, simple and welcoming.
A man who, through his knowledge of the staff there, must be a regular and/or a local, approaches us, spotting that we're some kind of film crew and immediately asks us for a role in whatever we're shooting. He then proceeds to demand a photo with us and accuses us of being the Jonas Brothers. We pose, the young girl takes the photographs and we continue with our lunch.
I like this place. If I'm Neutral Bay again I will have to return. The coffee was delicious and at a very reasonable price, especially when you take into account the sheer size of the thing. The back wall is painted a rich orange, which as I've mentioned before, inspires creativity. Hooray for orange. read more
