She at least doesn't shame you for choosing alternative healthcare for yourself. And she genuinely concerns herself with your overall wellbeing, which is pretty cool. I love that she takes very detailed notes and remembers things you've discussed the previous year. Her office has all the stuff right there onsite should you need an ultrasound or whatever, saves a trip. A couple of times I've had to wait way too long for my appointment because she was delivering a baby, or having a sandwich or something, but she's worth the wait. The most important thing to me is it honestly doesn't even seem like a doctor's visit. It just feels like catching up with an old friend. Except of course when she starts feeling your breasts and checking out your girly parts. I'm a fan. And I have a couple friends who see other docs in the clinic and they seem just as happy.

I'd initially been interested in a home/water birth but my husband wasn't on board since this would be our first baby. I knew i didn't want a hospital birth, it all just seemed so sterile and mechanized plus i've never been a fan of actual hospital facilities, they always invoked feelings of despair in me. So i started looking to see if there was a happy medium. Initially i'd learned about birth centers from Instagram but since i'd recently moved to MN i wasn't sure there were any around me. A few more months into my pregnancy, i decided to look up birth centers on Yelp (as a new resident, Yelp was my lifeline to finding anything in Minneapolis). Roots Birth Center came up but it said "unclaimed" so i figured it probably didn't exist or used to exist but had been closed down. By then i was having hip issues (around 36 week) so i went to a chiropractor and while getting adjusted she asked where i'd be delivering. I told her we were currently registered at Mercy Mother and Child but i'd have preferred a birthing center since i really wanted a water birth. She then mentioned Roots and told me she'd heard really good things about it and i just knew that was my confirmation!!! I googled Roots, found the address and Hubby and i scheduled an appointment. Luckily they were able to take me on as i think the cutoff for admission was 37 weeks (the universe works in amazing ways). We were thrilled to find out Roots was covered by our insurance too; we registered for classes - childbirthing, cloth diapering, breastfeeding/lactation, classes for partners/support people etc (which were tremendously cheaper than Amma). We got a tour, so i got to check out where i'd be delivering, all hubby's questions were answered and he felt reassured that we had nothing to worry about (plus Roots collaborates with North Memorial Hospital which was like 10mins away should there be a need to transfer to a hospital - which ended up being our case). My widwives got to know me personally, we felt so comfy and at home during check ups, met other couples and bonded during classes. My delivery story is one for the books lol. Water broke, we came into Roots and i started laboring in the water (100% recommend for anyone on the fence about water births, contractions are a lot more tolerable in the water); unfortunately my lil guy was quite comfy in the belly and i wasn't dilating much. My midwife and doula were tremendous in keeping me comfy and trying different approaches, i walked, did stairs, bounced on the medicine ball, tried different positions etc. Eventually labor started to progress but still not dilating much but then baby's heart rate started to drop and after about 10mins my midwife thought it best to call for an ambulance. Ambulance came, we got in and headed to the hospital; My midwife and doula met us as the hospital, informed the doctor of my birth plans and were with me throughout till my little guy arrived. My widwife was actually the one who came up with using the towel tug o war method to help me deliver after everything else had failed and the doctors were pushing for an epidural (which i didn't want). After 40+ hours of labor, i was overjoyed to be holding our baby and blessed to have been able to do it as i'd planned in my birth plan, with a few tweaks here and there lol; all thanks to my midwives and doula who were my advocates and backed up everything my husband and i asked for. Second baby is on the way and you already know which birthing center we'll be going back to!

I sent them a message and they responded to me right away - literally within 5/10 minutes via text. I submitted the recommended paper work and even had a quick phone consult with the nursing staff. With that said, operationally they are on top of it and do a great job of communicating and filtering questions appropriately. What I especially appreciate about Twin Cities IV is their ability to accommodate to their clients. I was connected with Nurse Stephanie, and she was able to schedule my mom's IV treatment for the same day as sign up AND they travel to their clients homes, so she was able to come to my mom's home and administer the IV treatment - which was fantastic. Several other companies I checked in with were booked out about a week and prices were much higher. I liked the fact that my mom could get treatment in her home on her schedule with the same nurse each time. Nurse Stephanie provided my mom with her contact information and was great at communicating. She did her best at getting us in for treatments on short notice and was very accommodating to my mom when providing treatment. From quality, to price, ease of access and communication I rate Twin Cities IV a 10/10 and would recommend to anyone looking for added health and wellness benefits via IV all from the comfort of their home!

From start to finish, I had an excellent experience with Twin Cities IV…read more I submitted an appointment request online, and the dispatcher texted me within minutes to let me know that she was contacting one of their nurses, and then let me know that the nurse would be able to do the appointment at the requested time - just under three hours from when I scheduled. Impressive! My nurse, Tressa, was incredible. She let me know she was going to be a little late because of another appointment, and proactively offered a free Add In as compensation. When she arrived, she was fast and so sweet and helpful. She explained what was in the bag, and added another anti-nausea med. She was also great about explaining how long things might take to kick in. Pricing was great, especially when compared to other options or an ER wait. I took a nap after the appointment and felt so much better when I woke up. 5 star experience, easily!

Dr. Whitehill has been our pediatrician from the birth of my first child to still today this day…read morealmost 8 years later. She was my biggest support as a new mom and continues to be who I trust the most with my children. She takes a level headed approach to treating, she takes her time with making a proper diagnosis to be sure you get exactly what you need. She is also incredibly supportive to parents. Only one time did I disagree and it was respectful on both ends. I appreciate the great care she gives not only to her patients, my kids but also to me as a parent!!

One thing she said that stuck with me the most was preparing to have the baby. When your in the room with all the nurses and doctors, most times they encourage their beliefs etc. Jennifer empowered me to speak out and inform the doctors of what I want and how it should be done. Jennifer has great practices. She encouraged me to get my placenta encapsulated ( she also gave me connections to get them encapsulated at a reasonable price) she came to visit me again a week after having my new born. Great advice on breastfeeding (life saver, lol). Jennifer gave me healthy breast milk in case my milk didn't come in in a timely manner. Healing after birth can be a pain, she informed me about this bathing substance that goes into the bath water called ( after birth, in which she gave me! ). Going through postpartum depression is definitely hard to go through alone. Jennifer was there when I called or texted at 2am or 4am lol. Being a new mom, breastfeeding, recovering from having the baby is not easy doing it alone! I'm am so grateful to have had her by my side the entire ride! Thank you Jennifer!!!!!
