Love Boat: 16pcs sashimi, 12pcs sushi, 1 dragon roll and 1 tuna roll. $69. Soooo good.
Erik E.

With the ever growing sushi trend, plus how few restaurants are investing in Waukesha, my hopes were not high for Kumi. Have to say, I was wrong. Kumi is an excellent addition to downtown Waukesha. Stopped in on a Saturday night with no reservations. My group of two was sat within 5 minutes. The interior has been beautifully remodeled, with unique lighting and Asian design accents, transforming it from the former coffee shop space that it has been over the years. Service is extremely friendly and fast. After we ordered our drinks and were quickly served, we were ready to order our food. We decided to sample a little bit of everything, by ordering the Kumi Love Boat. Included was 16 pcs sashimi, 12 pcs sushi, 1 dragon roll & 1 tuna roll. When it was delivered, we were impressed. The boat is so elegant, the sushi is thick cut and melts in your mouth. Absolutely no complaints. It was so delicious, I ended up coming here a second time with a different guest and ordered the same thing. Still cut to perfection and utterly perfect. I highly recommend Kumi.

Food is fresh and tasty. We were craving fish and this was exactly the right spot. Service was exactly long that the food needed to be. We had a window seat and the view of the street was a vibe.

DELICIOUS sushi. Have loved every roll I've tried and the menu has excellent variety. Super nice ambience with a variety of places to sit. Always very friendly.

An awesome experience tonight at Kumi! We used to frequent this place back when it was a coffee shop and then heard it was on your new ownership and that this restaurant had been established. It is beautiful in here, it's amazing to see what they did design wise to the interior and really transformed it into a higher end sushi stop. We came together as a family, and the service was very friendly and accommodating. The food was also fantastic! I ordered the fire phoenix roll and I highly recommend it, it's the perfect balance of sweet, spicy, and savory. I will be coming back here regularly literally just for this roll. So happy Waukesha has this spot on the main strip!

Welcome to the neighborhood, Kumi! I've worked in the area for a long time and our favorite sushi restaurant closed in recent years. We were so looking forward to trying Kumi and they lived up to the high expectations! I took my friend here for her birthday lunch. We both ordered sushi lunch specials. The space is clean, bright, and inviting. Service was kind and fast. Price was very reasonable and the sushi was very fresh. And they were able to get us in and out within our lunch hour. Looking forward to coming back very soon and trying ramen or a poke bowl!

New place. We will be back. Friendly staff and fresh food! My daughter and I eat sushi pretty regularly and it's nice to find a new place close to home. We enjoyed the ambience, the service and the food.

Stopped in around 6pm on a Thursday. Not busy but, its was starting to. The place looked very clean and inviting. We were seated in the large back dining room which had a modern Japanese style. We passed the sushi bar on the way which looked great. Our server was friendly and helpful. I had the Ramen with the Tonkatsu Broth and Chashu and a Soft Boiled egg. The broth was very tasty. I the egg seemed to be soaked in soy marinade with a velvet yoke. Delicious. My partner had salmon sashimi. She said everything was very fresh and delicious. So glad to have a great Japanese restaurant in Waukesha.

It was SO delicious, the atmosphere & decor was cool & the service was great! There's a couple different seating areas & an outdoor patio. They have a nice variety of food besides sushi so it has something for everyone. We recommend you giving it a try

I really liked this place I was impressed with the sushi. I had vegetable gyoza which was steamed then grilled which gave it a light flavor I enjoyed. The actual dumpling filling was also more flavorful than most places. Sake was enjoyable. The sushi also tasted great.

As a sushi lover, Kumi is a fabulous authentic Sushi restaurant in quaint downtown Waukesha. The ambiance is clean, quiet and offer a Zen atmosphere. Service was top notch. Highly recommended.

Chicken Katsu Lunch Box, Chicken Hibachi Lunch, Clear Mushroom soup, Salad, and Melon Japanese soda

Significantly exceeded our expectations! Service was amazing, food was phenomenal, atmosphere is classy but casual. Tons of variety as far as dishes go and extremely well priced. I got their lunch box deal it was only 14.50! Will certainly be back!

Mom's Kitchen is such a charming and cozy little spot. The restaurant felt open, spacious, and welcoming, and the staff was incredibly friendly. We came in for an early Wednesday evening dinner and were seated right away. Definitely one of the perks of beating the dinner rush! They have a pretty extensive menu along with a signature menu, so naturally, we had to order enough food to turn the table into our own little buffet. We ordered: - Korean Wings - Crispy, flavorful, and a great way to start the meal. - Chive Dumplings - These were interesting! They reminded me more of a soft, doughy Korean style pancake than a traditional dumpling. Not necessarily my favorite dish of the night, and I could have done without it - Salt & Pepper Chicken - THE WINNER! This was easily our favorite dish. Crispy, savory, seasoned perfectly, and something I would absolutely order again. - Shrimp Pineapple Fried Rice - It was good! It had a slight curry flavor that I personally liked. My guest was about 50/50 on the curry flavor. The rice was a bit dry and could use a bit more savory taste. - Duck Pad Thai - Probably the lightest dish flavor wise. I personally would have preferred a little more sauce and a stronger marinade on the duck, but that's also personal preference. The duck itself was a nice change from your typical chicken, beef, pork or shrimp Pad Thai. The noodles were also a bit dry. A bit disappointed with this signature dish. One thing I really appreciated was the portion size. They are very generous here, so you definitely feel like you're getting your money's worth. We ordered quite the spread and had plenty of food to enjoy and had to take home. Not every dish is going to be everyone's favorite, especially with such a large and diverse menu, but that's actually one of the reasons I'd come back. There are SO MANY other dishes I still want to try! Overall, Mom's Kitchen was a good find in Pewaukee. Between the cozy atmosphere, friendly service, generous portions, and huge selection of dishes, I think it's absolutely worth checking out, especially if you enjoy Thai and Asian fusion cuisine. I'd definitely return the next time I'm in town. The Salt & Pepper Chicken is definitely on my list for a 2nd order . Also, I always order a Thai curry and this time I didn't. So next time it's on my table for sure.

Unfortunately, the dish lacked flavor and I ended up adding soy sauce and hot sauce at home to give it some life. I like a little spice on my Thai food, but not too much and I did not realize that the mild spice level was pretty much a zero spice level so next time I will pick medium. I loved the light cook on the vegetables and how crunchy they were. The staff was very friendly and the inside of the restaurant was beautiful. I went there a different time and got their sashimi flight and a salmon avocado hand roll. I moved here from Vegas so I'm very picky about sushi and seafood in general. This has been one of the best sushi places in Wisconsin for me so far! The fish was high quality, extremely fresh and definitely superior to the other sushi places I have tried out here. Even though the drunken noodle I had was lacking, I definitely want to go back and would love to give some of their other Thai items because they look really good. And I will 100% go back for the sushi!!

The edamame was plentiful but very salty for my taste (my husband loves things extra salty so this was perfect for him). The cucumber roll was one of the best we've had (yes, could we be any more basic? Husband doesn't eat fish.) The broccoli beef arrived cold; we sent it back for a quick warm up and it came back fine. The ma po tofu was different than any I've had before. There was an off taste to the sauce, to me, that was off putting. There was very little pork or veg in the dish. I didn't care for it enough that I didn't bother to bring the leftovers home. I had the fried rice on the side and it was nearly flavorless. Our server was attentive in all the right ways. The portions were large for the price but I'm not sure we will be back again. I'd come to try the sushi (I saw some delicious looking rolls go by the table) but I'll have to find someone else to go with since fish is a nonstarter for my husband.

The restaurant features a menu highlighting Mandarin influences, Thai, and Japanese, along with a sushi bar and hibachi tables. There's guaranteed to be something for everyone on this menu. We come for the sushi. They always have the freshest fish - Tuna, Salmon, Sea Urchin, Surf Clam, Eel, Sweet Shrimp, Abolone - you name it, they serve it. The sushi is available as sashimi style, maki roll, or there is a giant menu of different rolls and sauces to choose from. My wife loves the Sunshine Roll (tempura Lobster), and my daughter loves the plain tuna roll. I dig the Angry Spider Roll or a Volcano Roll. Crispy oysters are hearty, with a plum dipping sauce. I honestly haven't had anything I wouldn't try again! The sushi appetizer menu itself has a collection of unique presentations that have all been amazing! Before she braved the sushi my daughter often ordered off the menu, her choices ranging from chicken tempura to the Sesame Chicken or Lo mein, and always tasty with large portions. I was happy to finish later what she could not, lol. Service is good, sometimes the weekend nights get a little hectic but they make mean drinks! Get the Zombie rum mixer, it'll get ya there. My daughter always enjoys the Japanese soda they offer, nice little treat. Saki of course and Sapporo beer, there's not much you could ask for they don't have! Great place. Parking usually not an issue as much as navigating through the lot during peak periods for what it's worth.

I got the Big Boy Platter (three each of crab rangoon, pork potstickers, and spring rolls) and the orange chicken with half rice, half noodles. The apps all tasted like they were from a frozen bag instead of being freshly made. The cream cheese inside the crab rangoon was runny and the mixture inside the spring rolls was mushy. The potstickers were probably the best of the three, but more because the other two were disappointing than anything excellent about the potstickers. The orange chicken was ok. I don't think it had enough breading on it, so it wasn't crunchy, and the chicken itself was on the dry side. I appreciated the onion and carrot that was mixed in with the chicken though. Neither the rice or noodles had anything mixed in with them like peas or carrots with the rice or onions for the noodles. They were certainly edible, but not exciting and I wouldn't recommend paying extra for the noodles based on this.
