Anita, the receptionist is the first face you see and you can't wash your eyes of her attitude. She makes people feel little. I have a graduate degree and am well-traveled and still she made me feel stupid and uninformed. I felt worse for an older Haitian woman who repeated her question to Anita only for Anita to repeat, "Have a seat and wait for your name to be called." There is no hospitality and no respect for people's levels understanding. If you continue to try to get an understanding of how the office works, she will result to ignoring you. I have nothing bad to say about Dr. Cary Daniel himself, other than he's made bad decisions in having staff like Anita. The office manager, Monique, is no better. I asked Anita to refund my co-payment and instead of Anita saying, "One moment, I'll call the manager," she simply picked up the phone made an announcement for Monique to come to the front and continued to type on the computer - no acknowledgement for me. Monique arrived and didn't ask me to explain the situation or anything. She didn't care that a patient was upset with the service or anything. Like a robot, she simply asked, "What is your phone number?" Anita continued to mumble under her breath and no one told her to stop. There is no professionalism. I wanted to see this doctor because he is a Black man and many have recommended him. But to get to him, I will not go through disrespectful, unprofessional and unhappy staff.

I came here to receive treatment for a workers' comp-related injury. The staff was always patient and attentive. They connected me with their specialists and supported me as I worked to get stronger through physical therapy. For pain management, I saw Dr. Johnston. He reviewed my charts (x-rays, MRIs, diagnostic testing), listened to my concerns, and made clear, actionable plans to alleviate my pain so that i could get the treatment needed. The staff was very experienced; they handled my paperwork quickly, scheduled me with the appropriate doctors, and worked with my insurance, so that I could get the care I needed. I'm grateful for their help and thank them for supporting my recovery, as I never felt judged for my abilities.

I decided to choose this place for physical therapy for a different injury based on how my first experience was. Although you may have a referral for services, you must see a doctor first. It can be crowded to see a doctor and they have two doctors assigned to this location. However, they move quickly so you're not sitting here all day. The physical therapists are always friendly and helpful. However, some of front desk reception can use a class on customer service 101. There have been times when I've greeted them and no one replied. I just sign in when I come now and don't speak which isn't like me but I don't like to be ignored. Nonetheless, I love this place and I'll continue to come here when I need physical therapy.

Additionally, the majority of my mom's doctors are at HSS and Weill Cornell in Manhattan but I wanted a third backup place close to her home. Thus, I researched places that could provide necessary checkups on her: overall health, blood pressure maintenance, bloodwork and hopefully obtain a solid aide that can monitor her weekly. Getting an appointment with this location was a bit challenging: I called in January and was told no availability until April. I spoke to a rep, Kimberly, and asked to be put on a cancellation list. In February, Kimberly called to state there was a cancellation and I made the appointment for March 20th. My sister and I visited Oak prior to appointment and were pretty impressed with the premises. The first appointment is to get to know my mom, her health history, check her vitals and make a second appointment for next month. The visit was extremely thorough, professional and all staff members were genuinely nice. Special recognition to Regina, first point of welcoming committee, who explained the Oak Street Health process. Shamba who took my mom's vitals and asked questions regarding her activity, any recent falls, etc Lastly we met with Dr. Charmaine Gonzalez, PCP who reviewed my mom's current medication, health issues and took the time to get to know my mom. Additional, Kimberly who communicated consistently to lmk she was keeping an eye on cancellations. Lastly, my mom was extremely happy with the services received and that's the most important for me. This is a sigh of relief for me and look forward to the next appointment with mom.

My mother could not remember the details of the message so she asked for the location of Oak St Health. The rep repeatedly gave vague answers like "in Canarsie" when asked for the address and side streets. When my mother said she'd call back to discuss the message, the rep insisted she answer her now so they wouldn't have to keep calling. She was angrily screaming at an elderly woman who struggled to remember details of an interaction. I intervened and told her that she was unprofessional and she hung up immediately. if I could rate lower I would. You would think a person who works for a health care provider would be trained better. No respect or empathy.

Of all the female doctors I've had for 20 years, nobody thought about doing anything about it, except for ONE nurse practitioner. This doctor ranks among Brooklyn's most mediocre doctors. Her demeanor is TEPID.
