Kublai Khan Mongolian Stir Fry & Sushi

My son and I stopped in here after our movie. We both love the build your own bowles. They also have some of the best Egg rolls. The place itself was very clean, and the service was good. Don't come here if you're expecting a quiet meal though. It's always pretty loud. They do have a nice bar set up. And for the build your own bowls, you can cook them yourself if that's what you like to do. I have gotten their sushi before. It's also very good. If you've never been here and you like sushi and Mongolian style food, I highly recommend it.

The service was Great ! My waiter Greeted us with a smile and ambiance was very laid back. The food was very good ! Every sauce and seasoning I pick for my bowl was executed to prefection! Every bite was full of flavor ! The only problem i had was were you pick your meats for the bowl was all over the place . I know they were very busy so they could not get to it right at the moment . Now we as the people need to do better with putting the meat and veggies in the bowl properly. Will I try this place again, absolutely! Thank you for wonderful experience and see you soon .

Eggrolls

This is my favorite sushi spot but these eggrolls were not it! So disappointed that they felt this was a good representation of their food. Burnt and old eggrolls in my takeout order.

Explorer Roll

Delicious, affordable sushi!!! Our explorer roll was super spicy and full of flavor (next time I'd say light spicy mayo). Fried rice was fresh from the grill. Nigiri was great and so was ginger salad. Everything was well priced, very cheap. Service was great. Ambiance was great for watching a baseball game or chill Sunday night. Great spot for a quick dinner too.

This was my first time here. The restaurant was pretty packed. You're seated by an attendant and if you order a bowl, they bring you a metal bowl. You head up to the counter and fill up your bowl with all your meats and veggies. I got crab, squid, steak, and broccoli. You fill up cups with your seasonings and sauce. Then you head up the chef and he asks what base you want, I chose udon. They give you a number and you head back to the table. The prices were pretty good for the amount of food. I really enjoyed it, and I will be back.

If you want some really good fresh crawfish sushi rolls, the best ever hands down. Love these always made fresh to order overflowing with Crawfish! Also, had friend rice it was so delicious! Kudos to the bartender drinks 12 out of 10 that's how good they were. I give four stars cause it's definitely time for an upgrade in the lobby area. Our server was pleasant and attentive . It's a must try the offer so much, however the sushi and fried rice are my favorites

Spicy Beef , chicken, sausage and noodles
John G.

The food was delicious, I had a very good culinary experience, the hibachi beef and chicken along with a few slices of sausage. some of the hot curry powders and chili powder and along with the noodles, were cooked to perfect perfection and we're absolutely delicious. The portions were a bit small but the flavor kinda made up quantity. I would 100% go back next time I'm in town. I tried them in the past and I put waaaaay too much spice on the food and wrecked the experience. That is on me. This time I went with the thought that a little spice goes a long way. It was delicious. The waitress spoke to me more when I cached out than she did the whole time I was there.

My husband just got his haircut and my son was hungry. Kublai was just around the corner so we tried it for the first time. When we arrived we were seated right away. Our server came by shortly after and we let her know we were first timers. She explained the process, took our drink and appetizer orders, and brought us our bowls. As we go to the counter the options they have were a lot. My son just wanted chicken, I got shrimp and beef and my husband got shrimp, beef and pork. The next section was the veggies which they had a lot to choose from too. Then you have your seasoning and sauce area. Once you get to the end counter you place your bowl and sauce cups on a tray and let them know what kind of noodles you want. When we got to the line it wasn't too busy, but the line started to build as there were some who kept going back and forth with their bowls and sauce cups mixing everything they want. Maybe giving everyone a tray from the beginning might help a bit to prevent all the back and forth and people getting all mixed up. When we returned to our table our drinks and apps were there. I ordered the soft shell crab and to my surprise it was really good. The batter a little different from what I'm used to, but still good and the crab juicy. Our bowls came and they were amazing. Although I wish I had put a little more sauce the pad Thai noodles were cooked perfect. Overall a great place for lunch, service was great and the food was delish.

Service was great. Fresh ingredients but it seems the silver bowls you get to pick your toppings have gotten smaller. Price went up and smaller bowls make you say humph. They did manage to overcook pretty much all of my protein. My kids did enjoy watching the fish in the fish tank.

Raw food and vegetables are scattered on the counters and floor of Mongolian grill.
Hallie H.

Raw food and vegetables are all over the counter & floor at the Mongolian bar! Absolutely gross and unsanitary.

It was my first time visiting this restaurant and it was clean, the lighting was low and calming. The hostess was very cheerful when she greeted us. Our server was very patient and helpful. He made sure that my experience was memorable. I asked him about a few dishe and he suggested the spicy shrimp sushi. After finally, deciding what I wanted to eat, I went with the bowl. OMG!!! I got the spicy shrimp sushi and and nice selection of meats, veggies, spicy and sauces. Let's not forget the egg! I would recommend this restaurant to others I know. The professionalism of the staff was amazing. I'll be back!!!

I think I would have given them a 3.5 stars if you could give half stars. Monday-Friday they have a lunch buffet for adults from 11 am-3:30 pm for $14.70! This seems to be the cheapest price, but can also come on other days and times (photo attached with updated prices). You can also get a takeout box which they weigh to see how much it would cost you. We immediately got a seat and were able to get our food no problem! The restaurant was very busy and people really seemed to be enjoying coming. They do have a "wall of shame" when you first come in with people that have left the restaurant without paying for their food. I have never seen this before and find it interesting they screenshot their security cameras and print off photos of people to put on the wall! I hate they have had so many people leave without paying...just wanted to mention it since it was a shock to me the first time! The restrooms are very dark and not super clean. The water does get hot though! Overall the food was really good! The sushi wasn't super fresh tasting but other than that liked the other food.

He is an asian man and always there on Sundays. Twice we challenged him on our total because it seemed high. When we got our phone to do the math, he immediately lowered it by 10%. On the receipt during our last visit, he first said it was $53.74. After the challenge, he lowered it to $49.22. The receipt read total of $53.74 if tip of $4.52 offered. This has happened twice, that we know of. Be careful when you order take-out. We should be allowed to see the weight of the food. Deceptive business practices seem to be occuring here. That 10% tip could greatly add up. Who leaves a tip for take-out?

Long day, lukewarm experience…read more Another long workday in Memphis, and by the time I was ready for dinner it was after 7:00. I wanted something close to my hotel, dependable, and easy. P.F. Chang's is usually one of my go-to chains when I travel because I know what to expect. I also found a reservation through OpenTable, so all boxes checked. Unfortunately, this visit missed the mark. Things felt awkward from the start. I arrived for my reservation, but the two young women at the host stand seemed to have trouble locating it. Eventually one suggested checking OpenTable, they found me, and I was seated at a banquette. The seating itself has seen better days. The first spot I sat in was so sunken and worn that I moved farther down the banquette to find a firmer section. You can see the deterioration in my photo. It may be time for some upholstery TLC. My server, Jessie, was polite, but the service felt scripted rather than warm or attentive. I had just finished a long workday and was hungry, so I tried to give everything some grace. But the timing didn't help. I ordered the Beef with Broccoli, white rice and a Buddha Mai Tai. My entrée arrived before my cocktail. The beef and broccoli came out piping hot and tasted good, but the white rice was cold, sticky and lumpy. When my cocktail finally arrived, I mentioned the rice. Jessie replaced it and immediately asked, "Is this better?" before I'd even had an opportunity to taste it. The replacement was somewhat warmer, but still not the steaming-hot rice I expected alongside a freshly prepared entrée. At that point, I was hungry, tired and ready to call it a night. I finished dinner, ordered the key lime pie to go, paid my bill and headed back to the hotel. The frustrating part is that nothing here was disastrous. The beef and broccoli was hot and good. My cocktail was fine once it arrived. My order was corrected when I spoke up. Jessie was polite. But hospitality is more than completing the individual steps. Timing, awareness, warmth and anticipating what is happening at the table make the experience--and those pieces were missing. P.F. Chang's is usually one of my reliable choices when I'm traveling. This particular location just didn't deliver the experience I've come to expect from the brand. Perhaps it was an off night, but next time I'm in Memphis, I'll probably explore another option. Life is too short not to eat well, sleep well, travel well--or shop well. Get out there and find your next thing.

I ordered the Egg Drop Soup and one of the House Recommendations The Honey Chicken. My soup was good and steaming hot, to be fair it wasn't the best Egg Drop Soup I ever had but it was good. The Honey Chicken was cooked perfectly but a little too sweet with the sauce and pineapple but tasty, I did notice it didn't have any carrots as described on the menu . My wife and kids actually have been here several times when I have been busy doing something else or whatever. So, I'm starving after already been to Mellow Mushroom and Corky's already. I agree to head to the buffet. We get there and my kids immediately scurry off for food. This is strange, generally my kids can't stand anywhere we go really, and bitch about it the entire time. Instead they are attacking this buffet like little refugees that haven't eaten in days. The food was nowhere near as bad as I was expecting. Of course, all of the food was somewhat bland to overly salty and the rice was dry and sticky but it really wasn't that bad. There where a couple of things that were really good. I think you have to eye the refill schedule and coordinate your trips accordingly. My wife had some sushi and is still alive after a week or so, that's a plus. My kids ended with a trip to the ice cream machine and loaded up on sweets before we left. Overall, this is one of the best nights out with my 8 and 9 year old daughters.
