Other than fear from my nutritionists, I'm pleased with our visit. We hadn't been here in many years, but we were in north Mississippi for a dental appointment; so we stopped in. We opted for the lunch buffet at a great price. Loads of choices, and all items had good flavor. Since I scouted the food as I dished for my hobbled wife, I should not have over served myself; yet I did. In particular, I am fond of sushi at a buffet. I can try a few without breaking the bank. Nevertheless, I can take it or leave it. My wife enjoyed all her food and grabbed seconds on some leaf-style cookies. The soft-serve ice cream was excellent. Many standard Chinese desserts I had to forego, but the strawberry bananas looked tasty. Every pan area was neat and clean, even with slobs like me digging in. I regret to inform you that I agree with the other negative reviews. Wife and I wanted take out Chinese food. I saw the low reviews on Yelp, she saw high reviews (and more volume of reviews) on google. It's Chinese, even the "bad" Chinese I've had before wasn't /that/ bad. We get our order: general tso chicken (~$17) and honey chicken (~$20). Honey chicken- low on flavor, low quality chicken, and, as a first, has potato pieces throughout (I'm not saying that has to be bad, but after seeing/tasting the quality I didn't trust the potatoes cleanliness, if you will). Veg was flavorless and overcooked. Fried rice- sticky, little-to-bad flavor. General tso was better, but still not good. It seemed to me like they grabbed stuff out of the buffet trays and packed it up for to-go. Anyways, won't get it again. read more

I tried to make a call-in order, but the one who picked up the phone hang up on me when he heard me speaking Chinese (He never let me finish a sentence and shouted out in Chinese "our manager is not here" then hang up). I called another 2 times but nobody answer, 3rd time I believe the same person picked it up and directly hang up. Called 2 more times but nobody answer. I drove to the place and made an order and complained about what happened. I was told that they thought it was a scam but the only thing I said was "Hello" in Chinese. I was never being to a Chinese place who hang up immediately when heard Chinese, even if the one who pick up the phone cannot understand or speak Chinese. We came here after the wait times were to long at some of the other places around... I am generally super "anti-buffet" so getting me into one is not usually going to happen. My wife and kids actually have been here several times when I have been busy doing something else or whatever. So, I'm starving after already been to Mellow Mushroom and Corky's already. I agree to head to the buffet. We get there and my kids immediately scurry off for food. This is strange, generally my kids can't stand anywhere we go really, and bitch about it the entire time. Instead they are attacking this buffet like little refugees that haven't eaten in days. The food was nowhere near as bad as I was expecting. Of course, all of the food was somewhat bland to overly salty and the rice was dry and sticky but it really wasn't that bad. There where a couple of things that were really good. I think you have to eye the refill schedule and coordinate your trips accordingly. My wife had some sushi and is still alive after a week or so, that's a plus. Quite possibly the worst Chinese food I've ever had. The menu says your order comes with fried rice, an egg roll, and a crab rangoon. Ok, I know this a buffet, there is not to much to say... or is it?! I went to this place 6 years ago when we first moved here and I hated it, I promised never to come back and I did, until a month ago that a friend of mine told me it was a new administration and that the owners were very nice and very CLEAN!, so this caught my attention, because in my experience with buffets they're always in the nasty side and greasy. Well, not this place. The people super nice, friendly and with manners, the place clean, the food good and not greasy (at least not what I choose) They have surprisingly good sushi rolls and a lot of variety. Got take out and it's definitely not fresh! It looks and taste like it's over a day old. We called and told them and she said they cook all take out orders fresh but you can clearly see by the photos this is not fresh. Lo mein noodles taste horrible. The chicken is over cooked and dry. I have been eating at Hunan for over 10 years the food on buffet is delicious they have Chinese and southern comfort food candy yams Mac and cheese fried catfish etc . On a random excursion to a couple of antique stores out in the Olive Branch vicinity, the husband and I stopped in here for lunch. We weren't aware when we pulled in that it was a buffet, and we probably would have bypassed it all together had we known. I was pleasantly surprised by the interior. Hunan is well decorated and appears to be very clean. This is always a bonus when it comes to Chinese buffets as most leave a lot to be desired in this department. The food was your typical, average Chinese buffet. All the normal fixin's - fried rice, crab rangoons, lo mein, pot stickers, sesame chicken, the random dessert bar with soft serve ice cream and odd little desserts. Hunan does offer sushi options. Now before you question my sanity, I would never eat "real" sushi from a buffet. Hunan's sushi options are all cooked- think california rolls and variations there of. They were surprisingly the best thing on the buffet. Hunan has a very attentive staff, my glass was constantly refilled with lemonade every time I took a sip- no seriously. Walked in earlier tonight with 4 families for a total of 13. The staff quickly put together a long table to accomidate us. They also quickly brought out drinks. My husband and I eat here frequently. The atmosphere is clean and pleasant. The food offers both a buffet (with both Chinese offerings and "Southern Style Home Cooking" plus a small salad bar, sushi selections, and soft-serve ice cream) in addition to their ala carte menu. The buffet seems to be very well 'maintained' and the food doesn't look like it's been sitting there for hours. Their take-out menus offer lunch and dinner specials, and the pricing on all was very reasonable.
