You see, this was my favorite station when I lived in Texas, and after having visited Austin for the weekend, I decided to Yelp about it. It's not a "pure" local country station. It's corporate - part of Clear Channel. But I don't care... so long as it has good country music. (Corporations aren't bad just because they're successful at what they do.)I've been starved of my Country music since our bay area country station went off the air, so this was a breath of fresh air. To be honest, I prefer Tennessee Country to Texas Country (I know, shame on me,) and for those who don't know, most every one of the nationally known Country artists are Tennessee Country. You know, the ones that head to Memphis in search of stardom. Anyway I do miss the city. So I'll admit part of this review is nostalgia. But I had my radio tuned to KASE for my entire weekend... except for a short stint on some other country station that billed itself as Austin's own radio station, except after accidentally setting KASE to the preset that the other station was on, I couldn't find it again. Five stars for "will always listen to this when I'm in town. And will listen to it online whenever I need my country fix."

I finally had to switch over to Sirius XM for my morning drive. Although Deb could be annoying, she was at least marginally entertaining. And losing Jason Dick, what a shame. Him and CJ had a great back and forth. Emily....my lord and bless her heart, she seems like a lovely person but she's as entertaining as watching (listening to??) paint dry. I'll pop in to 101X now and again in the future to see if it's improved any and I hope it does. Seems like we've witnessed the death knell of 101X in real time. It sincerely makes me sad.

Our paper is ready for a step up to a clean looking newsprint. Granite has all what we are looking for in a printer. My team took a field trip to see what Granite is all about. They have a corporate office and then their printer. I've met with their printing crew. I have nothing but a good understanding what they provide. Its a small crew of professionals who have mastered the materials. Spent a couple hours chatting with them and watched them perform their tasks at hand. After highlighting my concerns with our paper, it was apparent that needed to move over and let them take over our printing needs. Journalists are not keen to research their stories well. One example comes from an article written…read morea few years ago that stated that Emerson moved to Round Rock to be close to Dell, and that Dell was the reason Emerson existed. Emerson has been around since 1890 and is a multinational conglomerate involved in many industries and consumer markets. Perhaps the article may have been enhanced by interviewing someone in Emerson to determine why such a large company moved out of the city of Austin. I remember when Emerson was on Cameron Road, then Research Blvd before it moved to Round Rock. Dell, as well, was near Braker and Metric before it moved to Parmer, and eventually to Round Rock. There have also been other poorly researched articles related to construction projects in the area, and I find it difficult to rely on some of the information in CI newspaper. CI may open my eyes to something newsworthy, but I must conduct my own research to accurately determine what is going on in my community. Maybe CI should consider hiring journalists who are a little older and have lived in Austin long enough to understand what is really going on in the city, or who are diligent researchers before publishing inaccurate or misleading information.

These guys have a couple of great gardening shows on Saturdays but to me the real jewel comes on weekday mornings with "The Todd and Oz Show. " and continues throughout the day... Todd Jeffries is solid and smart. Patrick Osborne does a fantastic job after taking Paul Pryor's place on the show. I think he is the best journalist in local media. He relies on facts to back up his opinions about important topics such as the actions of the Austin City Council and County DA.. The Austin City Council and Travis County DA's office obviously need policing and "Oz" is no less than spectacular! Try it if you don't believe me. 590AM weekday mornings.
