I've never done a yelp review before but I felt very compelled after seeing a couple lower ratings. I've watched all the other local channels and haven't been impressed. Channel 7 is the only station that has always reported the news as is without a bias towards one side of the story or the other. As a person that works outside for a living, I appreciate the accuracy and frequent weather forecasts given. The morning anchors are entertaining as well. I literally watch 1-2 hours of Fox 7 a day and don't have anything even slightly negative to say about the station. I'm a third generation Austinite and don't ever see myself switching news stations! Thanks for reading my first review! read more

Fox 7 News...ok the news, though "entertaiment" more than factual is still ok. The weather reports are fantasy at best. I'm not asking for more accuracy- no that would be unreasonable. But- not near as unreasonable as your weather forecasts. Give the guy a wand and a pointy hat....at least at that point it would be funny. LOL read more

Fox 7 News is watching merely for Scott Fisher, the weatherman who looks JUST LIKE the Heat Miser. He's much nicer, of course, but still, I can't help but break into song every time his segment comes on. Ba-dum-ba-da-DUM! And being in Austin, most likely he IS gonna be "Mr. 101." read more

****ADDED 01/11/14**** We just found out Lorianna is gone, gone baby gone! Yay!!! So we are going back to Fox in the mornings! **************************************** My wife and I are in our 40s and we have both been watching Fox News in the morning for almost 15 years. We loved Joe and we loved Katherine! We love Kerri and especially Zack! And the "new guy" Dave seems to be a very welcome addition. All is right with the World!!! Well not quite. Word comes down today that Loriana Hernandez will be moving to the morning show.Ick! She is the reason we had to switch from Fox to KXAN for our evening news. She can not read more than one line without making mistakes it seems. She is always mucking up her stories, in our opinion. And is she pregnant, or isn't she pregnant? To put it politely and succinctly, yuck, yuck, yuck. It looks like Sally and the crew on KXAN will be getting our morning business from now on. Maybe this means we can go back to watching Mike and Scott in the evening though! BAD DECISION FOX! read more

www.myfoxaustin.com has become some what of a joke also in that it fits every description of what one of the webs worst websites would look like. It has flash animations all over it then a whole bunch of duplicate links of which are not even needed at all and takes about ten minutes to load if you are on a dial up connection Then they lay out the page in a way it is hard to find a single thing you would be looking for on there not to mention links are constantly broken and just lead to a page that does not even exist. I have a feeling they hired that lady that was working for the city as their web master of who was found to have no experience what so ever and was hired only because she was the girl friend of someone working for the city for $500,000 a year. Their news reporting has dropped from it was a good news channel at one time to the point it looks as if they have hired total morons that have no clue about anything they are reporting on and just reading what they are told to read from a teleprompter. Looks like they are following in the foot steps of ABC NBC and CBS and reporting only what they are told to report by Obama and nothing else now days. As Walter Cronkite had said later in life, "I only reported what they told me to report and nothing else because my job was at stake otherwise" I think Fox 7 in Austin has done the same for its own reporters. More than likely they have a teleprompter in front of them with the message, "Say only what the teleprompter tells you to say and nothing else or your fired" Kind of like the one Obama uses now days. read more

I give two stars because the station is helpfully informative when it comes to ... some things. Okay. I was interviewed by fox 7 recently, regarding their story about the new library that is opening downtown. The lady kept using tricks when asking her questions to try and get me to say things that I didn't mean (but would make their story more interesting, I'm sure). They reflect the same ignorant attitude that most people in Austin seem to have. They asked me what I thought about all the homeless people that hang out at the library. When I answered, "what? they don't have the right to be in a public place? they're not people like you and me?" they shut off the camera immediately. They wanted me to say, "Yeah, they're all criminals, they should be deported. How dare they be homeless in a city where housing is stupidly expensive and minimum wage is 7.25!!!" read more

The morning news is trying to be entertaining but they fail miserably. Why can't they just report the news? The jokes and banter between the anchors are not funny. The FAKE laughter is nothing short of annoying. read more

You guys interrupt Judge Judy every day lately for literally no reason. The warning is literally scrolling on the screen. We don't need Scott Fisher to interrupt for ten straight minutes to say what we already see. You guys are desperate for screen time. read more

I rarely get so enraged that I have to write a letter, but I made the mistake of catching Austin's local newscast last night for the worst reporting I've ever seen. Maybe this is why nobody watches local news? Here is the email I sent to the station (might as well post it here.... they'll just throw it away). I tuned in last night for the first time to your news program. I was interested in the "Kitchen Nightmares" story, hoping that I would learn some helpful tips of restaurants not to dine at. What I discovered was that your reporting is at high school level.....at best. I watched a man shuffle papers in a dark room and cook tacos with a band aid on for the majority of the segment. The other parts were about the items people have found in their food... .this was a "gross-out factor", this wasn't news whatsoever. The interviews on the street were even more useless.... When there is a general consensus that people don't like gross things in their food, then what is the point in getting peoples opinion on the subject? What's even more alarming is that you advertised this segment all night on Fox. People like me tuned in to hear local "Kitchen Nightmares".... can you imagine how many first time viewers you lost last night? Did the reporter do this story on his lunch break? I actually felt embarrassed while watching the segment.... The story looked like it was put together in about 5 minutes. You had a good chance to really inform the public on local restaurants and their kitchen sensitization..... and you completely blew it.... Big time. I didn't learn anything from your segment other then I will be getting my local news somewhere else. This wasn't "Kitchen Nightmares", this was a "Local News Nightmare". read more

I can't watch any more. Rebecca Thomas cut up a clip of a Dan Patrick interview to twist and change the meaning. Disingenuous. I expect correct information from the news. read more

While Fox 7 is the only Austin newscast that actually reflects the fact that Austin is a major city and market now, their news is too tabloid-like and comes off at times like a Texas clone of Fox 5 in New York. read more

Scott, please stop saying the temperature today will be in the mid 100's. The mid 100's is 150. You say it every morning on KVET. read more

it's been difficult adjusting without Loriana all this time, but we've managed.we watch every morning without fail. HOWEVER the new traffic person needs help. she's uncomfortable to watch and should get some pointers from her counterparts at the other channels' traffic people. read more

I used to watch Fox here in Austin as they had extended news coverage compared to the other local channels and they didn't seem to suffer from the same cultural mindset that one associates with Fox News. However, during the most recent electoral cycle, apparently they began to get edicts from the mother-ship and objectivity went out the window. This is was mildly annoying but not a deal-breaker, as you expect that from Fox and adjust your BS filters accordingly. I guess the thing that made me quit watching Fox 7 was their intrusive use of banners which take up 1/3 of the screen on a pretty large HDTV. Watching interviews on Fox 7 was like watching Wilson on 'Tool Time'. (You know, the guy that always peeked over the fence and you never saw his face). Anyway, they never seemed to grasp that television is a visual medium. It's 'Film at 11', not 'Banner at 11'. After watching numerous stories where the video was obscured by the banner(s), for example, a plane crash were the plane plummets behind the banner and you see a smoke cloud rise up, the coverage in shelling in Syria where you're watching the sky and listening to explosions, the numerous Wilson-ish interviews where you're watching someone's forehead as they describe a current event, or more recently, the New Years day fireworks show, which looked like lightning on a distant horizon because of the banner blocking the actual fireworks, I finally just gave up. I wrote to them on several occasions (not an easy feat as they don't really offer a link to do so) about this issue, never heard a word back. So, in the words of the great Rick Perry, "Adios, MoFo!". I'll miss Jennie Lee as she was the only one that showed any personality. read more

The BEST Austin morning news program.

I love Fox News in the morning! The best news , the best weather, traffic . All the stuff to get your day going.they are awesome .

They hired a new news anchor from California! Enough said. Please tell them to cater to our home people and send Rebecca Thomas back to where she came from because it sours the taste in my mouth again that we cannot hire local people and have to bring in others for good paying jobs. read more

The whole world is in turmoil, and this station day after day after day has opening news stories that are silly, so "local" that they are of virtually no interest to the viewer, and a majority of their 1 hour news shows have human interest stories that are boring. If there was nuclear war breaking out with Russia, the top news that day on Fox 7 would be a cat stuck in a tree, literally! I try to watch Fox local news stations for good quality news and pretty much have given up on Fox 7. The station is pointless EXCEPT for the weather. read more
