Long time listener, looong time, since the early 90's when I moved here from the Midwest. Listening to the morning show has been been my go to for the last 10 years. I finally had to switch over to Sirius XM for my morning drive. Although Deb could be annoying, she was at least marginally entertaining. And losing Jason Dick, what a shame. Him and CJ had a great back and forth. Emily....my lord and bless her heart, she seems like a lovely person but she's as entertaining as watching (listening to??) paint dry. I'll pop in to 101X now and again in the future to see if it's improved any and I hope it does. Seems like we've witnessed the death knell of 101X in real time. It sincerely makes me sad. read more

I have an embarrassing confession. I'll get to it in a bit... Anyway, I generally like the music mix of this station, albeit it is limited. But -- its still my go-to station. Andy Langer's sunday night "next big thing" show deserves 5 stars all by itself. The morning show is ok, but I wish they would not be quite so dumbed-down and sexual innuendo-driven. I actually find myself tuning to Dudley and Bob during the morning hours. Ok - the confession part. I have had my email blocked by the station. Yes, its true. Its a first. Am I aghast and a little embarrassed? Why yes, I am. The story: So -- I got to meet Deb around Halloween last year. She was at a booth near the Goodwill store in Oakhill and we stopped by after we went to dinner next door. She had her pitbull, Blue with her. Blue is a great dog and as I am a big pitbull fan, I stopped to pet him and then, thinking she was a pitbull advocate, told her about my friends and their good work at BadRap in Oakland and especially the incredible job they were doing with the Vick dogs. She seemed super interested. As my friends were recently the subject of a few news stories, I mentioned to Deb that she might want to do an interview with the ED who was my neighbor for many years and a very good friend and she seemed cool with that. So - I followed up with an email to her and gave her the contact information. She wrote back and said thank you. I don't think there was any follow-up. A few weeks or months later, I emailed her a link to a really great article on Bad Rap's work with the Vick dogs, along with videos of how well they were doing. I got a message saying my email address had been blocked by the station. So, I guess she thought I was stalking her? I thought she was a pitbull advocate. Weird. If she didn't want to hear about good pit bull news, she could have told me. Meanwhile, my friends have done segments on CNN (more than one) and other televised news. Their story has been in most major news papers. Dear 101X, It's been a long time that you and I have been together, and there are some things I feel I need to say to you. Now, I know it's a little scary that you just looked up and suddenly there are all these people here. I know it may feel like we yelpers are judging you, but that is not the case. We all love you, and we are here today to try and help you. We really feel that this is in your best interest. This, 101X, is an intervention. First, we need to talk about the choices you have been making. Some of them lately are good choices, no one here is denying that. For example, we were very proud of you for your choice of Kirsten for the evening show, frankly that voice is just tasty. And speaking of tasty voices, we love the addition of Deb to the morning show. British chippies are always a good thing, and that one in particular is funny and a good partner to your boy Jason. The Morning Show is one of the things that most of us love about you, and it's important for your healing process that you understand that we love you. But your musical choices are getting worse and worse, and that's why we are all here. We're very worried at how often you play "The Pretender". It's just not good for you, or for us, to hear that same song every 20 minutes. We also need to talk about "You Don't Know what Love Is". It's just too much to here 900 times a day, it's not good for anyone. Look, it's not that hard to know what your listeners need from you. Every night, we here the Top 8, and those songs are (supposedly) the most requested songs from your listeners. And yet, it seems like that is the only time we EVER hear those 8 songs. None of them are Foo Fighters, none of them are White Stripes. How does that happen? You'd think if these songs are getting heavy requests, they'd be in heavy rotation. Also, enough with the same 2 Alice in Chains songs. We loved Rooster in the '90's too, but they are dead. Bands who have Reunion gigs are not alternative, they are old. Flashbacks at best. In short, we want what is best for you. Please listen a little more to the listeners, and pay attention when Mr. Langer plays all the good new stuff out there on Sunday nights. That shouldn't be the only time we here those tunes, you know. If you are going to claim to be independent, local, AND alternative, you have to live up to it. At the risk of sounding smug, I'm going to note that I formerly managed an independent radio station. We took pride in the fact that we avoided such notions as "playlists" and went to great lengths to play more tracks than just the radio singles sent to us by the labels. So, with that in mind, I say this from the bottom of my heart: 101x, you suck. You're about as "independent" as sorority girls, newborns, and Jenga blocks. You are not a special flower. 101x is the anti-independent independent station. If it didn't bill itself as independent, we would all dutifully assume it is just another Clear Channel sheep, festering in the greatest hits of the 1990s and only playing "modern" rock songs that could be transplanted into that era. As has been mentioned in previous reviews, 101x wades through the typical muck at least 5 times a day. Weezer, Nirvana, Sublime, Nine Inch Nails, Muse, Kings of Leon, and the like are on CONSTANT rotation to the point that it's past irritable. The DJs are incredibly stubborn in their allegiance to anything that sounds like alternative rock, vehemently denying their audience anything that sounds remotely modern, innovative, or novel. Furthermore, many of them have the on-air presence of over-caffeinated 14 year olds, with nothing insightful or informative to say. This is Austin. It's a city of music and entertainment addicts. Go take your playlist to Ne-bro-maha or wherever you can find guys with backwards Yankees caps and Japanese tattoos. Hell, take it down to San Antonio. Jason & Deb in the AM: I'm going to give you a play by play of the Star ratings that average (in no mathematical or logical way whatsoever) out to this authoritative 4 Star rating... I needed more in my morning shows... I needed inappropriate humor and cussing and sexual allusions and... then came you. Personalities: 5 Stars I have been listening to morning radio since I put on my big girl panties after college and started working a 9-5. In general, I had always found morning radio very depressing, with few selections, wet-napkin dialog and crappy playlists as though the people who are up between 4am and 10am somehow deserve to be ear raped by Rob Thomas and Bono back to back. Rude. So when I discovered 101X you guys were honestly a breath of fresh air. I commend you for originality, for pushing the envelope with risky content while rarely being fully offensive, for having inside jokes that show you guys are in sync, in character and yet it's always funny enough to not turn off the listener. You're the only radio show to which I've actually laughed aloud while listening. I love that Jason enjoys a self-deprecating humor and at the same time is extremely full of himself. And I like that Deb calls him on his crap. But what I love most is that you guys play off each other so well BECAUSE you each have your own personality that vies for leadership because you both bring something to the table. Kudos. NOT Being Bobby Bones or JB & Sandy: 5 Stars All you need to do to outrank these other shows... is to not be these other shows. I feel like every time JB (or is it Sandy? I don't know or care) is talking into the mic it's while chewing a roast beef sandwich and practicing Lamaze. Please stop sloppy breathing, Dude. I need these others shows to shape up just enough that I can change the station from 101X during their commercial breaks without dying of boredom and eye-rolling. The Female Presence: 5 Stars Deb, while you're clearly embellishing your accent (and sometimes you slip really poorly) because you've been transplanted for so long (it fades, just accept that already) that's just something at this point that kind of makes you endearing. I used to care about this, and it made me want to air-wave punch you every time I heard you really emphasize something that just really didn't need to be emphasized. Now I see it as a quirk and appreciate that you aren't like the other female radio personalities in town who serve only the purpose of waiting for the man on air to ask them a question or say something risqué to make them giggle and blush and act girly. They're all so drab, whiney and annoying. So, well done for having a handle on sarcasm, wit, and humor; For having some balls and not just being the vagina sidekick. The C of the Week Segment about Not Spaying/Neutering: 1 Star Because, Deb, it was f**king disgusting that you said you like to tickle your dog on his ball-scar. I threw up a little in my mouth and almost wrecked trying to text "You're my C of the week cause that's just effing weird," to you at the station. I've since forgiven you but have been dying to call you out. Promotional Plugs: 3 Stars Would be one star for this because the promotional plugs you all do are so damned annoying... But 3 stars is what you get because I realize that they're necessary and because unfortunately at least one has worked... on me. When I called Restora Austin for a consultation I let them know that as annoying as Deb's voice is saying "Doctor Reed and Doctor Gordon at Restora Austin" every 15 minutes, when I actually started looking for a doctor, I literally heard it in my head. Well done, you ear worming mothers. Song Selections: 2 Stars Honestly, that's a testament to how highly I'm ranking your humor and personalities. Because you guys are pretty unoriginal, repetitive and you swiftly bludgeon to death with a hammer any new and slightly catchy tune. Remember when Gotye came on every hour instead of once every 15 minutes? That was still too much. Remember when I learned the entire lyrics to what you guys call "The Lion King Song" (Some Nights) by FUN in one f**king morning because that was the ONLY song you played all morning? And if you continue to interject Foo Fighters into my AM commute - You'll have it coming Oooooooone of these days. And if you kill Mumford for me... Hell hath no fury. You've been warned. Crowded Studio: 3 Stars When you both and Nick and Alex start cackling, it can get overwhelming. Keep it simple and take turns like big kids. But overall, Alex really works well with you guys - You've got a great group right now. Overall, I've been a loyal listener, happily, for years and will continue. Keep entertaining me, guys. Woah! The Offspring, Sublime, Beastie Boys and Nirvana still in heavy rotation? Is it 1995? No.... you're listening to 101X. This radio station is a joke. Aren't we supposed to be the "live music capital of the world"? Here's how bad it is.... In Salt Lake City... home of conservatism... X96 (the equivalent of 101X) was voted one of the top 10 radio stations in the nation by Rolling Stone. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/KXRK#cite_note-3). Yeah... SALT LAKE CITY..... That should anger all Austinintes.... I don't think people here realize how horrible 101X is.... or maybe they just can't get their music taste out of the 90's. So far this is my favorite station in town. Having grown up with nothing but "Today's Top Hits" radio, at least I can hear a wider variety of radio hits here than normal. Granted, if you are from Cali or somewhere more progressive then it's probably pretty lame, but for now I'm doing ok. So I kinda feel like I gotta give it 3 stars, not because the station is so awesome, but because 2 stars says "I've experienced better" and honestly....I haven't. Now, with that said, even I - from nowhere, TX - can't understand why there isn't any time slot that showcases LOCAL artists. This is a LOCAL station, no? We are the LIVE MUSIC CAPITAL of the WORLD, no? Why is there no one in this whole town playing Austin music?? I know from my extremely limited experience that there are all kinds of great bands here with killer music. What's the point of even having a local radio station if you aren't going to give the local acts any play time? I would love to see someone in this town start up a radio station that is specifically targeted to MUSIC LOVERS. Radio hits are ok, but lets do some deep tracks, and definitely a wide variety of local music. If that ever happens, I will be right there. After living in LA for a few weeks recently and having to suffer through the overrated and dreadful songs being played on KROQ I was so happy to get back to Austin and get to hear 101X. Yes, they do bill themselves as independent and they do have a lot of mainstream bands (and 90's alt hits) being played but the nice part about 101X is that they mix it up with other stuff. In other words you can actually hear different stuff and variety stuff especially if you listen to some of their specialty programs. I love their concert calender as it is a great place to keep track of the good rock music that is coming to town. They do give space for local bands which is good. For corporate owned, terrestrial radio 101x is about as good as it will get. Go online if you want to hear true independent radio. read more

This is the official Pearl Jam and Mumford and Sons radio station apparently. Really? This is 2013 not 1992. Pearl Jam was a mediocre overplayed band in the 90's, why is it still being overplayed in 2013? They play a Pearl Jam tune at least every hour with Mumford and Sons thrown in to evidently "break things up." Haha what a joke. Play more cool stuff like Metric and Death Cab for Cutie. Note: This is a review of just the Jason and Deb morning show, which I listen to from podcasts. Also, I'm a podcast whore. So, I was trying to save up the podcasts I listen to routinely and this was the perfect time to see if there were other shows worth listening to. I actually listened to this show for a month last year for a similar reason. My husband is English, so I thought that if he heard the English Deb, that he'd find the show interesting. He didn't. He continues to listen to his beloved BBC. I think I stopped listening when I came back from vacation. Anyway, I gave the show another chance recently. Jason is still creepy -- but in a good way, if that's even possible. I guess he just sounds like the guy who tries so hard to get women half his age to go out with him that it's fun being on the sidelines, being glad that I'm no longer in the dating game having to deal with this guy and his ilk. I guess I just like knowing that he's a nice guy to be around, not just to be with in any intimate fashion. Someone you just want to be friends with. Deb is fascinating. I love her little growl every time she gets on her soapbox about anything, really. And the way Jason (and the producer guy -- don't remember his name) always make her the butt of their jokes is fun to listen to. I could do without her "Deb's Diary" segment. However, I do love the bit in which she calls random businesses to see if they will say "I love you" back to her. The comraderie among the members of this show is great. And I did have them on rotation as part of the 6 shows I listened to at one point. But when life got in the way and I had to pare down my podcasts, sadly, this was the first to go. read more

Thanks for making those years back in high school memorable. It seems like only yesterday when I was trying to decide where to volunteer in the Austin area. It was a requirement for high school graduation and I needed something fast. I chose Krox mostly because of the location (not too far from the house) and didn't really think about the type of community I'd be stepping into. I am so glad I made the decision thanks to all the wonderful staff and volunteers I met! I highly recommend spending time to help out during a pledge drive or promotional event. I've always found KROX volunteers to be some of the nicest people I've ever met. There is never a dull moment during a pledge drive especially when you get the little kids calling in to ask what happened to Chuck's old time slot. Priceless. Did I mention that KROX also provided snacks for volunteers? I'm not sure if they still do this but they occasionally catered food from some pretty amazing places including La Madeleine! Oh yeah, they also had a popcorn machine that was always popping in the lounge! Yum. If you're lucky enough to volunteer during a live pledge drive please do it! I organized a volunteer session for one of my classes one weekend and we all enjoyed our visit. We got to talk to the featured artist who also gave away some of her in studio sketches. I still see footage on KROX from our visit and get all nostalgic just watching it. KROX you rock! Definitely a community worth checking out! read more

No! Sleep! Till Brooklyn! No! Sleep! Till Brooklyn! Well, KROX, I got my hourly dose of Beastie Boys in, and now it's time for my radio to turn off. You see, I have my alarm clock set to wake me up to you. I have the same nifty alarm clock I've had since elementary school, when my parents upgraded me from their childhood hand-me-down. It's got an alarm or music alarm toggle button, and two alarms. I set the first one to music and the second to alarm, to warm me up then make me jump. But these days it seems I'm far too lazy to get up at the alarm, so I turn it off and let 101X go at it. My music alarm does an auto shut-off in an hour. In that hour, I am bound to hear classic Beastie Boys (usually that, "Girls" or "Brass Monkey"), Linkin Park (no thanks), Foo Fighters, two annoying songs that really make me question whether this station has a clue what it's doing, and two or three really cool songs I haven't grown tired of (or at least grown to expect to hear). Also, I'll hear commercials for Mother's Window Tint, at least two strip clubs, and some place where I can donate plasma or participate in a paid medical study. None of which remotely interest me, but which do give insight into the typical 101X listener. But the sad truth is, I know I wouldn't wake up to KUT or KOOP, my other radio stations of choice, and as much as their morning show used to drive me up a wall, it's much more bearable now (less sloshy and spitty sounding, thanks to the exit of one DJ, I believe), and they actually do play music. The "Flashback Lunch" feature will sometimes include really cool old songs I haven't heard in a long time, too. And Sunday morning's "Chillville" ain't half bad. Certainly more tolerable than any similar stations in Houston, where I grew up. Until a better 'alternative' alternative comes along ... We'll be rockin this party eight days a week! read more

So, the fat guy who says what's on his mind and the sassy girl who'll call him on his shit is a really old morning radio formula, but I think Jason and Deb do it about as well as can be done. Even the segments that bomb are still winners (though it may be time to leave the I Love You calls behind). The rest of the station is an unobjectionable rock format that has a twenty song playlist. Good to listen to every once in a while, but change the channel after an hour or two or you're guaranteed to hear that Muse song again. read more

GEEK MOMENT: I hate to sound old but growing up near Houston in the late-90's, I used to tune my radio on super clear nights & could actually catch 101X sometimes during the stations beginnings & would get excited that I actually caught an Austin station! Back then I thought 101X was the coolest radio station next to KTBZ (Houston) primarily because it was the only Austin station I picked up & ATX was always a place I dreamed of ending up when I "grew up!" FAST FORWARD: Personally, I have found the reviews of 101X on yelp to be hillarious & until recently didn't know yelp could review things like radio stations. Believe me, I know & understand the frustrations people might have with this radio station. Yes, they do play the same 10 songs over & over & over again! I recently bought a 2012 Nissan with a 3-month XM trial subscription, so I have not listened to any of the local stations at all lately, but whenever I do tune in, 101X is still playing the same rotation they were in September (pre-XM)! I know & understand that this is how radio stations operate but a little variety would be nice! Even if it's a different Black Keys, Foo Fighters, or Nine Inch Nails song, ANYTHING different would be nice! Now I do like & commend 101X for their sunday shows. Chillville is my favorite sunday morning program & I hook up my Android phone to my home theatre to stream it if I'm lounging around the house. Next Big Thing is my 2nd favorite program (only time they play a variety!), followed by Complete Control Radio on sunday nights. oy! oy! oy! The 101X Staff picks are also good & does change from time to time, but doesn't stay in the rotation nearly as long as I'd like to see. I was one of those people who took their online survey sever months back & am surprised that they did drop some programming after the survey period was over (i.e. "Loveline"). They did listen to the people in terms of programming but they still kept the same music lineup... I don't get that! Now in spite of all this I still give them 4 stars. Why, you ask? Well, the reason is that the Alternative Rock radio format is a dying breed unfortunately. Before moving to the greater Austin area, I've lived in other cities & seen this format give way to hard rock/metal like KTBZ (Houston) & KDGE (Little Rock), "BOB/JACK-FM" style formats like KEDJ (Phoenix) succumbed to, or a more generic rock format like KROQ (Los Angeles). I love the alt rock genre & in my journeys I feel like the only other station like 101X is KNDD (Seattle) so I'm happy to see the format survive this long in Austin. From other reviews, it looks like 101 went through a hard rock phase (before I moved to Austin) & I'm happy that it was nothing permanent. As long as 101X continues to be around I'll tune in whenever I need to tune into terrestrial radio! read more

Wow Jason and Deb have a lot of friends giving them good reviews. I moved to Austin over 4 years ago and have since struggled to find any good radio in this town. Typically I listen to classic rock but have finally just given up on 101x. The morning show is just bad bad bad. I quit listening to it over 2 years ago. I don't understand how such a musically inclined town has such horrible radio. After giving up on the morning show I still occasionally listened in the afternoon and at night.. then the afternoon guy got old real fast with his constant player hating on bands like Blink 182 and the Chili Peppers. Now I'm down to listening just a few random nights if I'm working late. The programming is atrocious. I can't even add up how many friggin times they play Gotye or Muse during the day. Its ridiculous. My friends and I can't change the dial fast enough when those songs come on. I've now resorted to an intricate mesh of playlists on my ipod. I have just given up on Austin radio all together. Makes me really miss 91x in San Diego. read more

I'm really here rating The Morning X with Jason and Deb. Wow. what a great program. This is a great show to wake yourself up for the day. Jason Dick: The lovable, faux-macho, ginger, DudeBro. Plays poker and watches pron. Drinks beer. Gambles...poorly. Loves boobs sent to his phone. Get at him. Deb O'Keefe: The obviously fake british chick. spoiler alert. She was born and raised in Bucksnort, TN. Awesome when she isn't all worked up and shrieking about something. You would think someone who drives an old lady car would be more laid back. Nick Hajda: The walking, raging, human punchline. So damn entertaining. I can't imagine the show without him. I hope he finds love, except he may not be as angry. Alex (what's his last name again? Sandusky?): When he first started he was a gratuitously condescending NerdBro who looked down on Jason for daring to like things he didn't like. He has gotten better on this and isn't so obvious with his infatuation/crush on Deb now. The Listeners: They all have their strengths, but I could use more of Double Listener Christopher. He obviously is the the "People's Listener". Every text, email, tweet, or facebook reply is another jaunt into the glow of a true genius. 101X is my favorite station - the only station to hear the likes of Young the Giant, Foster the People, Awolnation, Cage the Elephant, 3OH!3, MGMT, etc.......... Got to tell you though, I didn't start out coming to the site to rate the station. What I want to know, and what I googled - "Do the Red Hot Chili Peppers own a radio station in Austin, Texas?" I'm talking about KROX! OOOOMMMMGGGG! It's become a joke with our family - there seems to be a Red Hot Chili Peppers song EVERY HOUR! I've loved the Red Hot Chili Peppers for almost 25 years, but COME ON! Please mix it up more! Yes, I agree with the person that commented that it seems like a station from 1995. I'm giving these guys three stars for the morning show cause at least it's something to listen to on the way home from the graveyard shift. The morning show could be better, it gets repetitive but sometimes weird stuff happens on there that cracks me up. Such as the broadcast during SXSW when Jason and Deb were totally trashed and Sorority Intern basically had to take the reins and try and save the show. These guys depend on the computer mix a lot .As witnessed the other night when I was at work and all of a sudden there was an actual mix of stuff playing 80's music 90's music real oddball stuff. New Order? I thought finally we get a real mix of stuff, is 101x finally seeing the light? Then the morning x comes on and Jason is super annoyed that the computers are not working properly and we don't get our daily morning dose of Toadies. I like the Toadies but they did make more than one album you know. I like that they put lovelines back on the air and at least they have punk rock on the air one night out of the week. If it weren't for these shows I probably wouldn't tune it cause really guys yall could do a lot better in the variety of music instead of playing the Mgmt song to death. read more

This is my experience when i was a Pflugerville resident growing up. i have lived in Austin since i was about 5 years old. As i grew up and started listening to rock music i tuned into 101X. In 2007 i was in middle school and i remember tuning in my radio i got for Christmas to 101X and hearing all the new music that just came out. I remember Listening to System of a Down in my garage. I remember slipknot being played and other hard rock/metal music. 101X used to play good music but now they play crappy auto tuned keyboard crap that i could make on my computer. Occasionally i still hear some Tool and offspring but its the same songs over and over again. I soon switched to KLBJ (93.7) as i graduated out of high school. The morning show on KLBJ is decent. Yes they whine all the time but its different from every other radio stations that are told what to talk about by the same person. This means no matter what station you listen to in the morning, you are going to get, more or less, the same story. The music on KLBJ is good. Its the old classic rock that i enjoy. But again the music is repeated. I do not know how many Boston songs i know by heart but i know ALLOT. I had no clue who Boston was a year ago. What these radio stations are doing gets old really quickly. I moved to Temple Texas to go to college and let me tell you i have struck gold. If you are looking for a radio station that PLAYS MUSIC listen to 107.3 The Fox. The fox is a radio station that 101x would have been if it didn't fall into indie rock and other crap. The fox plays everything. If you like actual rock music ranging from: Alice in Chains, Slipknot, Staind, Metallica, Bon Jovi, Aerosmith, guns n roses, Tool, the Foo fighters (played just enough not to be annoying... 101x...),Chevelle, Evanescence, flyleaf, SIXX a.m., Art of Dying, Five finger death punch, VolBeat (which i am sure allot of you have never heard of because you are forced to either listen to the radio stations that play the same old music or your ipod.) what ever you can think of that is ROCK music. The FOX is your radio station. Its an I heart radio station out of the temple area you will find it listed out of Waco. I STRONGLY ENCOURAGE YOU TO GIVE THEM A SHOT. The part that i like the most about this station is that they actually tell you about concerts worth your time. A few years back i got to go see staind and Stone sour LIVE in Belton. Staind came again not lone ago and i took my brother with me. After that Kill Switch Engaged and five finger Death Punch came down as well. Two months ago evanescence came with Chevellle and Halestorm. Im sure i have missed plenty of good concerts because of Austin radio stations. Come on Austin lets get it together. We are supposed to be the Live music capitol of the world. Bands like the ones listed above would rather go to Belton, A city smaller than Pflugerville because they actually have an audience that wants to go see them. Austin seems to block them out. This is Sad. To summarize, Austin used to have good radio stations. I am actually happy when i reach the edge of Georgetown where i can reach the Fox. Austin radio stations , at least 101X and 93.7 KLBJ, just play the same old o.k. music over and over again. 107.3 The Fox plays current bands and the old ones. They play new music that is coming out. When was the last time you heard of stone sour releasing an album?? Oh wait it just came out on the 22 of October... I sure as hell didn't hear about it on 101X. I heard about it on the FOX. I feel like an advertiser for this radio station but to me its a good mix of old music mixed with the modern newly released tracks and all time favorites. Also the radio voice always cracks jokes in between songs. Some of the jokes have made me laugh soo hard i almost crashed. I am not a machine i am not here to promote any one. I am here because i am tired of the music played in Austin. I wanted to share my experience here with you guys. I grew up in Austin and I will always consider my self an Austinite but the music is just terrible. Please if you give the station a try let me know what you think. I am curious to know how many fellow rockers there is out there just like me. There is only one Austin Texas. Lets at least have some real rock music out on the airwaves. I try to find one decent thing about this station. I really want to like it but its just sooooo lame. First Dumb and Dumber. Deb WAS a good host. She let that dominant personality ruin her. The morning show is probably the lowest form of dumb possible. There is nothing entertaining. They pretty much fall back to sexual inuendo for EVERYTHING. Sarcasm and put downs are the name of the game. Sorry folks but Andrew Dice Clay was a passing fad. ADC lite? Please! Howard Stern saw he needed a contract to continue making money bc he was rapidly becoming irrelevant. He was smart and bounced out of the ratings game. Maybe if they stopped emulating tired sex banter it could change. Sex is super appealing. But if its ALL you got and you just constantly take it there it gets unappealing. The afternoon guy you can tell is sort of creative but he is heavily reigned in. The only show on here that is really letting the juices flow is Chilleville. Not my kind of music. But hey you know at least they aren't stifling and the show is interesting. This station is at its best a more shrill version of hip hop with the occassional Metallica or STP thrown in to keep the Genre. They are not Independent (owned by Emmis out of Indy). They are not local(Indy company and the music is not determined by an Austin Consultant and they don't play Local Artists) They baaarely qualify as Alternative bc they occasionally play something that is really Alternative.
