They also told me that Toyota had a recall on my airbags. They said Toyota would pay for it but recently they were being told by other customers that Toyota wasn't covering it anymore so I should check with them before having it done. I did not receive any service here because their machine was down however the friendly guy who assisted me ran his computer on my car to ensure the smog test would pass. The man apologized for his machine not working but he still gave me the reassurance that my car would pass if I'd go to another location- this was a Saturday afternoon empty - no wait time. read more

I was in need of a smog check. A smog check was delivered. This is definitely a mom pop spot. It's in the cutlocated inside of a shared lot space straight to the back on the left. I came here multiple times by default. Each time I was treated just as fair as the last with compassion. The quality of the service was thorough, and impeccable. KS Smog truly lightened the load for me. They were knowledgable, direct and trustworthy. I had an enjoyable experience, and I'd say that's a win considering. They care. Tap pay is available when checking out. I paid a grand total of $49.95. Given the fact that literally everything seems to cost me more because of the type of car I have, I was elated with this price. I stumbled upon KS smog when looking on the map. I am so thankful I did. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Both Roy and Carrie Marie were so kind from the get-go.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Roy not only performed the smog check I came in for but my car's undercover has been dragging for sometime and many other mechanics have said it's fine and sent me along my way. The guy that did my smog check was super friendly and explained everything clearly. Took less than 20 mins to finish and I was out of there. The place could be a little intimidating and chaotic because it's a small plaza with other shops with little to no parking. I went early (10ish on a Saturday) and it wasn't busy at all. I'm very happy with the experience. The total cost for a smog test was $50 and around 25 minutes of time. This is how it happened: When I pulled in from the street it looked a bit rough because there are others mechanic shops in the same plaza and car parts all around, I thought "mmm, looks messy..." BUT I know I shouldn't judge a book just by the cover, so I kept driving in and as soon I arrive to KS Smog I was welcomed with a big smile. A guy and a lady were working the shop together and they both a great sense of humor. They took my car in and started the test, first a visual inspection, then plugged the computer under the dashboard and waited for a reading, my car is about 14 years old but in excellent shape and after waiting some time for the results, vroom-vroom! it passed. They gave me all the paperwork I needed with confirmation numbers. They mentioned it is uploaded digitally to DMV in the next couple hours after is done but if I needed more info or my own records I can use the paper they printed for me. Go visit them, they're good people. read more

A smog test is a smog test and we all know there's plenty of them in LA. However, the service here is worth driving out of the way for. Roy (the owner) himself is a gem. He went above and beyond- he helped me figure out how to turn off my "needs service" light that wasn't turned off when I received my oil change somewhere else, he gave me pointers on what DMV to go to for my new plates (off Formosa in WEHO) and was just overall pleasant and had the most spectacular energy. The smog test was quick and the same price it is anywhere else. I'll recommend all my friends, family and random strangers to Roy's smog shop for the rest of my life!!! Fast, efficient super friendly smog check service in the heart of Echo Park. Store front is a bit hard to find so do consult google maps before visiting. Parking lot takes a bit of navigation but is well worth it because at the time of this posting, the smog check was only $49.95, a good $15 cheaper than their nearest competitor. read more

It's been over 8 months since I've been going to him for my car oil change. He was a great person and was doing much better, but for some time now I feel like he's depressed or maybe he has a mental illness, due to which he is behaving very rudely and aggressively and even not working properly. Even if you ask something, he becomes very rude to you. I would not recommend a new customer to go to this place. read more

IF YOU NEED YOUR CAR SMOG CHECKED COME HERE FOR THE BEST PRICE! I called 25 smog locations near me and no one had a better deal than Roy! When I first called I was greeted by Betsy and not only was she detailed and elaborate with answering my questions but she was extremely resourceful! If you have anxiety surrounding anything car related then I HIGHLY recommend coming here. Fast and easy and they were soooo friendly. It's a bit packed in the driveway since they share the lot with a few other mechanics, so I would park in the neighborhood and then walk over beforehand. read more

And gave us tips on renewing DMV registration in a timely manner. We got our money's worth and we are going back at this place for future car maintenance needs. The gentleman on the phone said the transmission fluid is for life unless I'm towing or carrying heavy loads. When I questioned why I see that it's recommended online he says that dealers will recommend this service all day but if you check the Toyota maintenance manual it says you don't need it. Man! It's a bit more expensive for an oil change than other places that have quoted me, but I like that they use factory parts including Toyota oil filters. Stay tuned.... 6/29/26 - Brought my Sienna in for an oil change + complimentary 30-point inspection (since it was my first time there). Jared took the van for a spin, brought it back and lifted it up. They found a little oil seepage coming out of the transfer case. I let them know that I did see a transfer case drain/fill on the CarFax report before I bought it. Jared thinks they just didn't torque it properly so they were going to retorque and clean up around the area and keep an eye on it. Worst case scenario, they would need to order a new drain plug gasket and I'd have to come back to get it replaced. Thankfully, the drain plug just needed to get tightened. I was in and out in almost exactly an hour just as Robert promised. Thanks The Toy Shop team!! Pro Tip: they are booked out at least a week in advanced so make your appointment ASAP!

When I ran the quote through ChatGPT I was told they were charging me dealership pricing for an independent mechanic for that type of work in LA. So I brought the truck here to Speedway where I had Minor worked done before and had a good experience. They told me my bearings need to be replaced and did the work for lesson than a quarter of the price I was quoted at the other mechanic. Work was finished in a day and the truck has been running perfectly since then. Had I spent to 4800 at the place it wouldn't have even resolved the issue, which means I would've had to come out of the pocket even more after the initial work was done. Obviously a truck of this age is gonna have some problems and when they inevitably happen again I will be back here at Speedway to take care of them. Anyone who builds off-road vehicles knows that finding the right shop is a niche and personal choice--you want a team you can trust with your rig. I had originally received a quote from a shop in San Diego, but when I realized there was a shop right here in my own backyard in Burbank, I wanted to try and keep my business local. I reached out and sent them the itemized list of work from the previous shop to see what they could do. What followed was some of the most unprofessional behavior I've ever experienced. The guy who called me back came out swinging, practically yelling at me over the phone. He was incredibly defensive, snapping, "Just so you know, we are $275 an hour for labor, and I see you cut this invoice out from someone else's estimate. We are more expensive than them." He sounded deeply insecure and visibly furious that a customer would dare to shop around for the best fit. He later left a voicemail asking me to call back. When I did, a different guy answered the phone and spoke to me like I was a debt collector harassing him. When I answered his question about who I was looking for and our previous conversation, he rudely interrupted me mid-sentence, blurting out, "OKAY, WELL I HAVE ANOTHER CALL SO..." and literally just trailed off into silence. I just hung up. Why would I ever let people who treat human beings this way get anywhere near my vehicle? How does a business survive operating like this? I had a $12,000 job ready to go for tire replacements, a suspension overhaul, front bumper replacement, roof rack and heavy maintenance work. Instead of securing a massive project, these clowns let their egos and hostile communication skills ruin the transaction. Out of principle, take your hard-earned money and your rig somewhere else. Go to a shop where people actually practice basic kindness, respect, and professional communication. The way this entire crew came across was like a bunch of snakes. Save yourself the headache and go to another off-road establishment. And know that this place charges an hourly labor rate of $275 an hour.

It's unfortunate that these auto repair shops (6), dealerships (2) cost me approximately $1200 to fix the EGR monitor. The repairs/parts were unnecessary since it had nothing to do with fixing the EGR monitor; it just needed the computer to be flushed and the software to be updated. I had six technicians at different auto repair shops who lied and took my money with no resolution to the monitors being ready for smog check with the exception for K S Smog. Roy at K S Smog was the only knowledgeable technician who was able to read the software recommended by DMV and was able to point out the problem. I highly recommend K S Smog because this place will assist you with the most courteous manner and professionalism. I can assure you they will not rip you off as I have been by other repair auto shops. The lady that wrote a bad review for K S Smog on Yelp. It sounded like you were having a bad day. I understand your frustration. Let me educate you. The dealership, Star Smog/Repair, or the auto part store in order to sell you the right part you need to provide the license or vin number. Awesome service! Pulled right in and was helped immediately - be sure to pull all the way to to the back of the lot where the sign is located. Took only about 10 minutes and a smog check was $50 flat. After he had already run my credit card I mentioned I had found him through yelp and he was so upset that he didn't give me the $5.00 off yelp discount. I told him it was fine but he insisted on giving me a $5 bill to make up for it! Definitely recommended for a quick and easy smog check! read more
