I lived in San Jose for almost 15 years, and found Krown about 10 years ago. Not only do they do a great job (my hair is pretty easy to cut...which makes sometimes for a quick 'hack' job at other places....but not Krown), they are absolutely the nicest and most decent guys you'll ever want to encounter. They treated me like family, remembered where I worked, and to a fault, were always in good spirits and genuinely happy. Most of my visits were with Danny (and others...), he is great. Heck, the whole place is great. I've since moved to Florida and hope to find somewhere similar here - but when I'm back in San Jose - I'll be back. This review is overdue. Krown is a neighborhood gem! Super friendly and talented barbers and a really clear shop. Bring my son here to see Danny and he does an awesome job every time. They are extremely accommodating and can usually accommodate an appointment within a few days if not that same day. $25 for a kids cut, $30 for a mens cut and they only take cash. The parking lot can get a bit crazy due to the breakfast spot a few doors down, so get here a few minutes early. read more

THE best barber shop in town. My husband first stumbled upon this shop when we moved nearby almost ten years ago. Shortly after, my son started getting his hair cut there too. Now many of our friends and family frequent here also. We moved out of San Jose three years ago and STILL make the almost 20 mile trek! Junior, their regular barber, is very meticulous about his craft. He as well as the other guys are definitely busier than when we first started coming there but the cut is worth it. This is NOT your $8 cut nor your local Super Cuts. These guys will take their time and do it right. Many of the barbers take appointments and I highly advise that you do so. When you walk into this barber shop, you get that neighborhood family feel. Maybe that's because, literally, the owner has his 2 sons working right alongside him. Great atmosphere, awesome posters, clean, and a perfect place to escape, relax, and shoot the sh*t with all the guys. They talk about everything from movies to current events to the best food spots around the area. They have a few other barbers (not blood family) who have worked there long enough that they seem like a unit. They close for a bit at lunch during the week, but they take appointments so no issues with availability. Jacob is my main man. Clean fade, straight hard line, crisp edging, and picture-perfect tapers EVERY TIME. He always takes just the right amount off the top too. Steve did an awesome job with my 3-year-old son!! Hands down we will definitely be returning. No more children's hair salons again. We came in with a botched haircut from the children's salon and thank goodness Steve was able to salvage it. Every piece of hair was cut to perfection, no strand was left long and my son wasn't even itchy when we left the barbershop. I appreciated how gentle Steve was with my son and the fact that he wiped the hair out of his face every so often (as you can tell, we didn't get that kind of treatment at the other spot). I've been coming to this shop for almost 2 years now and have enjoyed every haircut received by Junior. He's very meticulous when cutting my hair and the results show. I go from a 3 to a 10 in under 45 mins. The other barbers are also very welcoming and greet me when I walk in. If you are considering getting a haircut here, I'd recommend calling 3-5 days in advance to book your spot and calling is the only way they take appointments (to my knowledge). In response to a 1 Star review.... My son has Autism and can be difficult to settle and doesn't always sit still. He's also loud, and very opinionated when he doesn't want to do something. The entire staff at Krown has always been amazing with him. They are patient, tolerant, and very accepting. I know that my son is not the only special needs child that comes in, as I've spoken to our barber about it a few times. To say that it's possible they were being discriminatory is pretty unbelievable IMO. In a world of negativity, it's easy to become jaded, but to attempt to slander a business is not cool. That being said, I will always recommend Krown and will continue to give them our business and refer people to the shop for services. Five stars all the way. read more

This review is LONG overdue‼ This is a true barbershop, these guys are OG. Nothing fancy, great price-points and entertaining conversations... I had been looking for a barber for my 13-year-old son, as he was/is getting too old for the kiddy shops. I stopped by KROWN Barber on the fly with a printed image of a style in-hand and no appointment. With that being said, I had no idea what to expect. We scored a seat in JACOB's chair, not realizing it was our LUCKY day‼This guy is SKILLED at what he does and a MASTER at his craft‼ Jacob is the real deal, he can LINE you up, FADE you up, STYLE you up, like "Justin Bieber" (our 1st cut). Funny but true. He takes his time, uses product, blow drys, styles and finishes with more product. Speaking of product, I purchased the "JOHNNY B MODE" they sell...It holds my sons hair all day and the scent is AMAZING (very manly)! I found this place accidentally to get my two sons each a haircut. I was a walk in and I didn't have an appointment but they said they could squeeze one of my sons in. Jacob did an amazing job on one of my sons and shortly after we took my other son to the other haircut shop in the same complex to save time. This was a big mistake. They did a horrible job and it was so bad that my wife and I went back into Krown Barber Shop and asked if there was any other time we could have them fix it. Jacob saw how horrible the haircut was and was able to squeeze us in between clients that same day. He was able to fix it and made my sons hair look fresh again. Here is what won me over. When I asked how much I owed him for the 2nd haircut he said"Don't worry about it, I feel so bad we couldn't get to him in time, It's on me!" Wow, he won us over big time and I now switched barbers as well and all 3 of us will only be seeing Jacob from here on out! I highly recommend Jacob and this Barber shop to anyone! I have been going here for a long time but I recently decided to start bringing my dad here too. My dad is a little older and can't drive so it's part of tradition for me to bring him her for a haircut every month. Steve the owner or Danny have always done great work. Make sure to set up an appointment or you might be out of luck on getting in. Danny is the walk in guy but it can be up to an hour wait at times and they don't have a list so you can't leave and come back. Also make sure you bring cash since they don't take cards or give receipts. For the bay area the price is reasonable. Service here is great but the atmosphere and the culture is why you come back. My dad just enjoys being around the boys. Also the cuts are top notch and they don't try to make you by hair products you don't need. read more

After being butchered at a local barbershop, I did a lot of research on yelp trying to find a new place with good barbers. Luckily I stumbled across Krown. I read the reviews about the atmosphere and a gentleman by the name of "Jacob". I quickly booked the next available appointment with him. The day of my appointment I let him know about how my hair was chopped up at a different place. He then started combing my hair side to side then got to work. I stopped by today to see about getting my son a haircut. There were 3 barbers with no customers in the chairs or waiting. One of the barbers asked me if he could help me and I said yes, my son would like to have his hair cut. My son is disabled and it is evident that he is. The barber told me two of the barbers were going to lunch and he had a 1 o'clock appt. So, in other words, no, my son was not going to get his hair cut. It seemed kind of odd to me that 2 of the barbers would be leave the shop leaving just one barber, especially since he had an appointment already lined up. Kind of a poor business plan, if you ask me. However, I definitely got the impression the unavailability was due to my son's disability, which I really find very disheartening if so. I had my grandson with me one day and walked by to show my grandson how the barbershop worked and was warmly greeted, 'come on in, we'll cut your hair right now!' My grandson is not disabled. My hope is that this barbershop does not discriminate against disabled people, mainly because it's just wrong but also it is against the law. read more

Just moved to San Jose and went looking for a real barber shop, not a beauty salon. After one Google search I found this place, it is only 4 blocks from my house and it had the look of a real barber. This IS a real men's barber shop that knows how to cut men's hair! The atmosphere is friendly and laid back, and the guys super easy to get along with.
