I stopped by this Kroger location the day before Thanksgiving -- I know, yikes! -- and what I found was a clean, well stocked grocery store. And even better, the store had staff positioned throughout. At one point, one of the staff (a manager maybe) noticed I was eyeing the aisle signage. He asked me what I was looking for, and then directed me several aisles away. I would have had to peruse many more aisles before finding what I needed otherwise. I go to this Kroger when I want to find anything beyond the basics found at my neighborhood Clifton Kroger. This Kroger in particular excels at a well stocked cheese section, bakery and deli. It also has several aisles and freezers with organic and vegetarian food, plus a large kitchen supply aisle. Also a plus: a drive-through pharmacy. And if you can't find what you're looking for, there's also a Target nearby ... or if you just feel like making your grocery run into more of a shopping trip in general. This is an excellent Kroger to have nearby! read more

I have shopped at our Kroger in St. Matthews (Hubbards Lane) for over 25 years and think it's a nice place to shop. We have many other grocery options nearby like Whole Foods, Walmart, Target & Trader Joe's (my other go-to). They keep evolving with the times, with curb service groceries, etc. The produce is good quality for the $. The little clinic is handy. Many of the people at this Kroger have been working there a long time and are very friendly. My minor beef is with the deli. It takes forever to get meat sliced. The system they used to have was great because you could order at a kiosk and come back at the end of your shopping to pickup. read more

I love Kroger! Reasonable prices and quality products. I also use my Kroger credit card to get discounts on gas at Kroger stations. This is the grocery store I frequent the most! Check out Simple Truth products not found in the health food aisle, but with all other products around the store. Flowers, plants, and specialty cheeses and home supplies are also found here. read more

This has been my Kroger for probably 20 years. At this point, I'm sorry to say I do the majority of my shopping at Target across the street and I'll definitely be checking out Publix when it opens. There are constant inventory issues and they no longer carry some of their own PS products. Sad, but true. read more

This may be one of my favorite Kroger's in town. I could spend hours in here! I stopped by to pick up a work "happy." A "happy" is a just because gift to thank someone, or just make their day! They have a lovely produce and specialty section. I didn't have much time to just stroll but this foodies eyes were scanning the place! They also have a large floral section too! They have the free Friday item located at the front too for east access. The store is clean and lots of employees around to help. The aisles are a little weird bread is split up on two different aisles as are the crackers. The sections seem small Until you walk around the corner to the next aisle. They also have a Starbucks and Little clinic inside too! They have clicklist here also! Wish this location wasn't so far from my home or I would make this my preferred store. read more

Thou foul, loathsome gas station! Thou veritable hive of scoundrels and miscreants! I can't hold the fact that the worst humans patronize this gas station but I will tell you that when I say, "I hate you, I hope your houseplants die, and your sports team loses" that this is the strongest language I can use without being reasonably scolded by Mary Klaustermeier (purveyor of Minnesota Nice and other fine goods, the voice of my conscience). This gas station is awkwardly situated across the street from the Kroger, which is fine I guess. I don't usually walk through the valley of the shadow of Kroger but the grocery is also fine. It's all fine. Nothing makes it jump out at as you as a marvel of human ingenuity or consumerist planning but it has the food, over-the-counter medication, and cancer-causing chemicals to clean your home. It also provides flowers of passible quality, a pharmacy, and a Little Clinic. In a surprise to no one, it is a Kroger. It's not the best Kroger but it's not the Kroger with security guards and fruit flies either. read more

The Kroger on Hubbards Lane is a store I shop at once a month or so. Kroger carries a few staple items that are better quality and cheaper than some other stores. The meat department is good and also the produce department. Kroger always lures my back with those ridiculously good coupons SO I continue to wander back in to the store. I have never had any issues other than pleasant employees and a clean store. The biggest negative for me is the crowded parking lot but what can you say it is a populated area and a popular store. I just go at off-peak times - problem solved. read more

today I went to thid Kroger with my friends. my friend jumped out of a tree and sprained his knee so he used one of those carts you drive. then he got in trouble because he was not that old and looks skinny. They proceeded to kick us out of the store saying he was lying and saying they said he sprayed his ankle the first time instead of knee. This is really dumb. If you don't see me at Trader Joe's getting my groceries it's probably because I'm getting them at this Kroger. I go to this one mainly because it is the closest to my home, but it is also very clean and more convenient for me. The parking is shared with many other businesses, so sometimes it can be a little bit hectic depending on what time of day you decide to come. They also have a nice, separate spirits shop next door. read more

Overall this is the best Kroger I have seen in the city. It is clean, staff are mostly courteous and efficient. I would recommend this Kroger because it is warm, welcoming and its medium size. It has a good variety of fresh fruits, vegetables and meats. Their grilled cheese sandwich is to die for! read more

First time at this Kroger's location, and I was floored! I always love going to the big Kroger's, since they usually have more options with regards to fresh, organic, or take-away options. For this location, they have all the above! They have a deli section, which is nice to get some cold-cuts. They also have where you can take-away chicken, hot food, etc. which is convenient for a quick and cheap meal. This Kroger's also has a nice layout, and offers a lot of organic options, especially compared to other locations. Even though this isn't my go-to Kroger store, since we were in the area and needed to pick up some stuff, I have to say, I wish it was! The employees were also super helpful, and it wasn't very packed (it was late in the evening), which is nice. Also, I am pretty sure this place is open 24/7, which is also super nice and helpful! This is my neighborhood grocery store, so I go in here all the time. They have a great selection of stuff, including a sushi bar, cheese shop, deli, pharmacy, bakery, and a meat and seafood shop. They also have a Starbucks if you need a jolt while you shop. They have a decent selection of beer, including a pick-six stand. read more

I go here for essentials because it's cheaper than most of the options in the St. Mathews area. But I cringe whenever I enter. If anyone knows of a better place to shop, please let me know. The fruit and veggies are never fresh. There is always random smashed grapes and fruits smothered all over the floor in the produce department. The pharmacy department is inept. This is my go-to store for groceries and prescriptions. This Kroger typically has a better selection of deli/cheese/sushi items than other Krogers. Though their selection runs a little low on the weekends. My rating is mostly based on the employees and staff. I work with individuals who have special needs. We come to this Kroger almost weeto practice community skills (paying, finding items at a grocery, managing crowds, etc..). Every time I have been here, the employees have been very kind and patient with the individuals I work with. They always show patience and care when allowing time for independence, and practice with paying and social skills. One time one of the employees even had a badge that stated his name as "Mr, Clause". Such a fun way to make a difficult year more festive for kids and adults alike. This Kroger (along with the one in Middletown) is one of the best locations in town. I love it! There's only been one or two times when I have walked out mad which is a good sign when it comes to myself. They seem to have everything I need all the time! Full disclosure, everyone has a favorite Kroger and thinks theirs is the best. But I really do think this one is the best! It's just a Kroger as far as selection and layout is concerned. Big fresh area for produce/meat, and a good natural selection (even if it is that old layout where they did the less convenient store-in-a-store model). What tips this one over the edge though is 1. Their in stock conditions are always better than other Krogers. 2. They have enough self check stations that you usually don't have to wait too long. 3. Their seasonal aisle and offerings are larger than others. Lastly they have some genuinely friendly employees. One tall, thin, round eyeglasses wearing gentleman who works in the produce department has been there for years and is always sweet as can be to every customer he sees. You go North Hubbard Kroger! I much prefer you to Middletown which I think has a (weirdly predominant) snotty factor. Keep up the good work. read more

This is the closest Kroger to me. This store is always clean and the employees friendly. Often times I am asked multiple times if I need any help finding anything. Most items are always in stock. I go shopping at odd hours so sometimes the fresh produce can be a little bare. Most often they seem to be out of jalapeños when I go. I can survive without them of course. Overall this Kroger satisfies my needs and wants. read more

This Kroger is one I visit most and like most of the other locations it's what day it is makes the grade. I like the Boars Head brands and Murrays cheese but I sometimes see poor food handling practices at both the deli and cheese shop. Most I like to get brands I like uncut I just take the hunk and cut it myself. All the major brands some good priced others high priced. I stick to just getting the basics and seek higher dollar items at more custom places. You can find some quality items if you look for them. Produce area usually good bakery very average. Cashiers usually pleasant and park is more than adequate. read more

If I could give this store fewer stars I would. There are some really good employees there. . But the customers there tend to think their sh×× doesn't stink and who are clearly jerks any time of the year. Last Sunday aroound 4 PM while I was in the baking aisle in a battery cart because I had just had an operation a few days before. I had this person slam into me with his cart , catching my leg and and hand between the carts. When confronted he said it was because he thought I was taking up too much of the aisle . I was over as far as I could get. All he had to do was say " Excuse me" and I would of manuvered the cart enough for him to get by but apparently he thought he was too good to be polite. The staff was giggling together and every time I passed an employee, they smiled and asked if there was anything they could help me with, said hello etc. I will be going out of my way to come to Saint Matthews Kroger on Hubbards! Although I live closer to Dirty Kroger, and all the hipsters love to shop at Krogay, this is the Kroger I go to when I want to feel like I'm rich people. I have always found this to be a relatively clean Kroger, and I usually shop there on Saturday night, so it's not even too crowded, since its habitues are at Porcini's or Majid's or Equus on Saturday nights... The natural food section is great, they have the best price for Dr. Bronner's soap anywhere in Louisville, and they just started a "build your own six pack" in the beer section. Take out that infernal Starbucks and I'd give it 5 stars! read more

This is probably my favorite Kroger in town. It's clean, there's a good selection, and they frequently have sushi samples. Also this is my favorite place for grocery sushi! I love the sushi here! They have a really nice selection of cheeses and make a lot of yummy dips and spreads too. I have been going here the past couple of years. They're frustrating in a few ways, I can explain why. First, I'll say they're good to shop at when they're open, and if you don't come in late when no one is on the check lanes, they have a lot of good products at good quality, but.... - They used to be 24 hours, and that was great since I worked night shift, but now, if I work late, too bad, so sad, they close at 1 AM. Real smart, Kroger. At least stay open until 2 AM. Is that so hard? Sometimes I don't have the time I need and I have to rush at the last 10-15 minutes they're open just to grab only a few things because it's all I have time for!!! - Apparently, most Krogers in America, from what I've seen, are open on New Year's Eve, but tonight, I had to almost starve tonight given I had no time to shop for the past 4 days of working, and this Kroger was CLOSED tonight! I had to go to Walmart, one of the only places open until midnight, because I work night shift. Even the cleaning guy for the store wasn't told! Poor guy was standing out in the 10 degree cold weather wondering why they closed so early!!! They didn't tell him! Now THAT'S bad. Christmas is understandable to close or have shorter hours, but on New Year's, not everyone should suffer from this given it's so close to Christmas, and in my opinion, is not as vital of a holiday. I'm one of the many who didn't have plans, and had Walmart not been open, I would have not had food. This is very upsetting, because I am very anti-Walmart, and I did NOT want to spend more money on food, and not to mention, Walmart didn't have everything I needed from that Kroger store. If Walmart lets people who want to work that evening work for more hours, why not Kroger? - I can't tell you how much I hate dealing with those self-checkout machines. If they're open until 1 AM, they shouldn't have a problem getting people hours to work that late like some night workers want to, but it seems they don't even allow that option. The machines seem to work better now than they used to, but for many MONTHS, the machines on certain products I got would suddenly get a mind of their own! "Help is on the way" after scanning an item, when I did nothing wrong. I had to go through the frustrating routine, which put me in a bad mood every time I went there. It was very stressful, I wanted to get out of there faster, because I'm on a schedule, but machine kept me there. Luckily this hasn't been as much of an issue lately. I'm hoping they fixed this. Still though, I really wish I didn't have to deal with a machine. The store itself is great with products and the employees are great, sure, but it seems the way it's managed is missing much to be desired. If it was open an hour later, kept on the machine issues, communicated with their cleaning staff better (and who knows who else), and weren't so weird about NYE hours unlike most Kroger stores, they would be a good Kroger store. Apparently every Kroger in Louisville though I heard was closed for whatever reason.......very, very frustrating, and idiotic. read more
