They welcome everyone in the community as well as visiting tourists to shop there. And if you wish you too can become an owner by filling out an application and by making a one-time purchase of 8 ownership shares at $200 or paying for your shares one at a time in 8 installments of $25 each within an 8 year period. Owners receive benefits such as Owner Rewards, Patronage Rebates, Vote in their annual Board of Directors elections, eligibility to run for an open seat on the Board of Directors, and an invitation to the Annual Co-op Meeting. Today, I visited their Downtown Roanoke location. The employee on duty allowed me to explore the grocery store and take photographs to accompany my review. The store was very clean and organized, and although it was a bit late, early in the morning its suppliers bring in fresh merchandise, and make sure to fill up all its shelves spaces. In the past, I had purchased many items from this store. In the Summer, I would sometimes get a grab-and-go salad and either go sit at one of the tables that they put out in the Center In The Square or to the ones in the Market Building, and eat it with the salad dressing that it includes inside. Their hot Soup of the day is also very tasty and popular, and I've enjoyed a bowl many times. A while ago they experimented by selling Roanoke t-shirts and due to popular demand they now carry a nice variety of them for both locals and tourists who like taking one home with them as a souvenirof the Star City of Roanoke. We know this isn't typical of Aldi as a company; we've visited dozens of locations across two states and never had this experience elsewhere. This store clearly needs new management, and we hope corporate takes notice, because we don't believe they'd want this representing their brand. We're loyal Aldi shoppers, but until this location improves, we'll be buying our groceries elsewhere in Roanoke.

On this special occasion I thought it appropriate to visit it and write a follow-up review. So today, I drove up to this BJ's to do just that. From the moment I arrived at their parking lot, the first thing I noticed was how clean and organized it was, compared to other wholesale clubs, and its modern storefront that seems to be a preview of what you will find inside. Inside, you can always find a shopping cart of which one of their employees has brought in. I like their well lit space and the cleanliness of the store reflected in their sparkling clean floors. Their large screen tvs display is very impressive, as well as all the holiday items they always stock the store with. Most of their employees are very friendly and helpful, and if any are not, management listens to customer's feedback and takes action to make it right. Today, I went to the Deli department to purchase some Chorizo Cantimpalo, and noticed they had hired a very efficient and friendly lady with nice customer service skills. It's a pleasure to shop at a place with employees like these. Their prices are very good for items you always buy, such as Evian Natural Spring Water, which is my favorite. Besides this, today they had a sale that if your bought two 12 bottle cases you received $4 off. Today, I noticed a sign about their app's ExpressPay feature and that you got "$10 off on your first ExpressPay purchase of $10 or more." So I decided to use this feature, but was a little hesitant. But I asked for some assistance from one of the checkout associates, and found it very easy to use and very convenient. As I was leaving, I saw a sign at their Optical department announcing "a comprehensive eye exam by a Doctor of Optometry using a state-of-the-art technology." It appeared to be in person, but when I asked it ended up being a Remote Eye Exam. This is one where "an on-site technician operates the instruments while a licensed optometrist reviews the images and talks to you via a live two-way video call." This eye exam doesn't include eye delation. "Instead, it relies on digital retinal photography to capture pictures of the back of your eye without using liquid dilation drops." I also asked the associate in that department, if I brought an eyeglass prescription from an optometrist, if they could make my eyeglasses there and if they accepted insurance. He said they could, but didn't take insurance. So for people with insurance, I don't see the monetary advantage. As I was leaving, I showed the BJ's associate at the exit a QR code on my BJ's app. He scanned it plus three of the items I bought and let me through. Depending on one's situation, one can benefit from the services offered by wholesale clubs like this BJ's.
