I prefer this Kroger to the Eastwood location for a few reasons. For one, the parking lot is much easier to navigate. There are plenty of parking spaces, and even when it's busy, the lot doesn't get totally backed up. The layout of the interior, while not as up to date as other Nashville locations, makes a lot of sense to me as a shopper. Everything is easy to find, and it's typically well-stocked. Produce is the only section I've found that is sometimes a bit picked over. The best time to shop is a weekday morning (if your work schedule allows). Weeknight evenings also aren't too bad, as long as you can avoid the after-work rush. I almost always use self-checkout, and the team members working in that area have always been friendly and seem engaged. While this is not my favorite grocery store in town, it's a good spot to stop when you're in need of a few items. read more

Just like any other grocery store sone ups and downs but at the end of the day is always good costumer service, I like the product the offer and the prices are not as crazy as some of the competition. They have fresh produce with is what I always buy the most for my special diet. The store is always clean but the bathroom is a hit and miss. Is super close and convenient from my house so that makes it simple and easy. If is something you want you can just go to the costumer service desk and they can put a request for you. Kroger's are a grocery chain that you can measure other grocery stores against. They are almost always good but almost never great. We wanted seafood so we stopped in. They had farm raised salmon, shrimp, cooked shrimp, scallops, tilapia and catfish. We also looked for cottage cheese and all the speciality cottage cheese was all gone! Id guess that they had more in back but there were no workers to ask. Otherwise, it had a big produce department, big meat department, lots of cheese, big bakery area. I am a Kroger faithful and while this is not my favorite Kroger in the area, it is conveniently located and does what is needed when needed! This Kroger is located in East Nashville on Gallatin Pike and is a decent Kroger location featuring a Sushi bar, hot station, cheese island and Starbucks in addition to all the standard counters Kroger also has. This Kroger has a smaller footprint, so their layout is not a very familiar one for me and is quite choppy. This also reduced the size of the fruit/veggie areas and seems to impact the amount of stock they carry. Several of my trips to this location has resulted in me packing it up so I can head to Goodlettsville to get what I needed. I can usually find what I need in the aisles, but I strike out in meats at least 75% of the time here. This is a very busy location, so it makes sense that it could be hard to keep up with cleanliness and condition wise, however I do think they need to spend a tad more time as a few parts of the store, inside and out, are looking a bit rough. Service is hit and miss. I have never had rude service, but I have encountered limited or bothered service. Overall, Kroger is my go-to for many reasons. This particular location is 2 out of 3 for me in this area, so when needed or in the immediately vicinity, I will continue to swing by. read more

I have to say that I am a fan of Kroger and find myself often in Kroger when I am in Nashville, Tennessee. I travel a lot for work and I find myself in Tennessee a lot and I often stop at a supermarket to grab some drinks and snacks for my hotel. I am a fan of Kroger's blood orange flavored water and try to stock up on it when I am up here on Tennessee. The staff here was friendly and overall my experience was an overall positive one. read more

I could not find a single place online to contact these people about a product that gave me food poisoning. It was the Kroger Family Size lasagna. I prepared according to pack directions (even cooked in the oven an extra 15 minutes). Within a few hours, I had incredible stomach pain, vomiting and a fever. 2 years now and I see no improvement. Can't ever get customer service. They pretend they will help you, but place you on hold and never return. On November 12, 2022, my daughter & I were shopping We found 3 containers of hummus filled with mold. Took a while before we even saw an employee but when we did we pointed it out to him. Sadly, I need to update my review. I've stopped frequenting this location. I don't understand how - when so many people are moving in to the area and rents are going up up up - the stock/selection can be so poor. I would, regularly, have to sort through spoiled produce. Items that should be readily available (eg milk) were hard to come by depending when I darkened the doors. Customer service (didn't the jingle used to talk about 'for the best of everything, let's go Krogering'?) is lacking. Asking for help with finding items is treated with the same response as asking for an on-the-spot kidney donation. It's a shame. I tried to push through when others started to pile on but I can't ignore it any longer. The quality of this store has gone down hill. Most Kroger grocery stores aren't up to par in the 21st century, but this Kroger in Madison is especially awful. Everytime I pull into the parking lot it feels like I'm about to be crashed into. Think flickering fluorescent lights, dirty tile floors, odd store layout, and weird smells. You go in there looking for inspiration for your next meal, but you end up feeling like you are in a "Saw" film. I hope it gets bulldozed down and replaced with a Trader Joes. read more

This was quite possibly the worst grocery store experience of my life. It is prime time on a Sunday....the first NFL Sunday of the year...and they only had 3 lanes open not counting the self checkout lines. Each line had over 15 people in it INCLUDING the self check out ones. The line I was in was moving slow but steady. Then all of a sudden in the middle of ringing up someone the cashier just left....no reason...just gone. Then another cashier came and told us the line was closed and we had to wait in another line. I was already waiting in this one for over 20 min. Then not 30 seconds after we switched lines...they reopened it! WTF?!?! When I finished checking out I asked to speak with a manager. They paged one but he/she never came. This is the worst customer service I've ever had at Kroger. read more

Theresa, an older women with short hair and glasses, left the register before completing our transaction to hop on the register next to ours. We had to ask Marcus, the bagger, to complete our transaction, to which he apologized, and gladly obliged. I don't think Theresa enjoys her job, as she shoves your groceries to the end of the line, and refuses to bag any of them for you. This is one of the best Krogers in the city of Nashville. The place is open and bright. It doesn't feel remodeled or added onto with low ceilings like other Krogers in the area. It also has the BEST layout. Organic items are mixed in with the regular stock so they are easier to find. The selection rivals Green Hills. Overall, in my opinion, this Kroger ranks as one of the top in the area, mainly for the store layout, bright high ceilings, and selection. Other good Krogers include Green Hills (Selection, Customer Service), Hillsboro (Atmosphere), Belle Meade (Customer Service). Krogers to avoid include East Nashville (employee attitude problems), Downtown (Panhandlers), West Nashville (Lack of Paper Bags, Dirty, no landscaping). read more

Do NOT go here for cold beer. I have been several times both during the week and on weekends and the beer frequently feels as if it is a tepid 60 degrees. I tried to visit at odd times to see if it was a fluke and just warm from the doors being fanned open during busy hours, but you can check at 7am and the beer is still tepid. they typically have a good selection of produce, as long as you are not there during rush hour. I do continue to go there because the staff is courteous and close to the house. read more

I hate reviewing giant corporations but I shop here somewhat regularly so technically I'm a hypocrite and damned anyway. Kroger is the only place to shop for produce and quite frankly the produce in every Kroger in Nashville is frightening as heck and this Kroger is no different. I regularly have seen flies and mold not to mention half the time they are out of many things. The meat section is just plain scary. It's very sad that there is no other choice for people living in the area. This maybe a managerial issue, but it's more like a distribution issue. I'm pretty sure this side of the river is last on the list and there's probably a very shady reason for it. That being said they have expanded their 'whole food' section and offer more choices but for exorbitant prices. Where I'm from up north, Kroger was always considered the trashy, cheap grocery store chain and we avoided it at all costs. When I moved to Tennessee, I was surprised to see that Kroger was more mainstream, and then somewhat disappointed that it was probably going to be my main grocery store. I don't mean to sound pretentious, but I'm fortunate and thankful that I've been able to buy most of my produce from the Turnip Truck and the farmer's market. However, I keep a hectic late-night work schedule, so frequenting those places isn't always possible. That's where this location of Kroger comes in handy, because they are near my apartment and open 24 hours! They generally have a great variety of organic and regular produce, however they ALWAYS seem to be out of kale. Just the worst. 45 minutes waiting for ClickList to 'save me time'. They were 'out of everything" on my list. Magically I was able to go in and find ALL the item they 'didn't have' in less than 5 min (picture proof attached). Talked to a manager, she just shrugged and apologized. The people working here clearly hate dealing with and helping customers, and should really probably find another job. WORST PARKING LOT EVER. We never bought bad meat here, but the produce section was very often completely out of items. It seemed like every time I tried to buy cilantro, the shelves were cleared. When I lived just a mile from the Inglewood Kroger, I opted to drive to the Donelson Kroger and Publix stores just to avoid the parking situation at the Inglewood store. Descent selection of non-perishables, but if i need produce and meat, i'd rather trek over to publix in donelson or the kroger in madison is actually not too shabby. Ive seen no less than 6 occasions of shopping carts rolling down the hill away from people as they try to load up their cars, always crashing into other vehicles at quite a get-out-your-insurance-card clip. The hill is waaay too steep. And whats up with the little teaser lot up front, larger lot waaay up by the main road? This is further complicated by too many senior citizens trying to shimmy into that pharmacy drive-thru. It takes FIVE TURNS within 100 feet to get to it! Swinging too wide there, Ethel! Having moved to inglewood from lockeland springs i was excited to be nearer to the 'nice' kroger. But after a few too many instances of brown hamburger meat hidden under a coating of fresh looking pink meat, i vowed id never go back. Also several cases of pre-cut broccoli and cawliflower smelling rotten after opening the package the same day i bought it, or giving me 'stomach issues' all day the next day....and thats if they even have any veggies in stock, which they never do anyways. Everyone in the hood bemoans this place for the same reason, yet feel trapped because there isnt anywhere else to go nearby. The only way this store is going shape up is if they get some competition. This is sort of a 'lesser of the two evils" situation. I typically like Kroger, they often have some of the items I couldn't find at a Super Wal-Mart and I don't have to deal with Wal-Mart. But, the two nearest to us aren't my favorites, this being the better of the two I must give it 3 stars for location/ proximity to my house and the overall friendliness of the staff. The downside to this location: limited variety in International foods, low stock, other Kroger stores, namely those in more "ethnic" areas? Have ample Hispanic food, Asian, and Indian food options - this one is rather lacking. They did recently remodel to include fresh sushi - which is above Supermarket standard, more bread options, and an expanded Natural foods area but they are often out of stock on a number of things, mainly produce. I hope that they will stock produce more consistently and maybe expand their offerings, they are often limited or completely out of meal necessary items like - cilantro, or bean sprouts - other things are hit or miss with regard to freshness. Soooo, this will continue to be my supermarket of choice in my hood. Steps up considerably from the other Kroger on the end closer to 5 Points. read more

I've just had the worst experience at a kroger establishment in my entire life. I have lived in Inglewood East Nashville the last 6 years and use the Kroger located at Greenlee and Gallatin Rd for all of my families grocery needs since I moved here. That being said, my wife and I had an early dinner. So we got hungry for some Ice cream snicker bars so ran up to Kroger at 11pm. Something we do from time to time frequently with no incident. When we get to check out, the only lane open for check out is the self checkout, with a line no fewer than 18 people deep. The entirety of the crowd was grumbling and obviously upset. After a good bit of time. I spoke up and asked the attendant if there was anyone else working. She responded "obviously not" and blew me off. At this point the nice woman in front of me said to her husband and myself, "He said what we were all thinking." At this point I asked the attendant to speak to a manager. She simply rolled her eyes and went back to looking at her data pad. After a good little bit I again asked for a manager, she snapped that she had called him. I asked what his name was and she said "Heel." At no point does the attendant come within 15 feet of me or I her. Finally a lane opens and my wife and I begin to ring up our items. Out of nowhere, Store manager DAVID HILL, comes up behind me with a security guard and demands "Why are you yelling at my cashier?" I responded that I was not yelling at her but only asked her why there is a line this long and not a single person working? He simply says, with a tobacco chew in his mouth, "yea, and?" I was simply blown away at his hostility, lack of concern, and dismissive attitude. But again explained that I was just wanted to know why customers were not being taken care of. To this he tells me to cancel my purchase and leave his store. Knowing that I had done nothing wrong, I disregarded it and finished my transaction while asking him who his supervisor was. He responded, I am the only supervisor. I asked him if he owns this Kroger and he said no but i could call a number. I asked to borrow his pen to write it down and he said "you can find your own." And walked away. I have never had such a horrible experience at a grocery store or by management at any location in my life. I am a business owner of a long established Nashville business and I would die before any of my employees treated one of my customers with so much disrespect and hostility. I love Kroger and I love shopping there because the staff is usually so helpful, but this event seriously upset my wife and I both to the point I don't know if we will come back. I truly hope Kroger handles this situation appropriately. read more

I mean, this is East Nashville- notorious for being home to hipsters and rebels (or something). At least I know for a fact that a large percent of the veg population in Nashville shop here. So what gives? Otherwise, it's really not a bad place to shop. The produce selection is pretty decent, even the organic section. They have an impressive beer selection for a Kroger. All in all, this Kroger is the best grocery store in East Nashville, which doesn't really say a whole lot. Please, please, please add staff to your deli department. It always take so long to get some sliced meat. Typically, my wife fills an entire cart around the store before I can get some slices turkey. It's pretty ridiculous. Never had much of a problem until tonight. Realizing that we had the wrong credit card we asked if our cart of bagged groceries could be put aside so we can run home a mile away and get the right card to pay. The woman who was obviously an opioid addict old lady wrote out a slip so we can come back and pay and take the groceries home. Apparently right after we left they went ahead and put back all the groceries. I can't right back with a card and when I asked what happened they looked at me like I was speaking in Chinese. Tonight apparently marked a place in organic farming history. All Kroger grocery stores everywhere in the United States somehow lost connection to run credit cards debit cards or anything other than cash or handwritten checks. I waited in a line for 30 minutes, thinking to myself the entire time about the beautiful day that I will be able to buy a farm. I will be able to eat what I grow. I will be able to know where it's coming from. And I won't have to wait in line to get something that I hope is even remotely true to the painfully high priced label for the farmer. After my wait, I decided to depart -they gave me directions to an ATM unit a mile down the road and assured me I could return with cash. I couldn't believe that I did this but I couldn't wait to cook and create with all the supplies that I had found and very much needed to survive the winter ;) Well that might be a little dramatic but I really needed those things! I finally made it back to the grocery store with my cash. I banged on the door and told them that they promised that they would let me come in if I finally got my cash. I went and checked into the line. I had Mason jars. Olive oil. And Chardonnay for a dinner party tomorrow. They wouldn't let me purchase the Chardonnay because it was officially 11:01 PM. Apparently in the state of Tennessee you're not allowed to sell alcohol after 11 PM. Bottom line. Kroger is the ghetto. Turnip Truck is the overpriced boutique. I'm tired of having to choose. No wine on Sunday. No wine after 11pm. Even if you just endured hell to continue GIVING THEM MONEY. I will never go back. And by the way, SoCal, I miss you. See you soon. read more

It had been a hot minute since I made my way to the grocery store which resulted in my fridge consisting of bottles of Yazoo, a case of Lotus Energy Drink, and an array of condiments. Must be the secret sauce of a Yelp Community Manager, eh? Friends were staging an intervention so I decided it was high time to head to the grocery store. With my schedule, sometimes late night grocery shopping makes the most sense and this Kroger accommodated my awkward availability. The Mister and I moseyed the aisles to pick up well-priced produce and snatched up frozen Kroger brand vegetables ($1 a bag) to fill the void. What I was completely surprised and elated by was that this location expanded their "Natural Foods" section which used to be in the red-headed step child section of the store. (near the pharmacy) The Natural Foods section was upgraded to an actual aisle in a predominant location in the center of the store! I was able to stock up on organic tater tots, Morning Star breakfast sausage, Tofutti Sour Cream, and Almond Milk in a respectable aisle! The prices are more than fair for most of their organic, vegan, and vegetarian merchandise too. I eat like I give a damn and it feels pretty durn good to see that major chains are starting to finally catch on! read more
