You look for little things that put a business ahead of another. It's hard to get excited about a grocery store. This store has everything you would expect even a Sushi bar and nice lunch on the go area. For some reason it is always hard for me to find the snack bars. I like Kind with cranberry. But they put the bottled water up near the cash registers. I so look forward to this Kroger because it is at mile 9 from home on my bike ride. Perfect for a stop to grab some water and a snack. This is what makes Kroger stand out for me. They have a very well maintained connection to the Monon trail with a protected sidewalk all the way up to the store. Of course, the bike racks could be more convenient but that is just nit picky. This is in contrast to a supposedly earth friendly grocery on the other side of 86th street, They have an opportunity to connect to the Monon but have chosen to ignore the option. I guess in the suburbs it is even easy for the earth minded to forget alternate transportation. read more

Having lived in Speedway with my favorite Kroger, moving to SoBro was hard. With that horrible, overpriced Safeway on Illinois, the overpriced Fresh Market on College, Marsh on Keystone and 54 out of the way and with little selection, I was over it. I shop once a week on Sundays and make the trek out to 86th Kroger, because Kroger has great prices, great ethnic and organic selections and now they have that order online and pick up at the store option (first 5 free, then a fee after that) which I still have to try. I love Kroger, because they are always clean, you can actually find staff if you need them, not overpriced or at least there are coupons available. I still miss the selection and layout of the Speedway Kroger, but do like this Kroger even if the aisle placement is a bit confusing. read more

I'm actually at the Starbucks inside this Kroger. It's nifty if you are running the Monon, and parked in their lot. I am going to pick up a roasted chicken while I'm here. read more

I'm not sure it's quite "A-OK", it's not a "meh" either. When you enter the store, the produce area is large, and spacious. The aisles are plenty wide, and you can browse without feeling like your personal space is being intruded upon. But, once you get to the main part of the store, the aisles are probably the narrowest I've ever seen in a grocery store. I'm not a claustrophobic kind of guy, but this part of the store just sets me on edge. It seems I'm ALWAYS either bumping into someone, or they're bumping into me. They have a good selections of goods, and the employees are always friendly and helpful, so that's a mark in their favor. read more

Shout out to Sam in the seafood department! I asked a question about the location of the chuck roast and she not only helped me look for it she went in the back a cut two roasts for me even though it's not her department. Every time I shop at this location she has been friendly and helpful. read more

There's something I really like about this different type Kroger store. It might be a little smaller but the quality always seems nice. They sell a lot of local products which I really appreciate and love finding, as well as, a little different selection of other regular items it seems too. read more

I came to this Kroger to purchase balloons for an employee who is ill. I waited 15 minutes and they had to call for assistance in the floral department twice before someone came to tell me that no one could blow up balloons and they did not know where the person was that could blow up balloons. Wasted my time. In addition several employees passed by, including several that look like management, that said nothing to me while I stood there waiting for assistance. read more

This is one of the better Kroger's, but it still suffers the same issue of shortage. With the closing of Marsh, Kroger is almost the only choice, so we shop there often. I don't recall a time we went and they had everything we wanted. read more

Nice store with fueling station. The layout is different than most Kroger stores which makes navigation a bit challenging, but not impossible. Ample parking, clean appearance and accommodating workforce. The lady in the deli is vegetarian - extremely pleasant but lacks helpful knowledge of meats. I brought some signage issues to the attention of produce depth workers. The deviation from most other Kroger stores works only if it's your regular store. Otherwise it's a deal killer for me. read more

This Kroger was a wonderful addition to the Nora Neighborhood. The only other grocery store in the vicinity is Marsh and I am not a fan of shopping there due to higher prices. Anyways, back to Kroger. This Kroger always has fresh produce and a great organic section. The ethnic food aisle is awesome too! It's clean, brightly lit, friendly staff and cashiers and the parking lot is big.The one downfall of this place is that I find the layout a bit weird and because it is a Kroger Marketplace instead of a regular Kroger, I feel that they have a more limited selection of products. Unfortunately, if my grocery list is long, I will head north to Meijer. read more

I come to this Kroger often since it's literally in walking distance from my home. I'm very disappointed in the fact that the door says they close at midnight, however when I had to make an emergency run to grab my 5 month old baby Tylenol the manager locked the door at 11:52. I usually don't leave negative reviews and I understand the staff and closing manager were probably eager to go home, but as a person who has had previous management experience you don't lock the door until closing time. read more

I live fairly close to this Kroger and I drive by this location no fewer than three times a day. I can say I have probably only stopped in here about four or five times since they opened. I only go here when it's absolutely necessary. The aisles are way too narrow and difficult to navigate especially when other people are also in the aisle. I have a hard time figuring out the layout and finding where things are. Don't get me started on the self check out. I Purchased 20 items today and it told me no fewer than 15 times that I needed to go back and place the item in the bagging area even after I already had. If you want to use your own bag you have to wait for the worker to come over and allow it. It seems like this would be an easier process especially since everyone should be using their own bags these days. I will continue to avoid this location and shop elsewhere. read more

This is a really nice Kroger. We only needed a few things and were in a bit of a hurry, so didn't spend much time browsing, but I liked the clear signage for the different sections and that it feels clean and spacious. Checking out was also a breeze and the cashier was friendly and courteous. Also, they sell Starbucks Double shot Expresso cans near check out! Yay! That makes me happy. Next time I hope to have more time to look around. read more

The people working here are GREAT ! The guys putting the stock up in dairy, juice and eggs. The stocky buzz haircut guy with glasses always putting up stock. Ryan and the rest of the people in the meat department. The lady in floral. All the people in the bakery and produce. The people I see most at checkout. The tall black lady who manages the front register area. The blond guy who also helps manage the front register area. The cashiers and helpers in auto checkout. This store is great and every time I needed assistance someone was there to help" ALWAYS". The most important commodity is people and this store has this covered. Thank all of you for making are community better, safer and supplied. Sincerely: James Lake read more

This location is always well stocked, but there are never enough cashiers. Every time I go there is only one or two cashiers open and the self checkout line Is always ten deep. read more

Decent selections, but a lot of wasted space on items no one would want. Employee helpfulness is varied; some people will help me, but many others ignore me or brush me off, I am physically handicapped, and sometimes need a little help. Can't always get it when needed. But pharmacy is very good. The stores refuses to follow the state law that exempts me from proving my age when buying alcohol. I am 80, and look it. And all the cashiers persist is making me stop and prove my age. Very irritating as well as being illegal. read more

This is a tough one. While the pharmacy staff have been superb and gone above and beyond to help me out on more that one occasion, there's a Customer 'Service' guy who pretty much ruined my day with his insinuating that I was trying to scam the store. Treated me like a damned criminal. Because I don't have anything better to do with my time but go to Kroger Customer Service with gift cards and receipts and activation slips and see if I can scam them into refunding only certain ones, and deal with a-holes like him accusing me of, essentially, theft, in the process. Yes, that's how I want to spend my sick day. The manager was helpful, but it was too late to slow my blood boiling. Happy job hunting, Eric. If not for him, I'd probably give this store 5 stars. read more

One of the worst places I've ever been. Its dirty. Always has a bad smile as if something died as you enter the door. Never have much of anything in stock. Then the bathroom are just terrible. The store manager is rude and very unprofessional. His name is Jesse. He is very disrespectful. So no need for him to help u If u have a problem bcz he don't care. read more

This is our usual Kroger that we visit to pick up groceries. We went Sunday evening 7/28 around 5:30 P.M. We had a fairly large haul, so we went to a cashier to check us out as opposed to the self scan. Our cashiers name was Shay. Shay rolled her eyes and laughed as we made our way down to the end of her line. Shay did not greet us whatsoever and was very unfriendly. As Shay began to scan our groceries, they began to pile up at the end of the line. Instead of bagging the groceries (that she gets paid to do) she played on her phone while we did her job. Every time the groceries piled up at the end of the line, to the point where she couldn't scan anymore because there wasn't anywhere to put them, she would pull up her phone and expect us to bag. We bagged all 106 items ourself. I do not get paid by Kroger to bag my own groceries. If I wanted to do that, I would have gone to the shelf checkout. As we were finishing up bagging our own groceries, another couple got behind us in like. Shay proceeded to again roll her eyes and laugh at the fact that once again, she had to do her job. Not at all impressed and I will not be returning to this Kroger. I do not mind helping the cashier out and bagging a few items, however if the cashier is going to sit on their phone instead of helping us bag 100+ items, then I will expect half of their paycheck. read more

Not my favorite Kroger.. It's very nice and new and obviously clean. But the layout is awful and aisles are so narrow! They don't have the same selection as other Krogers I have been too. The produce section is very nice and they have an awesome selection of wines and cheeses. I also love the flower selection outside. But for my full on grocery shopping I try to avoid this store. read more

Went there today to get some food to go from the deli/meat counter. There was an older lady working. She was mocking me and was extremely rude when I asked a question. Worst customer service I've had in a long while. I'm a restaurant manager and would never tolerate that kind of behavior in my establishment. What a shame. read more

My aunt ordered a cake for her sons birthday from the bakery. It was a good cake, but it was not what she ordered. When she cut into the cake it was vanilla, not chocolate. Once again, it was good, but not what she ordered. read more

This store opened with great fanfare and much promise. The best department is the pharmacy. The worst are the deli counter and the meat counter. These two have a complete lack of understanding of and appreciation for customer service. I go out of my way to get my deli products, meat, and fish elsewhere. The staff are indifferent at best and rude at times. The meat counter is rarely ready to go by 9 am which I consider to be a reasonable hour to be prepared to deal with customers. The Marsh meat counter is ALWAYS ready by 9. I have a background in management, and give the managers of this store a C-. Somebody needs to give this place a kick in the seat of the pants. The only reason people shop here is because of the gas points. read more

When we first moved to Indianapolis in July 2015 this Kroger was amazing. You couldn't walk 10 feet in the store without employees asking "How are You?" "Can I help you?" The last year or so, I've noticed that there has been a complete overhaul of managers and employees. The produce department is lacking. The produce isn't fresh at all. The deli department gets catering orders wrong, when you order sliced deli meat and cheese, they go over the amount you ask and don't even tell you. There have been numerous times that there was days expired food in the prepared food section. Ken the manager is horrible. I've witnessed him yelling at employees right in front of customers. Brandy is rude! A few times there was an issue with the price of an item, she gets an attitude and makes you wait sometimes 10-15 minutes while she goes and finds the item to check the price. A few times I've written Kroger via email and called the store directly with concerns and Ken the manager never gets back to you. The cashiers (the young ones) have attitudes, they don't say hello, and they act like you are a bother to them. The only shaving grace in this store is Keith, who is another manager and Jerrica, the customer service agent. They are always nice and friendly. Honestly I started shopping at a competitor because this store doesn't seem to care about it's customers. read more

Typical Grocery, But keeps up with Wholefoods so the produce is fabulous!

There is NO logic behind the layout of this store. I like to get in and out quickly, but I spend forever trying to find items that are not in logical places. The variety of items is lacking. I only go here when I need a basic item quickly because it's close to me. Otherwise, I drive 10 minutes out of my way to go to a better store. Also, the deli counter is painfully slow. read more

Got chastised for buying cigarettes (they were for my husband) instead of donating a dollar to Riley. I'm in there all the time. I only had cash on me and needed to stop for gas. I just figured I'd do it next time. I had a little bit of groceries. There's a reason I bought cheap dog food and had a coupon. I had my ID ready even though I'm 25. Charming cashier asked if I was 30 stating I needed to be in order to buy. I mean she went far enough to ask if I had kids and "didn't I want to know if they were taken care of". The customer service person bagged my groceries was laughing the whole time. The cashier winked at her... because, you know, this is all fun and games to her. Berate your customers- that is how you get them to return. Judge your customers- this is how you get them to return. Yes, I will donate...but it won't be at this store. Customers are the reason why you have a job. I wasn't rude. Don't be rude to me. read more
