Quick stop for a few bits of food in the Sprinter van, this is a very large Kroger with a section that focuses on the proximity to the beach with beach toys and beach towels and such. I didn't need any of that, instead picking up a fresh bottle of cream for coffee and some sliced cheese for sandwiches. The store is in excellent condition though at 8:30am, I expect clean and stocked. Only one register open so I was at the self-checkout and on my way. And yes, Kroger acquired the Harris Teeter chain so I was able to use my VIC card and earn some credit towards Fuel Points. This store does have a Fuel Center. 3.11.23 This is our go to grocery store when we go to our family's beach rental every summer and for special occasions. Unlike most general retailers, they have a section for wine and beer, which is convenient. I purchased a 24 case of Miller Lite and it was on sale for a discount of 3.50. They also have a nice bakery and pharmacy. Their deli meats are good. We purchased some nice flowers for my MIL's birthday and a vase which was sold separately. Very convenient that they put thought into making this a one-stop shop. read more

Great service. Very easy curbside pick up. Food was just as had ordered and packed very well. This my go to grocery store.

The store is very clean and the people are very helpful at checkout. The meat department needs a nicer guy to deal with than Horace.

Worst Kroger I have been in. Smell smacks you in the face as you walk-in. Entrance area had an odd seafood smell. Manager was putting up the entrance closes at 9 pm sign at 758 pm. All the registers except self checkout were closed at 9pm with a lot of people shopping. While I checked out myself, the manager and a female employee stood by customer service having a chit chat. Not a fan of the manager on duty. If I want anything else from Kroger, I will drive to Carolina Forest. Will probably just stop at publix or Food Lion though. Really liked Kroger before we relocated to the south end. Terrible management and a very disorganized store that is not up to Kroger standards. read more

While this Kroger is an older location, it is ALWAYS busy. It has a gas station out front that is constantly busy and sees a lot of visitors and locals. My husband's grandparents live right down the street so we stopped in frequently for last minute essentials on our trips. And most recently used them for my niece's 3rd birthday cake. We were able to order online ahead of time and it was ready and perfect for her party. read more

I have lived in walking distance to this Kroger for more than 21 years. The cleanliness, customer service, and stock has declined tremendously since Covid. I started driving 8 miles to a local Publix and had not been to Kroger in several months but decided to give them a try yesterday. I quickly remembered why I stopped shopping here. Advertised specials were out of stock. While more than 10 employees were walking around the store only 2 were at registers. It took more than 30 minutes to get checked out. The self checkout was so filthy it would not scan barcodes. The manager and employees simply don't care and continue to say "it's like this everywhere" But at Publix items are in stock, it is clean, employees are actually at the register and even bag my groceries offering to take them to my car. It is so worth the drive. I have no idea how Kroger in Garden City remains in business. read more

Went to Kroger's last night to use my coupons they sent me . Yikes what has happened to this store? Very few people were wearing masks and the employees that were wearing them some in the produce dept the masks were so dirty ,they would probably make you sick just wearing them,the seafood counter smelled so bad I gaged with my mask on when I passed it, There were a lot of empty and messy shelves , I had to go to Walmart after to get the stuff I needed that they were out of , No big k cola , no Kroger salted butter , no Kroger 4 packs of toilet paper no Kroger brand single roll paper towels , No celery , no cheetos except the hot ones, no 6 packs of spring water, produce was looking like a lot should have been tossed , floors were dirty . Was only able to use half of the coupons they sent since they were out of so much . Last time I was there they had no Kroger milk ! It's not still the high tourist season, I know they get a lot of people shopping there from the hotels along The beach but so do other Grocery stores there's no excuse for what that store looked like and smelled like . Sorry a shopper there since it opened , I'll be going to cleaner stores for my safety till the pandemic is over!!! read more

I am floored by the lack of integrity of Corporate Kroger! I'm a good customer. I shop there once a week and this is how they take care of their customers. I parked my car in the next space to one of their cart trolleys on 1/3/22. When I came out the store to find that the trolley was blown up against my car ( trolley was not bolted down) with my mirror pushed in and 2 dents. And while the inside staff was very accommodating telling me they would take care of the problem, Corporate has not. Corporate (Megan MacDonald) sent a letter that they are not responsible for the weather ( well I guess I was supposed to be and this had nothing to do with the trolley not being bolted down). How do you trust a company like this? If there is anyone out there that has experienced any issues like this with this company I would like to know perhaps we can do a class action suit. read more

This store is conveniently located on the east side of Business 17 in Garden City Beach, SC. I found this grocery store one day while passing, and noticed the low gas prices, giving 3 cents off per gallon to Kroger card holders. Being they were not busy, the attendant gave me the form, which I filled out and voila, I'm now a card holder and received my discount. Since that time, I have gone in to the grocery store and have done my general shopping. I have had reasonable wait time at the deli counter, where they sell Boars Head cold cuts. Each deli item I ordered, my honey and I were given a sample of it, without asking. The bakery and produce sections were being stocked while we were there. They didn't block the aisle and were more than happy to help me find what I was looking for. This is not the largest grocery store I have been to, but the store is well organized and the shelves are well stocked. Ecoupons can be loaded on your Kroger card via Kroger.com, and are taken off at the register. Shouldn't that be automatic, as a cardholder? A pharmacy is also on site, although I have not used it. I have not had any cart issues with this store, except at time of purchase, I was offered assistance loading my car. I have noticed all staff is friendly, accommodating and polite. Sometimes I do make sure to go out of my way to get to this market. read more

I love Kroger! Get their discounts by signing up for the membership. It is worth it. They give a lot of free things away via coupons. This specific location is very clean and open 24 hours. Be advised that in South Carolina we do not sell liquor at grocery stores, but they have a great selection of beer and wine. read more

I love Kroger so much!!! I haven't been able to shop in one since we moved from TN. I have spent 10 years telling my children of the magical wonders of Kroger. They finally got to experience it today! Their "natural foods" section has ALL of the vegan, gluten-free, non-dairy, and specialty foods in one section - and they have EVERYTHING!! GF baking mixes, GF bread and rolls, non-dairy cheese & yogurt - and non-dairy pizza!! They even have vegan salad dressings that I have NEVER seen in a "regular" grocery store! And on top of all that, their store brand items taste exactly like name brand but for way less $. Please never change, Kroger. You are amazing. read more

I was visiting garden city beach and needed a medication filled. One of the most impressive Pharmacists with whom I have ever dealt. The other employees were busy, so he stopped what he was doing multiple times to help and even looked up the discounted cost to make sure it was correct. Amazing customer service. read more

I am on vacation in Myrtle Beach and heard good things about Kroger's from friends in the area. I must say that is exactly the opposite of what I heard. They have terrible customer service in there deli department. Waited a half hour for one person to get helped while there was a line of at least ten people behind me. They had 5-6 employees behind the counter and nobody seemed to be helping the customers or at least showed any initiative to help any other customers out. This is just a little absurd in my opinion since I waited for no reason. I will never go here again hat is for sure. read more

We spent the day doing errands around Myrtle Beach - it was our first full day here. We went to Kroger to stock up on some odds and ends and decided to pick up some sushi at their deli. We should have walked past it. When we got back to the hotel, we discovered the rice was terribly overcooked. Too much water when you cook rice, it becomes tasteless and mushy. Don't, I repeat, don't buy sushi at this Krogers. It may not always be that bad, but the fact that whoever makes it actually used that rice shows they don't care, one bit, about quality, or they would have thrown the rice out and made more, rather than using it. read more

I have been a loyal shopper at Kroger for many years but I think that I have just had my last trip. I tried to shop last night at the Garden City, SC location after returning from a trip. I didn't realize that the store closed at 8 and didn't see a sign posting their hours. I got to the inside doors and they wouldn't open. When an employee saw me trying to get in, he walked over (I thought to open the door) and locked the door right in front of me and walked away. He could have simply said, "I'm sorry we're closed but we'd love to see you tomorrow." But....nope. Today was worse. I realize that it's Saturday and understand why the store was so crowded. However, once again, they were out of their own water bottles, the meat selection looked like I was on the other side of hurricane shopping, and the items that Kroger sent me coupons for - guess what? Yup, nowhere to be found. :( The worst part was yet to come. When I got to the register, the cashier was more worried about whether I had a Kroger card than how she handled my food (I do have a card). She ripped a hole in the bag that held apples and proceeded to explain that she "had" to weigh each apple separately. Nope! Same type of apples - just throw them all on the scale and get one weight. Then she proceeded to roll them all down the dirty conveyor belt separately where the man who was bagging threw them individually into bags that had various things like meats, seafood, bread. I'm sure you can guess - I had to throw away a couple of the apples because they were so badly bruised and several of my other food items that got smashed or broken because he didn't care to bag them properly. As if this experience weren't frustrating enough, the cashier continued to defend her actions until I finally threw up my hands and said very loudly (under the Manager's office) that I didn't want to talk about it anymore, I just wanted to leave this nightmare! Other employees were laughing at her because her actions were so ridiculous and the customers were all disturbed. I don't like causing a scene - it was embarrassing for me too - but food is expensive and I feed these items to my children. It's not like I was buying bags of mulch that didn't matter how it was treated. I'm very disappointed and this trip combined with other unfortunate incidents at Kroger has pretty much destroyed any chances of me shopping there again. There is too much competition (Walmart, Neighborhood Walmart, Food Lion and Publix) right around the corner. I will give my money to a store that cares about their customers and their reputation. About the only thing I will miss is the discount on gas but honestly, it's just not worth it anymore. read more

They have a big organic and natural food selection that I like and also a nice selection of breads to choose from. So I'm giving 5 stars for those reasons and the store always looks clean inside too which is a good thing. The parking lot has usually always been busy when I have gone there. read more

Gotta say Kroger Pharmacy and it's associates at the Garden City, SC location rock! I had never used their pharmacy before (due to healthcare insurance), but did my homework and discovered the Kroger Rx Savings Program beat all others hands down. I was leery of trying something different since my insurance coverage required a deductible be met before ANYTHING is paid for medications, but I found this to be a HUGE savings over any other prescription-savings programs around. Since I nor my husband never meet our deductible, we are basically paying out of pocket for every prescription. The program is great, the staff was very helpful and accommodating and friendly! Glad I found out about their savings program! Love the store too! read more

This is the worst grocery store I think I have ever been to in my life. Please allow me to justify... This was not a one time, something went wrong, king of incident. This store is on my way home from work and for some reason my wife and I stop at this one. I guess we are too tired to drive a couple more miles to a different one. It has become a joke to us to see what horrible customer service they will provide on this trip. I will share a few examples: - I stopped at the customer service counter and got to listen to the girl talking to another employee about his weekend. They talked for 2-3 minutes before she finally noticed I was standing there. - An elderly gentleman in the parking lot waves down someone retrieving carts and asked to have a motorized cart brought out to him. Another kid came out in one and as he got close to the man he hopped off, turned around and walked back to the store. The cart came to a stop not too far from the man. He and I looked at each other in amazement that this kid didn't even get it close to him, but didn't put one breath of effort into making sure he got in ok. It could have just as easily run him down. - The lines are always very long so I use the self check out. Like they usually do one of my items needed someone to ok it in the computer. My wife and I stood there for several minutes looking for someone who was working in that area. Finally a manager walked by and I asked if anyone was working there. He pointed at a guy stocking shelves and said 'he is,' and walked away. The kid got up, cleared the computer for us and walked away. Neither of them said sorry for the wait, thanks for shopping, etc. - I had to ask a man stocking frozen food if he would move so i could get an item. The reason he was in the way is because he was talking on his cell phone, and had tucked himself behind a door with his head in the freezer in what I guess he thought was a way to hide what he was doing. I would be lying if I told you I was surprised he gave me attitude about it.. I will stop now but I have so so many more examples. This store doesn't seem to employ a service manager who walks the store making sure the employees are doing their jobs. If you want a reasonably priced store where you need to bring in your own cart from outside because no one will have done that recently, be able to find all your own items because no one will help you, wait in line behind an employee in uniform buying their own personal items, to be checked out by a girl with purple hair who will make zero attempt at pleasantries, then this is your store. This store is lucky to be in a tourist location where the transient shoppers are the norm and customer service is something they've all heard about but never experienced. read more
